    Excited for a vegan video!
I’m a vegan (10 years) and spend £75-£100 a month for all my food (3 meals a day + snacks) all from Tesco. £20 of that is tofu/tempeh/seitan usually and the rest is whole foods (grains, legumes, vegetables, fruit) + some 85% dark chocolate (a bar a week) as it’s my favourite! Super easy, super cheap and super healthy. I aim for 100g protein a day without supplements and I almost always hit that 💪🏻 since people usually query if I get enough….
P.S we have the same lamp! Greetings fro South Devon

Thought you was amazing on the tv show. Well done!! 🥰 I was raised vegetarian and I guess have been vegan for the last 40 years mainly for the animals. I try not make any judgement on what other people eat as we are all on our own journey. If a recipe calls for eggs I usually use flax egg which is just flax seed and water. The channel I suggested below will give you so much useful information. Hope you're both having a relaxing weekend! 🥰

Hi. I recently found a good hack on how to open the lids on impossible to open jars. It has worked every time, so please try it. Basically, you use the bottle opener on an old-fashioned tin opener. Just put it on the lid of the jar pull (it may pop but not always), the lid loosens and you can easily open the jar. Lol, it's been a life changer for me.

  • @pollymccowen4321

Omnivore but plant based (& UPF free) here! I just LOVE plants and obsessed with legumes which are super cheap and tick the fibre and protein boxes.
Chickpea curry, hummus and aquafaba mayo (with leftover oil from jar of artichoke hearts) being made tomorrow with my chickpeas. When cooking dried pulses i like to cook loads and portion them up in freezer bags (about a cup in each).
Consider adding a box of small ziplock bags next time you are in Lidl; super handy for portioning stuff in the freezer instead of freezing packets of meat etc and they are sturdy enough to wash and reuse endlessly (although I always use the same bags for raw meat).
Budget cooking wise I would also keep your freezer stocked with bags of veg (peas, beans, broad beans and sweetcorn plus carrots, broc, cauli and spinach). I also have bags of chopped parsley and coriander (usually yellow stickered) and grated ends of hard cheeses. Having a well-stocked freezer makes budget cooking (and cooking for one) really simple and makes the freezer run more efficiently.
Don't forget to dry out any remains of those lemons and limes and blitz them to a powder for using in lieu of zests or as a seasoning!

Just discovered your channel a few hours ago and have been binge watching ever since🤣!
And I was SOOO happy when I saw you had a vegan series!
I have been vegan now for 4 & a half years. Never in a million years would I have ever imagined I'd one day become plant-based, especially after growing up on a farm for 18 years and eating meat & dairy practically every day of my life! I literally used to scoff at vegetarian options on a menu in a restaurant and always opt for a meat dish!!
5 years ago I started cutting meat out of my shopping budget to save money, then it gradually turned into eliminating all animal products.
My skin has never been better, I feel healthier, less weighed down after a big meal, I spend less on groceries, it's better for the planet, obviously better for the animals and my passion & experimentation in the kitchen has actually expanded way more since being vegan than ever before! You barely ever read up (or think) to consume animal products when you're feeling run down or your skin is rubbish or you need perking up - you think of fruit & veg and clean healthy food (hence they are more nutrious) and that was a light bulb moment for me only recently... If you research nutrient-dense food packed with minerals and body-benefits, it's never meat eggs or dairy listed, it's plant-based foods 🙌
Thanks for another great video, and sad to see you're stopping your channel when I've only just discovered you but I wish you all the best🥲
    💚🌱

I have been plant based for 25 years for health reasons - I had chronic fatigue syndrome and the doctors had no answers for me - but I found an alternative health practitioner who helped me so much - in 6 weeks of applying the nutritional advice she gave me my energy came back and I haven't looked back since. I loved cheese - that was hard to give up - but there are ways around it. Nutritional yeast lends a cheesy flavor to food. I also make cream cheese using cashew nuts on occasion.

A great week to make some quinoa crepes/wraps. 100g quinoa, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic or onion powder, teaspoon nutritional yeast. Soak quinoa 6 hours or overnight, wash and drain. Then blend with all ingredients until smooth, about 1 min, cook in pan on high heat, flip only when top is dry and has bubble! I have been vegan 30yrs l was vegetarian 14yrs befor that. I did it first for animals but also for environmental resons and world hunger. I don't eat a lot of meat substitutes as they can be expensive and l don't like the texture of some.l eat pulses, nuts tofu and tempeh. When l first went vegan in 1994 there was only soya milk and the vegan cheese was gross. Todays vegan cheese is much improved.Only one sort of
choclate bar was avalible now there are lots. It is now easier to buy vegan toiletries and cleaning products. Vegan shoes are easier to get now. It is much easier today to live vegan.

Just a little tip...store fruit and veg in glass jars they last much longer. Any leafy greens store them in a good Tupperware with either paper.towel or cloth napkin and flip the container upside-down in the fridge. This also works well for cucumbers chop them in coins or peppers halved and deseeded. I keep fresh fruit and veg for weeks.

If you fill your sink with hit soapy water when you start preparing your meals you can put your dishes and pots in as you go to soak. You will be more inclined to wash up as you go or at least stuff will be more or less clean when you do get around to washing up.

I think it’s so important to listen to our bodies in the moment about food needs. I have so many medical issues improved by having a reasonably clean diet and am in much better shape than any doctors expected me to be by this point in my 30s after the childhood I had.
I prefer a plant based diet for myself, which means I currently do eat everything, but once I use up some of the items in my home I won’t be purchasing them as often and will most likely consider myself flexitarian going forward. Some of my medical issues can interfere with my body actually absorbing nutritional needs which is why I can’t restrict too much further.

Super excited to see you doing a vegan video. I’m plant based, so I cook and eat vegan, but have been know to occasionally finish a bit of croissant or cake that my kid has left rather than putting in the bin. That said I won’t eat any kind of meat or fish, but that’s no judgement on anyone, my husband and kids are omnivores. I came to it through health and lifestyle doctors like Dr Michael Greger.

I'm in rural Australia. An electric car is just not practical here, too far between charging stations. I do however have a very reliable and economical little European car, which gets me from Adelaide to Melbourne on just under 1 tank of fuel, about 9 hours between cities, including short breaks. I know I said I'm rural and then mentioned a large city, but I'm 90 minutes from Adelaide.
Also, the roads in my area are horrendous, with pot holes everywhere.

I normally defrost things over night in the fridge .
So it is always at a safe temperature .
It can save 100 - 700 Watts over night .
Depending on the amount you're defrosting & the fridge .
Yes its penne's but it all helps .
For me that’s £35 a year off the bill .
So is that reclaimed or reused LOL
The exception is bread for toast .
I use it from frozen or it can end up like concrete …….

Funny thing is tht I finally like things like whipcream as it turns out I realy hate the taste of cow-dairy LOL.
