Holy fuck that last freestyle 57:00. That may have been a level up. Girls at the Guggenheim and now this. It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks or claims, you are the absolute without a doubt the greatest freestyle rapper that will ever exist.
He's in my top five now
Oh maaaan, the guggenheim story freestyle was so crazy! It’s a different level to remember all that detail and manage to put it in a verse without large amounts of filler lines to buy time to think.
You can literally see Daru thinking "Harry is amazingggggg" every beat, harry attttte 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Harry gave this man an amazing intro!! You could definitely tell the respect and admiration harry has for daru
💯💯💯 well deserved
56:48 is flow state to the highest degree and one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen Harry do. Truly free flowing with no boundaries and no limit to the skill. What an amazing thing to witness
Daru jones face says it all he heard the GOAT fr.
I've followed HM for years and watched over a hundred hours of his material, but the latest collaboration in this video was especially outstanding! The organic way the two artists read each other and collaborated was amazing! We need more HM and live acoustic music!!
That was sick!! We need a Harry/Daru EP!! 🔥👏🙏
I'd fw that
Daru is the embodiment of the phrase 'interested people are interesting people'
That closing freestyle was maybe one of the illest off top freestyles ever recorded. 4+ minutes of flawless double time with cadence switches to a live improvised drum beat!? That was unbelievable.
This is the best drums Harry has freestyled over so far! Harry drumming for himself excluded, of course.
Daru is a beast! So amazing to hear about his process, come up, and outlook on Flow State / the Anointing.
Alright, two beasts in one studio! My new favorite drummer is Daru Jones. There was absolutely nothing to not love in his musicianship. His use of silence around and in between the flow was the best I’ve ever heard. He never got in the way of H Mack’s flow and he plays so much with so little as only a brilliant craftsman can. I’ll definitely check out his snl segments with Jack White. Harry, it goes without saying, crushed the living hell out of those two freestyles. The same can be said for the interview.
I listened to this podcast in iTunes but after hearing this opening freestyle and drum solo I had to come to RUclips to see this in person…
Mack just never misses, and this freestyle was so fresh with such a simple and smooth drum beat behind it… 👏👏👏👏👏
The timing is so spot on, that the show kinda ended exactly at @1:00:00
Bro really said "thats it" right on the dot.
People don't even get how crazy this is.... my goodness you got some fire guests man 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing guest + amazing host = amazing podcast!! Thanks to everyone involved for this one! 🔥🔥🔥
Is it just me?? Or would anyone else enjoy Harry Bangin the drums while spittin a freestyle??
He has done that! But yeah I would love to see more except I don't want this dude to burn out lol
If thats what you'd enjoy seeing, Look up "Amen Brother: Harry Mack Freestyles Over Classic Drum Breaks" 🤙🏻

@@JEFFwasHERE... THAT is the one!
You keep this level of quality music interview with the best in the world followed up by collaborations, this podcast is going to be an absolute must watch for anyone who loves music of almost any genre! Amazing Harry Mack and Daru Jones! That collab at the end was INSANE!!!
Harry and Daru need a standing schedule for a weekly session. This live collab is the nutz.
Another great pod ep!
Loved it at the end when they ended the freestyle song and Daru said something like "that's the one", like he's used to do it many times to record a song with other artists, but Harry was like, yup, we're done, thanks!
Measure twice. Cut once.
Dope guest! Love the vibes and conversation.
Hell Yeah! Im loving these guests!
I want a Daru & Harry Tour please. Maybe add Oteil Burbridge on bass and you have the coolest and funkiest improv trio of all time.
Here we go, HM’s podcast show 🔥🥁🔥
🙏🏼❤️🔥🙏🏼Much love Both!
The Greatest of all Times.
Hid the best part for last. I see🐐
That closing session OMG! Wow
Harry got in his "Yeah" bag this one, watch out for that. But he was definitely fanboying out lol.
As a drummer and fan of Harry Mac, I absolutely love this Daru is amazing!! I love this podcast, I wish I could subscribe again
R I P Guru
♥♥♥
Much love Harry and team keep these up ❤
JEFF was HERE 🏆
Damn right!!!
