  • Do you want to improve your Korean from intermediate to advanced? Then you need to study differently. Because intermediate covers a wide range of vocabulary and grammar as well as there are a lot of other things to deal with, such as speed and pronunciation. In this lesson, I'm going to introduce some tips to go from intermediate to advanced alone at home. 😀

Many thanks for your Video. Korean is still a magic thing for me - so still I must be a Beginner.
You must have a huge knowledge about learning languages. In your video 'Korean Conjunctions' last week, you explained in more detail than I have ever seen on other channels. Thanks again for that.
It makes me curious what you do for a living. I'm guessing you're a high school teacher.
Do you think that the number of vocabulary words to be memorized is a measure of a student's level? Of course Grammar, Listening, Reading and Writing is also a point of View. But can you tell me a number about the level?
I look forward to your next video and response.

Thanks for your kind compliment! ☺You're always very kind.
I'm not a teacher. I just do a lot of research and thinking to make useful videos. I personally have tried many things when I learn foreign languages, and those experiences are also helpful to make videos. I'm very happy to hear that the last one was helpful for you. Thank you too. 😀
Like you said, I think you should consider all those elements to measure the level of your Korean. Because even if you know a lot of words, you might able to understand contexts or speak. But I believe the amount of words you know is definitely advantageous.
Unfortunately I've found only one recommendation about how many words to learn for every level from TOPIK website (800 for A1, 1500-2000 for A2, no other numbers for other levels). For English, 500-1000 for beginner, 2000-4000 intermediate, 8000-16000 for advanced. I think Korean would be more or less similar.
감사합니다. 제가 질문에 다 답변했나요? ☺

Im curious as to your reasoning behind studying grammar as little as possible? Is it something I will acquire naturally? I am lower intermediate (I think) I can recognise and understand a lot of grammar patterns when I'm reading but still struggle to use them to make my own sentences.

    • @justlearnkorean
      @justlearnkorean  Год назад +5

Thank your for your question. ☺️ And sorry if I made you confused you.
Yes, I mean that you should acquire grammar rules more naturally. But of course you need to have some time to understand what it mean, how it work etc. In other words, it is helpful to learn just necessary parts of a grammar rule (try not to analyse too much) and remember it through a lot of example sentences. For example, let's say you are learning '면 안돼(요)', once you understand that it means 'you shouldn't do something, and it is used with a verb (if needed, verb conjugation rules as well), and then move on to learning it with example sentences. 다른 사람 물건 만지면 안돼(요), 그거 먹으면 안돼(요), 지금 티비 보면 안돼(요). 거기 혼자 가면 안돼(요). etc. Because if you focus on analysing a rule too much, you know the rule in your head, but it is still difficult to make sentences and say them out loud. I believe that the most important part is that you should read out loud example sentences, which will help you use that rule and say it without much thinking (sort of automation).
Hope it makes sense. Pls let me know if you have any other question. 😉

I'm at an upper beginner level. I want to find resources to find more grammar patterns even from a low intermediate level to practice with but I mostly find beginner level patterns. Even a list with various patterns is enough as I can look up their usage on my own but I am struggling to find it. I want to be able to practice creating my own sentences so that I can move to a lower intermediate level quicker. Can you recommend any such resources? Appreciate this video as well as the one for beginners!

I understand that it's difficult to find the right study resources. 😀 Have a look at these lists for the intermediate level. Hope they are helpful for you.
      Topik grammar list : learning-korean.com/DL/TOPIK-Ⅱ-Grammar.pdf.pdf
Topik intermediate grammar points : www.topikguide.com/topik-essential-150-grammar-notes/
Grammar in use for intermediate : keytokorean.com/grammar-blog/grammar-points-covered-in-intermediate-classes/
Grammar in use for beginners and low intermediate is also good but I can't find it online. 😯

What's the value of this video?
People will never start working hard by watching these.
All these videos do is further one's procrastination.
The advanced level of any language requires constant research and reading about everything instead of consuming feelgood copium pieces.

Sharpie, what is the value of this comment? Many of us find this video very interesting and helpful. If you don't find it valuable to you personally, you simply go find another RUclips video. That's what the RUclips ecosphere is all about. 🤷
