Another Compact Creation! with the Digi! this series actually inspired me to pick up making music once again, but this time DAWless. Week ago I got myself the Digi as the first music gear piece- yes Sir, You are responsible for this purchase! ;) BTW it's so easy to use and sooooooo much fun!
Nice. Got a project ongoing which is like "serious music", not just me toying with synthesizers. This sound perfect to get that music to Spotify so my friends can add it to their playlists. Because honestly, that's the only ones that will. :-)
I have a Squid and man, It's real nice. I made a patch the other day where I used a Hermod to control my Ensoniq Mirage as well as send triggers to the Squid. Within a couple minutes I had an entire drum library from the Ensoniq (have an old drum disk from the 80's somebody made) and all it took was setting up the patch and hitting play.

Great to have performance control over the Squid CV inputs to control volume, bit rate, cues, etc. Really opens up the possibilities of the Salmpler for live performance

Stcky keys on DT/DN are a common problem. Ask Elektron on support ticket and they'll send you a replacement key/switch for free. Swapping is easy - pull knob caps off, unscrew panel, pull the key, place the new one and it's done. No soldering, no crap.

I’ve been to the elektron julfest event in Berlin 2 days ago and had my first chance trying this beast of equipment out. It’s still tough for me to understand it at all but I’m getting this one because it’s crazy that you can create whole songs with it on the go. Even playing live sets with it.

I don't know what it is about this device, it has the perfect blend of power and restrictions that just seems to force amazing creativity out of it. About Distrokid, do they take any cut of the money? If you suddenly have 1m listens on Spotify, you get a whole dumptruck full of pennies. Do they take ANY of that?

I'd love to hear you break down your interfacing between Mutant Brain and Digitakt in more detail. I'm having trouble setting them up to work well together beyond basic gate/pitch.
I know this may be too late to be helpful, but I just came back to this video to figure out how he had it set to trigger all the salmple channels from a single midi channel and it looks like all you have to do is set the gates to be triggered by "MIDI note" in the left hand drop down of brain surgery and then select the note you want, and do that for as many of the 12 gate outputs as you want.

I get most of my stuff from signalsounds.com btw. My first case was a low cost doepfer, really good power supply and all, but damn is it "fatt" and the power intake on the back is just stupid. The smaller Doepfer cases however, have the intake on the side, and the black ones doesn't look that bad. I got modules that are to deep for the 4ms, just saying. And one last thing, there are several small companies in Europe that make cases but are kind of hard to find because of Google. (A bit early with this one but: Google killed it self)

Right. I’ve been thinking about music and art as escape vs becoming conscious for a while. I think helping people relax and become less stressed and so nicer to each other is a good start. I do believe that something of the consciousness of the artist comes across in the music, especially if the artist has a level of proficiency. And so then the artist has to examine his/her own soul and be aware of what is transmitted, be it good/bad or anything in between.
I remember reading a book a while back about how the ancient Chinese rulers strongly believed that the frequencies affected the state of humans and society, and they controlled what music was allowed, allowing only music and songs that enhanced the social order while banning others as disharmonious. Made we wonder what they’d think of heavy metal!! I wish I could remember the name of the book.

The clacky buttons are part of the aesthetics of the device. It's hard to explain really, but hearing/feeling the responses as you clack away triggers some weird lizard part of your brain and sends endorphins out. They are also sort of rubberized. They have a velvet-like texture to them. (Think higher-end remote controls, or knobs on expensive synths) That said, pressure sensitivity is record-able via MIDI IN and you can set individual note velocity by hand after the fact also
I was hung up on clicky buttons but now use my OG beatstep as a pad controller for digitakt and its pretty dreamy. So now I'm just hung up on the lack of mute groups.
@@Asiosky211 I think that is basically exactly wrong. Flat lenses arent prescription, they are flat and so dont alter the light, it just passes through. A curve in the lense will alter the path of the light, change the focal point etc. Not sure about the plastic though.
@@zeitgeist909 I've worn glasses since I was 3. I'm wearing them right now. The lens are curved on the inside not the outside. Maybe they are different for certain prescriptions but they are waaaayy flatter than say a pair on none prescription sunglasses.

Snag an MPC1000 with JJOS. Cheaper, with nice pads, a sample and sequencer that holds up to this day
I was hung up on clicky buttons but now use my OG beatstep as a pad controller for digitakt and its pretty dreamy. So now I'm just hung up on the lack of mute groups.

This is just an ask, but do your glasses have flat lenses? They remind me of the Indiana Jones movie...
flat lenses mean they are prescription. curved ones are usually just plastic
@@Asiosky211 I think that is basically exactly wrong. Flat lenses arent prescription, they are flat and so dont alter the light, it just passes through. A curve in the lense will alter the path of the light, change the focal point etc. Not sure about the plastic though.
@@zeitgeist909 I've worn glasses since I was 3. I'm wearing them right now. The lens are curved on the inside not the outside. Maybe they are different for certain prescriptions but they are waaaayy flatter than say a pair on none prescription sunglasses.
