    Damn honest to God I learn so much in these videos that I'd never begin to think of lol. I hope these keep coming, because this series could become one of the best ways to learn the game

    Couple other anti-Dan points, one of which is mentioned in chat in the video:
    1: He gets more plus frames if you block crouching than if you block standing. A lot of players' instinct in high pressure situations is to block low and see what happens, but if you block low, it's gonna be really hard to get out of his pressure blender unless you got an invincible reversal or something.
    2. It's actually really tricky for Dan to gauge the spacing that's optimal to throw out L. Dan kick in neutral. Typically throwing it out at the end of block strings will improve his spacing a lot(especially if he's using v-skill 2), but if he just throws it out when he's already pretty close after a knockdown like he does at 5:33 then there's a pretty good chance you can challenge him right there with your fastest buttons. It's important to visually recognize all the stuff that Brian mentioned here with Dan's hop arc, but as fights with Dan get pretty nutty, sometimes it's nice to just know that there's certain conditions and scenarios you can use to your advantage. Once Dan players know they can't go full ham against you, it's a lot harder for him to build his momentum.

    I’d love to see a series of a pro player bringing up a rookie a bronze player. Like begin with how they will train the player, the training session, and the results of the training success.

      Well, he got a number of supplementary videos on the topic, not the least of which is one called 'Why You're Stuck in Bronze'. He's really good at training players for the level that they're at, and the information in this video, wouldn't really be all that useful for a Balrog player in Bronze, cause they're still just pressin' buttons and getting a feel for the character. If they getting blow'd up by nutty Kens just nailing every jump-in target combro sequence, then they need to get in the lab and just program dummy to jump-HP all day so they can get their anti-airs on reflex. If they actually spend *any* time using the dummy for anything other than just a punching bag, then that automatically puts them at a huge advantage over your typical Bronze player.

      Rookies and Bronzes for the most part just need more time in the game. Overtraining people who are lacking experience doesn’t help them.

    • @frangeek90
      @frangeek90 3 года назад +5

      Strong is medium and fierce is heavy punch/kick. It is not character specific, it is just a different way to name the medium and heavy buttons

    • @Glennjamyyyn
      @Glennjamyyyn 3 года назад

      @@frangeek90 I hear Brian just say fierce or strong without punch or kick after it. Does each one belong to kick or punch? And why the hell do they keep saying it???!

    • @BrainGeniusEditor
      @BrainGeniusEditor 3 года назад +18

      Old school street fighter terminology:
      Jab = Light Punch
      Strong = Medium Punch
      Fierce = Heavy Punch
      Short = Light Kick
      Forward = Medium Kick
      Roundhouse = Heavy Kick
      This is for all characters not just Balrog! Though most people will just use lp/mp/hp etc these days.

    I don’t play ranked and only play with friends in Battle Lounge. It’s difficult finding sparring buddies on the game. Watching these videos has been very helpful to me as I suck at a lot of things still. I feel I’ve hit a wall or a limit when it comes to my skill.

      Not an expert but v-skill lets you threaten the high hit, so you can mix up the opponent. Brian has talked before about using the low punch to set up meaties after throw, though.
