@@veenawilson979 Woow it's amazing to know that as we have it too in Sudan 🇸🇩 we call it zahra, we usually use it for the traditional men garments called Jalabia to make it sparkly white.
I did this. It was a nice shade of white on the day I made my cake. Then, on my nephew's birthday, the icing looked gray-ish purple. It was not bad, but not the white it was before.
Very interesting… I bake too and the way I get very white butter cream is to do a hybrid of a bit if shortening. I use 2 sticks of butter (1 cup) to 1/2 cup shortening and whip whip whip and I get white butter cream and it tastes great. I also use vegan butter.. but it tastes just like regular butter. You can’t tell the difference. I also use clear vanilla extract never the dark kind
Thanks for the great tips! :D Yup, whipping is so so important! Here in NZ our butter is soooo yellow so you really have to whip it well to get most of the yellow gone xD
Hello MK! Happy new year! What is your favorite food coloring brand? And a second question: would you recommend microwaving the frosting to make it even whiter or that trick will not work in this case? Thank you and congrats on great content!
Hey Mariam , i have subscribed your channel few days back and just loving it , I live in Pakistan we have a very humid weather, because of the humidity my cake start to sweat ,is there any trick to fux the sweating of buttercream
I've actually never tried this because I hate American buttercream lol. I wonder if this works on other types of frosting? Although I haven't made smbc for quite some time
If you tried it, I’d mix a little of the blue and a little of the red first, THEN add to the icing. Only because when you try to mix the separate colors in the icing, it makes it gray. But I myself haven’t tried that yet so if you do, give an update please :)
Hi Louise! I am well thanks and hope you are too :) And yes you can totally colour it once it's white. You can also colour it initially when its still a bit yellow, but I do find colours work better when you get the frosting whiter first :)
Hey, can i ask u something quickly… when making a chocolate cake do i need two butter cream fr filling n fr the cover of my desired colour? If it’s vanilla can i make vanilla buttercream n the divide it so i can add colour to the other one?
See, I read to do this but with blue. Tried it on a birthday cake for my bf but it turned the frosting green. Which makes sense, because yellow plus blue = green, not white. So why would purple not turn the frosting brown, which is what you get when you mix yellow and purple.
Asak! Tried out your vanilla cake recipe with vanilla buttercream frosting.. the best cake I've ever made, everyone in my family loved it. Unfortunately, my buttercream tasted like raw butter 🥲
Wassalaam! So so happy to hear you enjoyed the vanilla cake recipe :D in terms of the frosting - sorry it didn't quite turn out how you'd hoped! It shouldn't taste like butter, so maybe just double check the quantities of the ingredients but also remember to whip the butter for a long time so it becomes light and airy :D
Ooohh I've never tried it on cake batter! Now you've got me intrigued I may have to try it next time! I think people use this concept with dying hair too so I suppose in theory it should work in any type of colour scenario! :)
Hmmm when it's cold here in NZ, then I make sure I take the cake out of the fridge at least a few hours before it's going to be eaten so that the buttercream comes to room temp. It also helps if you have a temp controlled room so it's not too cold. I wouldn't amend the recipe though otherwise this can affect the taste and stability of the buttercream :)
Good question! If you find your buttercream has too many air bubbles, simply mix it on a low speed at the end for 5-10 minutes and this will help get rid of the large air bubbles while still maintaining the colour :)
This reminds me of my grandmother’s practice of using “bluing” liquid as a laundry additive to keep white clothes from looking yellow. Brilliant! :)
Wowow never knew people used this for laundry too! Sounds genius! :D
Oh yes , Indians have Ujala (blue liquid) for brightening white clothes !

Yes! This is exactly what I do because I hate dumping so much White coloring into Buttercream. It's a bit more effort but much less waste
This is my favorite whitening method! I remember first hearing it and being hesitant because I feared turning the icing purple 😂
Haha totally feel you!! :D
Do you know where to get white gel colour from
Thanks!
You're so welcome! Thanks so much for the support :D
Thank you so much for sharing your tips. I have been struggling with this problem for a long time. Surely will try this hack next time. ❤️
Just like in laundry i use mrs Stewart bluing to whiten white clothes and prevent them from yellowing...awesome staff
Wow!!
Just heard this for the first time and can’t wait to try it out
You two should do more vids together. Great sibling energy there!!😊

I use plant butter, and they use avocado oil or olive oil. You can't tell the difference.
Great ideas! Colour is amazing to play with. Now to get rid of the bitter taste of the food colouring...
If you use gel food coloring it won't have that much of bitter taste.
Love it and thank you !
Thank you for this tip
You're welcome! :D Hope it works well for you!
That is really cool! Thank you!
Thank you 🌹🌹
Can you overmix buttercream like you can with whipped cream? Because thats always my issue

Hi MK, I pray all is well. Once you have it white, can you color it to your preference?

May I also have the ingredients measurements for each
Look forward to trying this, I suppose the same concept would work on cake batter too??

I have done it with macarons
And yes in an orange flavour cake batter that I wanted to make into rainbow colours so started with a whiter base
nice
Can i use watery food colour , is that a problem
Use gel colour
How do we keep buttercream soft during winter weather?

Why can’t we use white gel Color?
Which purple is it? Radiant or normal ones. Kindly help
Hi there! Just regular purple should work fine :D
Won't the buttercream have many holes from too much mixing ?
Good question! If you find your buttercream has too many air bubbles, simply mix it on a low speed at the end for 5-10 minutes and this will help get rid of the large air bubbles while still maintaining the colour :)
Add a bit of hot water.
I want to make pink cake but it turns out like peach.... How can I make my cake pink...? Thanks
Hi there! Try a little red it may help you achieve a deeper pink tone :) and if it gets too red just add some white :)
Where r u from
New Zealand! :)
❤
people have been doing this with their hair for years. Puple shampoo makes yellow hair more silver.
Thanks so much! And I don't at this stage, but maybe in the future :D
