  • When performing point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) of the heart it can be difficult to appropriately drape the patient, keeping breast tissue covered, and at the same time obtain adequate views of the heart. In this video we will review basic draping of the chest while performing cardiac ultrasound in both the supine and left lateral decubitus positions.

    Is this an echocardiogram?

Many people use cardiac ultrasound as terminology to describe a limited but focused ultrasound of the heart. Echocardiography is a term used to mean a more comprehensive exam of the heart. Echocardiogram is an electrical tracing of the electrical impulse that courses through the heart causing it to beat.

Yes it's an echocardiogram. Cardiologists would call it a Limited echo. Full studies can 30min to an hour
