I started a to-do list system that has worked well for me the past few years. Like the video suggested, I try to keep my task list limited to 10 items. For those items, I create checkboxes, and put a dot in the center of the box for items I must do today. This helps me prioritize and see what has to be done today at a glance. If I begin a task and don’t complete it, I shade in only half the checkbox - to show it’s still in progress. Then when it’s fully complete, I shade in the entire box. It’s a very simple and efficient method and keeps a clean page of only checkboxes and task descriptions.

For school, I would write my lists like an outline, indented like this:
    read 4 chapters of this
    ____ 2 pages of that
____ Mary Wollstonecraft's "Vindication of..." (due Mon)
    write essay (due Friday @12)
____ 2 responses to peers (due Thursday @11)
    ____ forum response (due Wed)
or something like that. But separating what I had to read and what I had to write, and further separating it per class was super helpful for me. I also had a mini weekly calendar at the bottom corner of the page where I color coded all the due dates so I wouldn't get confused. It was super helpful. Hope my system helps someone else too!

At 5:00 you gave me a great idea on how to re-purpose some items on hand. The Sun-Star Lightia memo pad is beautiful but as I'm a stationary hoarder I can't buy anymore this year lol But I'm thinking of putting my sticky pad propped up on a phone holder to keep things in plain sight on my desktop. There's something about having a standing notepad I think will keep my focus/ attention.

Buy vertical-lined index cards or in a pinch, blank ones. I use them with a index-card holder by Oxford with a pen holder for personal stuff or Levenger if I am in a professional setting. Easy to keep track of and infinite possibilities. I do use washi tape and stamps on them when they need to grab my attention. I also use the pocket post-it’s to hold cards in folders, notebooks or iPad/tablets.

I am the queen of to do lists. I make them constantly. I have ongoing & master lists on my phone, keep more targeted notes and lists on my phone as well, then I write down lists based on time in my planner. and may even put sticky notes on my desk at work to keep me focused on work (my planner is used for both and and personal items).
I completely agree with the concept of a master list, and don't forget to check them off. Let the master list sit for a while, and I vastly prefer digital for this one. It is less wasteful to constantly move things around, add them, subtract them, etc. I can keep a single running list without creating clutter.
Also agree with the advice to not be afraid to move things around. Tasks take longer than you expect, or you aren't in the frame of mind that you thought you'd be in. So bump it to later and don't sweat it. Maybe it isn't even that important and you can skip it! Prioritizing is very important.

How detailed a list needs to be also depends on your mental state. When I was in grad school, beginning of semester lists had assignments; end of semester lists said things like make breakfast and lunch, brush hair and teeth...

    • @phoenixnguyen100
      @phoenixnguyen100 Год назад

To-do lists will backfire - making you less productive if you try to get as detailed as possible. Have you ever felt guilty and regretful because you wrote a long list with more than 10 different tasks (but most of them are from 1 task divided into many small tasks) but did not complete them. Trust me, if you plan to study today, you will have dozens of things like "Checkbox1. Learn History Checkbox2. Do Math homework Checkbox3. Do Physics Homework", seriously, this can be done comparable to OCD, you will NEVER be successful with dozens of unnecessary and useless things like "6:00 Wake up 6:05 Brush my teeth 6:10 Make bed 6:20 Read 10 page 7:00 Prepare to go to school", you will NEVER be able to complete all of them no matter how perfect you are with such a long page. So ultimately, what do I want to say here? To-do List is just a tool and you are the one using this tool to make your work more efficient, but if, you are not really focusing on your work, you are focusing on "How to write the most effective To-do list", "How to write a more beautiful To-do list", "How to write a To-do list for beginners", then your work will just stop at 0 with nothing really getting done.

I think it's such a waste of money and resources to make beautiful note pads just for lists that are meant to be thrown away very soon after the list is finished.
I use used paper (printed on one face, the other is blank) that I cut in different sizes: lesson plans, quick note, shopping list...). As a teacher I never run out of used paper, and I'm sure you can find a lot in various workplaces too. Just set a carboard box next to the printers for misprinted docs and use them until it's full!

    "tripod grip": ruclips.net/video/WjzNyHgPZac/видео.html
Why do teachers teach children to write like that?
Watching hands that form a fist when whey write make me feel uncomfortable, the blood being squeezed out of the nails and fingers.
In Austria we are taught that the pen rests on the fingers, between index finger and middle finger and the thumb is higher up the pen grip, like shown here: ruclips.net/video/XRHxqfNSQ54/видео.html
