「貝聿銘：人生如建築」展覽回顧建築大師貝聿銘先生（1917-2019）的傳奇人生，由M+的王蕾、以及荷蘭鹿特丹Nieuwe Instituut 館長兼藝術總監陳伯康聯合策展。籌備七年，以六大主題角度，探討遍佈歐美東西方的重要項目，展出逾400件繪圖手稿、建築模型、相片、錄像和其他檔案，還有本地建築系學生參與之模型製作。這位20和21世紀深具影響力的美籍華裔建築師，他的建築夢裡，一直想設計一間現代特式的中國美術館，回顧其一生，最終在2006年在他的家鄉蘇州落實了。

M+, Asia's first global museum of contemporary visual culture, hosts an exciting retrospective on the life and work of renowned Chinese American architect Ieoh Ming Pei (1917-2019), affectionately known as I.M. Pei. This exhibition, titled "I.M. Pei: Life Is Architecture," is the first full-scale look at the incredible legacy of this 20th and 21st-century design legend.
This retrospective, curated by the talented team of Shirley Surya from M+ and Aric Chen from the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, has been seven years in the making. Visitors are invited to explore over 400 captivating objects that bring Pei's story to life-from original sketches and architectural models to photographs, films, and even large-scale models created by students from Hong Kong universities.
As you wander through the exhibition's six thematic sections, you can't help but feel inspired by Pei's remarkable journey. It's fascinating to learn that the dream of designing an art museum in China had been brewing in his mind since his days as an architecture student. The stunning Suzhou Museum project, completed in 2006, ultimately realised that dream.
I.M. Pei's visionary designs have left an indelible mark on the world of architecture, and this special exhibition at M+ is a wonderful opportunity to explore his remarkable story in greater depth.

"It is all about a harmony of structure and spirit. Like the music of Bach, it is extremely simple. There is always a theme, and there is a certain repetition, but it does not seem like repetition and endless varieties out of that simple theme. That is the challenge," said I.M.Pei about architecture in 60 min Plus TV programme.
