They were only 18-22 years old when they made this first album! Absolutely love early Metallica
James hasn't developed his full voice yet, he was maybe 19! They're the best! My favorite band!!❤️🤘
Time, Famine, Pestilence and Death!
Off their first album. Just kids basically. This album also has their most underrated song imo "No Remorse".
Hey Mugs as a drummer I can confirm that is a ride cymbal you are hearing!! They are bigger than hi-hat and have more longer sustain to them (you will hear ride cymbals being used allot in Jazz)
Given that this song was on Metallica's first album the production isn't the highest qaulity also James Hetfield is still I think at this point finding his voice and seeing how his voice fits sonically with the band
If you listen to any songs from there later albums like either Master of Puppets or Ride the Lighting you will hear difference in production and James vocals!!!
This was the band's first record, and it came out in 1983.
The oldest guy in the band was 21 years old.
Metalllica is the gold standard of metal for a reason 🤔 enjoy the journey down the Metallica rabbit hole 😎
The albums fine tuned over time. The third is in the US library of congress for its significance. The band is no joke!!
Man you hit over 100 000 ...congrats brother , killing it
The four horsemen the song refers to is from the book of revelation in the Bible.
Thanks!
Thanks Mike!
That's the ride you're thinking of for the cymbal
Amen
Nice reaction. Peace!
Frayed ends of sanity, gotta do that one!
Damn....I love Metallica. I learned this song when I was 11. So much better out there. Check out some Dream Theater or Queensryche. You a musician and never heard Metallica? I was singing James Brown shit when I was 3. And I am 50
I didn't hear about Metallica til Beavis and Butthead lol.
Congratulations on 100,000+!!!! Hope this year is a great one for you, cheers and Godspeed!
On the mix: Thrash metal albums in the early 1980s were usually mixed with vocals mixed down as you describe. In fact, Metallica albums usually had the vocals mixed higher than most other bands at that time, and that was despite the fact that James Hetfield hated his singing voice in these early records.
James just sung like that in this era, actually! That tone started to go away in the albums by the time Ride the Lightning came out, but he still sounded like that live for a few years.
At this point in their career, the only thing keeping them from sounding like a Judas Priest cover band was the writing influence of Dave Mustaine. He helped write this song and many others in the Metallica catalog and gave James direction to study in. Their separation was good for both. They each got so0emthing they needed.
Christ all mighty…..Cliff’s bass is just frickin THUMPING !
Also care out in 83 not a bad song on it and they are the kings of switch ups!!
Great song. They were 19, inventing a whole new genre of music, and recording on barely any budget. (The singer does get better over time)
The riffs on this album are fkn awesome. they were written by former band mate Dave Mustaine, founder of MEGADETH!!!
Written by Mustaine but improved on by Metallica. You guys always forget that part! Evidenced by the Four Horsemen being thrash royalty and Mechanix being just meh, something even Mustaine conceded to.
Oh we doing this....HERE FOR IT
GOAT
You win at reacting to this song. 👍😎
Great song.
What’s up Mugs
More bangers on this album.
Phantom Lord
Hit the Lights
Metal Militia
Metallica will take you through a journey of history, biblical and otherwise! 🤘
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That's a "ride" cymbal you are hearing.
Not a Hi-Hat, a Ride Cymbal 👍🏽
The 4 horsemen are biblical. I don't know if it stuck W you or not but; even though Dave Mustaine is a great artist Mechanix is not really worth listening to. If you choose a Megadeth song: Sweating Bullets or Darkest Hour are great starting points.
I like that you put deeper thought into your reactions!! Don't change it;; I'll be checking out more of your reacts - then possibly subscribe.
Yes it’s a hi-hat lol😊😊
If you would like to dive into a newer metal band who has influences like 80’s and 90’s metal check out a Japanese band called Lovebites. Any song will blow your mind how technical and hard they hit. I guarantee you will become a fan the deeper into their catalog of songs you go. Maybe start out with Holy war live and strap in
THE GENERAL!!! Dave Mustaine… wrote this and was fired and formed Megadeth
You've now discovered the greatest metal band of all time. Listen to "The Thing that Should not Be"
The whole album is fire, don’t miss the bonus tracks
The bridge was straight from the book of Revelations in the Bible
Ride cymbol you trying to zone in on??
🙏❤🙏
I recommend research on this track … a huge fight between the the band and the co-founder and songwriter of this album: Dave mustaine! Dave was kicked out and founded megadeth and kept on writing thrash metal songs! Because the four horsemen wasn’t fast and powerful enough for Dave he was telling something like „then we can do somenthing soft like sweet home Alabama! So there are two versions of this Dave’s and megadeths mechanix and metallicas 4horsmen and you can hear that it is the same song differently interpreted!
Kirk channeling Tony Iommi in his guitar solo.
🤙💯🇺🇸💯🤙
The bridge in that song was a joke made by Mustaine when the drummer said they needed a slower melodic part. It is just Sweet Home Alabama played slower. Dave played it as a joke because he knew Cliff was a huge Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. Cliff later recorded it, but was not spur of the moment in the studio as that claimed.
ride cymbal
Gotta do Mechanix by Megadeth .. Dave Mustaine was the original Metallica guitar player. He wrote the riff, structure and vocal melodies. He was kicked out of the band, his meth habit playing a part. He later released his version of the song, and there is a highly charged debate amongst fans of the 2 bands about which version is better.
@@L3titBrn not even a debate faster doesn't mean better Dave sounds like a strangled goose and the lyrics for the mechanix are cringe af
I like the mechanix intro better, but yeah its mostly the lyrics that make it a worse song imo@@samuele.celotti999
Are you a Metallica hater. Don’t feel sorry for Dave everything happens for a reason.
Good song though.
@@samuele.celotti999 more punk .. more attitude.. hilarious lyrics with personality.. plus superior musicianship;)
@@L3titBrn hilarious to you everytime I hear those lyrics I get the second hand embarassment goosebumps don't get me wrong I love megadeth but I can't stand Dave's voce, personality and attitude if Dave got a proper singer for the band in the early days they would sound so much better
Metallica singing about horrifying shit since 1981😂😂😂
Can I get an Amen?😊
Dave mustaine's one that wrote that song Metallica stole it that's why they mustang get to pay the percentage of everything they do
You’re now messing with the best
new United States add Canada...fafo...We are done Wasting American Tax Payers Dollars!!!
👊💯🥰💯👊
