What a handsome thing that Krauss Pacific is. I'd always taken it to be called William Beck, but it's Whillan Beck. I love that little green diesel 5:13! Like a mobile ice cream kiosk.
Part one is an excellent video and I am really looking forward to part two. Such visually appealing trains and the shot selection and the editing are excellent.
Great footage, just wish I could get to the Ratty more often & its ages since I've been. Whillan Beck looks great and finally out stretching its legs. For me the unsung hero here has to be the Ravenglass station pilot la'al Cyril.... Thanks for sharing.
Kingskybeem128 epic gamer , heritage railways are usually 25, however the ratty May operate to a lower speed limit, unfortunately I don’t remember the specifics on this question now.
40 minute journey, 7 miles would average 10, not accounting for stops. When you're on board and the wee loco is going at almost flat out it does feel quicker though I'll say that
I made that ride back in 2012, and I had a GPS speedo with me. It was between 7 and 10 mph uphill and 10 and 13 mph downhill. Exactly 10 mph on the flat plain. There was a family with a dog sitting next to us. At full speed, the dog jumped off the coach and ran alongside the train for a while, then jumped back in again. We had a good laugh.

Northern Rock is the gem of that railway. Like a Rolls Royce of the 15" gauge world.
Sam Wake is that you? 😂

Skip to 8:22 to see the beautiful blue steam locomotive. Though the locomotives at 6:19 look really great too
This might be the smallest gauge train that runs everyday on a fixed time table from A to B and not on a loop in a park.
3 minutes in, and I like it already.
Aww lucky seems to enjoy watching the trains go by ❤️
Wonderful video, big thumbs up :)
magnifique superbe génial
14:21 Oooh! Nice!! :-D
Tiny little engines. Cute little things aren't they?
Cute! O dear.
What are the names of the two small 15" gauge diesel shunters with two axles and four wheels and what's their purpose on their railway?
Do you mean Cyril?
I don't know the names but I believe their purpose is to shunt the locos and carriages at ravenglass station.
Jones Steam came down the hill, opened the shed and lit a fire in Ivor's boiler. But where's the tap for filling the kettle with boiling water is it?
It goes and lit ivors fire
look how little these engines are
Little, but they're very strong and weighty at about 8/9 tonnes each.
What a rail gauge size . 610mm???
Syeh Beabeu , 15 inch which is 381mm
the video iv just watch was good the locos are wounderfull but coaches need updating
What is the maximum speed limit on this line I'm guessing 15
Liam's layout , I believe you guess is correct, judging from a minor accident report in 2007 it’s a visiting engine.

I believe the speed limit is 20 mph, but trains probably travel slower in some places as the line is quite hilly.

Minimum-Gauge railway.
