My mother suffered from systemic schleroderma got sick when I was 10, it got really bad towards the end, and she self medicated with alcohol and took her own life when I was 20. It had progressed and started to affect her organs and mind. I used to call her phone to hear her vm recording until they reassigned her number. I'm 42 now and I listen to the songs you talk about her and how close you were to your mother. I'd give anything for more memories and just to talk to her one more time. I raised my 10 year old sister and my father drank himself almost to death. And I have issues with addiction. My son was born 4 years after she passed he just joined the Navy this year and got me listening to your music. He relates and it's helped him so much, he's had his heart broken and has seen so much pain in our family. You tell his story and mine at the same time. I've been reading comments from a lot of your songs and people connect with your words more than you could ever comprehend... Don't put that pen down son, and thank you for your service to this country and for your gift.

My nana raised me since the day I was born, she was my mother. I strayed a lot when she got sick because it pained me to see her slowly leaving. The first time I heard this song, it was being played by an amazingly talented young man in Scotland named William in a Facebook group and I cried so hard for so long. I've had three former girlfriends pass away, not while we were a couple, but we've always been good with each other, and that song hit me. I have lost so many friends and classmates in the last three years, for reasons I don't know.

My mother suffered from systemic schleroderma got sick when I was 10, it got really bad towards the end, and she self medicated with alcohol and took her own life when I was 20. It had progressed and started to affect her organs and mind. I used to call her phone to hear her vm recording until they reassigned her number. I'm 42 now and I listen to the songs you talk about her and how close you were to your mother. I'd give anything for more memories and just to talk to her one more time. I raised my 10 year old sister and my father drank himself almost to death. And I have issues with addiction. My son was born 4 years after she passed he just joined the Navy this year and got me listening to your music. He relates and it's helped him so much, he's had his heart broken and has seen so much pain in our family. You tell his story and mine at the same time. I've been reading comments from a lot of your songs and people connect with your words more than you could ever comprehend... Don't put that pen down son, and thank you for your service to this country and for your gift.

Lost my mom to depression in February and deployed a few months after. I’ve never felt more lonely then I have been lately. I have a wife (who loves me more then she loves herself sometimes) and I couldn’t be more thankful to have her in my life and to have had her help me through everything and I love her with all of my heart but that miserable shitty feeling that’s been in my heart after my mom passed just hasn’t been able to go away… My mom was my best friend and someone I could go to about anything and everything at any point and time. I’ve never missed anyone like how I miss her and I just wish I could feel one of her big momma bear hugs one last time. This life just isn’t fucking fair. I love you momma❤️
