    Question - should the market and consumers be looking to use the most efficient power supplies?

    • @patricklebel1141
      @patricklebel1141 Год назад +4

      I would say yes, because efficient PSU are often the most durable ones with good warranty, but my wallet may have another opinion...

    Excellent review again ...clear, consice and easy to watch/ listen to 😊
    Just wondering if 60cm long 12v gfx card cable is long enough for a top mounted psu ,specifically thinking of the new Phanteks NV7 case 🤔😀
    Thanks for the video

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  Год назад +1

      debatable really, might be okay depending how you route it, might be worth ordering an extension to be on the safe side and return it if not needed

    Looks very high quality unit with matching power cables. Its a worry looking at upgrading and then having to check if the psu has suitable connections! Afraid even though I agree we should be using efficient devices but it is way out of my league. Besides which how long would it take to recover the extra price through efficiency savings? Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath (and Thermaltake!)👍

    What would be the best choice? Thermaltake Toughpower PF3 or Be Quiet Dark Power 13?

    That's a very nice power supply for sure. Thank you Thermaltake for sending it to Mike and Lady Kath to review. You know Mike, since you removed the cover and voided the warranty...and that is the last component I need for my Intel 12th gen build. I don't think Thermaltake would be too upset if it should go missing {hint, hint}? 😁 Great review as always guys. Take care everyone. Cheers

    The power supply is really good for the price. Got it for 200 euros for the 1200W variant. One thing that I would say I dislike about it is that the cables are somewhat short for a full tower. (Using the meshify 2 XL from Fractal)

    • @mikesunboxing

      don't forget you can also get extra cables from thermaltake if needed

    I was looking for 3 GPU Power Connector, beside +16pinHVPWR, within or around 1000watt PSU and the best thing it's also PLATINUM, in case of MSI PSU I would have to go for 1300watt which is PLATINUM by the way a very best PSU right now, because their 1000watt has only 2 GPU Power Connector and it's also GOLD. Thank You, MIKE.

    Did this have any coil whine when starting up or during usage? I have been reading/watching a lot of issues with the gf3 series, wondering how the Pf3 is, but you didn't do any quality control tests :(

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  Год назад +1

      seems there are some users of the GF3 series that it seems to me to not be correctly reacting to the PWM signal (this is my speculation) that is what i can see from the small amount of feedback i have had.
      How many units this applies to i would not like to speculate.
      It is times like this that the 10 year warranty is worth it's weight in gold, as a replacement unit can be requested if needed.
      With this unit there were no signs of whine when used, but my sample size is only 1 unit

    • @Mister.Miracle
      @Mister.Miracle Год назад +1

      @@mikesunboxing Thank you for the response, I was torn between purchasing the GF3 and the PF3. When researching on Cybenetics database on noise rating, most of the GF3,
      GF3 1200w - 40.98 db
      GF3 1000w - 37.48 db
      GF3 1350w - 41.53 db
      They are pretty poor for noise levels. So I gambled on the latest PF3 1200w (no reviews for them on cybenetics yet) as they have better build quality + regulation. Should in theory make them much quieter.
      The lower end GF3 fair much better in noise.
      GF3 ARGB 850W - 29.95 db
      GF3 850W - 29.81db
      GF3 750W - 27.02db
      Seems pretty accurate to me as the research I have been doing has been for the higher ones and those are the ones people complaining about. Some issues people were talking about noise on start up or fan noises like it is clipping something.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  Год назад +1

      @@Mister.Miracle yes the chirping noise is the PWM signal partially starting the fan rotation and some kind of relay switching or gate opening and it is at a strange frequency this has been reported by a few people

    It looks like a great PSU for a high end desktop, but in todays economic environment, I've just downgraded to using a 15w mini PC for general purpose work, unless I want to play high end games where I use my main pc (amd 5950x and rtx3080 which has a corsair 850w psu and drinks power!

    Price to performance its a little too much even for me. I also think we are moving away from power efficiency due to the quiet political war which has effected supply of Silicone and Capacitors result of which is generation of iess improved power hungry tech. At least AMD has the right approach but the world needs to come together for the sake of free markets and development and not just superpower greed. Power Efficiency is key for sustainability and the environment I hope next few gens of the AMD APU's will be capable and head in that direction.
