I just liked , subscribed after hearing your insight on the lyrics. These guys hit through some tough times and good times. Because of the lyrics. And also their musical talents.
This takes me right back to high school. I'm glad there's reactors out there now that will go out of their comfort zone to discover different styles of music. I'm not a typical metal person but I enjoy their music.
This guy plays guitar while playing a great harmonica in his song, "You Cannot Win if you do not Play".....performed by Steve Forbert who had one big hit in his life but this track's harmonica is awesome

Most of the lyrics in Metallica songs are deep and well written. Check out Disposable Heroes, Master of Puppets, Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, Harvester of Sorrow, Dyers Eve…the list goes on!
I think this song had a foreshadowing, especially the lyrics speaking about the description of a whipping had done nothing wrong into a society that never gave him a chance to become the man he was ment to be.

For sure Kirk Hamett was obsessed with the blues. Buddy guy was one of his idols, you can hear it in the frantic vibrato on the string bends
