MrPlayboy28 Maybe, but the iMac G3 is more retro. A G4 might make a good πMac, just because of its awesome unique design.
Jack Durrant I guess is easier to adapt the LCD on the G5 that the CRT (or replace in for a LCD) on the G3. The G4 are EXTREMELY expensive and I would prefer to do a proper Hackintosh with a NUC on one of them
MrPlayboy28 G4s don't seem to cost much more than G5s on eBay in the UK, although I can see why they would cost more elsewhere. I suppose if you're going hackintosh, you'd want the computer with the bigger screen.
I had zero interest in this video but ended up watching it because I'm basically out of videos to watch - and wow, what a great video - I was completely entertained the entire time. You are very good at what you do The 8-Bit Guy.

Neat project, I'm thinking about making a bed for my dog similar to this, he loves to play in boxes. It would be pretty awesome to make an aquarium out of this too...
My God, I have exactly one of these Macs in the garage in bits, same colour even! I was going to silicon glue it back together with an indigo / blue / white LED array in an exterior light fitting inside and then put it in the garden. I already cut the front of the CRT tube off with a stone cutting disk on an angle grinder so it will have the original screen too.
Dunno 'bout you, but I'd use one of those to make a TV head.

i've been telling my friends for years that iMacs werent useless
its proprietary apple BS like everything else they produced. a PC might be "ugly" but its a tool made for utility. if a PC breaks you can fix it.
your not going to install a standard power supply or motherboard. buy a board for a PC you have over a dozen brands to choose from. that makes them cheap, competition between manufactures.
so why not just build a PC and load mac os

Well here in the US I can get one for less than $50, and if it doesn't work anyway then often they are thrown away or given out for free.

My dad had an iMac DV (the second gen of G3 iMacs), that I popped open once to replace the hard drive, and interestingly while it looked very similar from the outside, it was built quite differently than this one. It opened from the top rather than from the bottom. It also didn't have a fan.

I used to have 2 iMac G3s in my bedroom with a piece of acrylic on top as a coffee table. Those things make great furniture!

I've also done this. One of my teachers gave me 5 iMac G3's about a year ago. One of them died and I did this, but with a slot loading model not tray loading.

The iBookGuy It's not the original, the original is in Bondi. This one is the 2nd generation that came out in 99 and featured 5 different colors: Strawberry, Lime, tangerine, Grape and Blueberry. They also could come in either 266Mhz or 333MHz. ;)

We use to have these iMacs in my elementary school when I was a kid. I always loved using them cause they were so colorful but after leaving it seemed like every other school used pcs instead.
