That's the good thing about RUclips... this video is already "old" but still a very good source to learn something. And that's what I did today. Thank you very much, now I understand the part out value much better. :-))) By the way: Happy new Year!
Awesome video. I think doing that kind of table is a smart idea to hep plan what to buy. Do you need to be logged into Bricklink to access the price guide page? Keep up the great videos.
Hi Fun Brick Creations! Just like Diesel19x91 said, you do not need to be logged in. The only thing you will not have if you are not logged is the "My Inventory Average" but the Past 6 Months Sales Average and Current Items For Sale Average will still show up.
Hi Scott! I think it is too much to explain here, so I'll explain on Sunday in the next episode of BrickSide Chat. BUT...overall its a good buy depending on your situation. I'll explain soon!
Hi Matthew! Just like zBricks said, you can download the Google Sheets app on your phone and use that. Just like excel or any other spreadsheet program.
Yes, we factor tax into our calculations when we are determining to purchase a set or not to part out. We also have some additional numbers and factors we take into account such as the likelyhood parts will sell quickly, and also the mini figure count as well in sets. This was just a basic idea to get the part out value of a set. Hope it helped! Thanks for watching!
Generally, you will spend more money to piece a set together than to just purchase the set, but sometimes it can be cheaper to get the parts for retired sets. Generally, you'll be better off buying the set though. Hopefully that is what you were asking. Thanks for watching!
but the assumption here is that you sell every brick you part out from a set which in never the case. Dont understand how you can make a leaving out of it.
Hi, I am almost about to start opening my Bricklink store. Your excell sheet looks so effective to see the best party out price (calculator) Can you share what to fill in in Excell so I can use this kind of spreadsheet? Would be very thankful.
@@vince7207 Hi, I realized I did not answer your question yet. I am doing fine with BrickMikeNL -shop. Currently I have 481 orders with no negative feedback. Sometimes I have 2-3 orders a day and a average of 5 a week. Ordervalue from small (€ 2,50) to larger (€ 45,00). I have grown my items from 3000 pieces to more than 35K in a year. Mainly by buying 2nd hands Lego. Many time a head real good items with a value of sometimes € 25,00 the piece. For example last time I found a black minifigure feather in a box and that piece was € 29,00 only (while I bought 1 cup full with Lego for € 8,50. To end with, with the profit I re-investe about 50% and the other 50% I buy new Lego sets for my private collection or something nice for myself. Thanks again for your interest and most imporant it is fun to do this. Going strong to year 2 :)
@@vince7207 Seriously. No way. I did see there are only a couple worldwide. I sold it to somebody in Poland for 29,- within 1 week after putting the item in my store. LoL
@@JediMike72 the figure itself only came in 2 sets i believe... I had one when I was a kid - currently trying to piece it back together. Even the yellow and blue ones cost a few bucks - I guess it's because they go missing easy, making them somewhat rare.
What is your solution for parts that are harder to sell or rarely move - such as brick separators, technic parts, etc? Also, when you have a haul of sets that need to be parted, how long does it take before you get around to parting them?
Hi knight 40k! I'll be answering these questions in the weeks episode of BrickSide Chat, but to answer them quickly here: We haven't had a problem moving items, but a sale would be the option most likely. How quickly we part out depends on the set, but for smaller sets, always within a week. Larger sets, just depends on the amount of open drawers we have, so sometimes they sit for quite a while.
You miss the most important thing when doing this, or maybe you skip it lol. I wouldn't make a video telling everyone how to do it. At least you are giving bad advice :)

These are the clearest and simplest to understand explanations of things on bricklink. Can’t wait to see what we learn next.
Hi Ryan!
I'm glad they are helpful and simple to understand. Thanks for watching!

@@Dieselx-pd5xv Thank you.
the part out value can be wrong because when i check the part out value i get 400$ but then if i try to buy all the pieces its only 250
Excellent idea to make the process faster and easier. Will you make a copy of the spreadsheet available to download?
Hi Ron,
That is a good idea. I'll make a template and put a link it in the comments! Thanks for the suggestion!
Nice!
Thanks Elizabeth!
Are you paying the tax also? Or is there a way to submit a resell certificate to Target?
What are your thoughts about parting out set 11011

What about sales tax from your purchase?
Does tax factor in ever to your calculation?

It is rare that it is better to assemble a set from loose inventory to try to get back your money faster?