MOIST!😊
that's an interesting way to orient the drums, I've not seen anyone with their kit setup like that.
one thing that blew me away with the dilla/daru timing was the opposite off-grid drum placements. hiphop used to be with a late snare like with 70s funk grooves, and then with the wonky feel its more way ahead snare and kick and late hats. and then the "mistake" kick hits that hits the WOOO spot! ouf! that kick that hits in the most wrong spot always hit me hard! always wanted to hear what daru had to say about those way ahead kik/snare hits. haha, soo precious bump. trying for years to replicate that feel with drum programming i finally figured out it works best to actually just be abit drunk when playing live drums, lol. big inspiration mister daru! daru & rena! reggie b & daru! favorite albums
that ENDING JAM was INCREDIBLE!! holy crap.
Immaculate vibes in this interview. What a cool and humble dude Daru is.
Keep shining HMack! Make the whole world smile!
That snare is cleaannn
That freestyle at the end over the drums was amazing. I need more of that kind of content!
Speechless.
Suck a dope colab!! I’ve seen Daru twice at Jack whites concerts.
The closing session was Absolutely MAGICAL!
You can clearly see that Daru Jones is a Christian and Harry Mack is not, but God is working through Harry all the time, by the way he conducts himself in every interaction, this was such a dope interview. Everyone should conduct themselves like these two individuals, the world would be such a great place to be.🙏🏾
yeah, harrys humility and elevation of vibes, the respect and love for all the permanent flowstate AKA annointedness, harry is the embodiment of christian values - just lifting up life
Daru is a great example of how being flashy doesn't necessarily mean being good. Another drummer who perfects the minimalist approach is DJ from Khruangbin.
There is an epic video of John Mayer on the stage with BB King. And he(Mayer) plays this beautiful form of hyper scale notes and then BB King just plays like 70% less notes...
Yeah...
You could almost hear his mind saying: "Aight youngblood. Lemme show u how its done..."
Amazing guest, amazing pod. 🔥freestyles
When he close those eyes, he sees the most Clearly.
I really enjoyed your conversation between two legends. The passion from both of you is infectious. I love this video. Thank you, Harry TWO LENGENDS PERIOD !!!!!
Harry lookin like a kid on Christmas in this one ♥
Been waiting for this one lets gooooooooo
First Flow State Episode I watched fully
I absolutely loved it!
It got me present watching 2 masterful beings together
That last freestyle was just bonkers!
Never disappoints ❤
that first beat is fire
Man, i would have loved to be in that room. Watching it through this screen was magic, but to feel that energy live would have been something else. Harry X Daru collab brought to you by Stones Throw is match made in heaven for me. This project needs to happen, get Madlib to produce…
Holy smokes, HM is the absolute GOAT!!
Wow man, so good. I've been watching him since he was at 100k subs. He just keeps getting better. Lesssssgo brother.
Can’t believe how lucky I am to be here so early. Good work boys.
This is a good episode, Daru is a great guest to have on this Podcast!
WOW the end was brutal
Buddy has the most wild drum set-up I've ever seen.
That was the sickest freestyle at the end and a wonderful conversation before.
Jesus... that last one had to be written, there ain't no way!!
Haha.. u don't you know Harry yet then.. lol
Jazz improv + language is an interesting skill fosho.
I almost feel like this a graffiti wall for a second.
Check out a Mozambiquan rapper named "Aza Gaia". Sadly he is no longer with us...yet his music is fire af. Probably even better if u speak portoguese.
Aza Gaia literally translates to "javellin" or something similar I think.
If you trace that back far enough tho I think it means: "Javellin for the Earth" (OR maybe "javellin FROM the earth")
Fire music. Thank me later. IF you do not speak portaguess...then I guess you should find the subtitled music videos.
Lets gooo...
2 dope artist. Just enjoy this ride
Harry spitting hard 🔥🔥🔥
Waiting for the Flow State album with the music generated on all episodes
Great interview and INSANE freestyle session at the end. one for the books!
Beautiful.
What a collaboration !!!! ✌🔥🙏
Daru is the man!
Absolutely killed it at the end 🔥
Dope !! Great Duo, these two would be dope on tour.
Lowkey chill with the “yea” adlibs every sentence! Fire ass podcast and freestyle tho! Killing it as always
love the improvement on the pod. I watched every single episode and the little info cards are really helpful. might go unnoticed for many but it's a subtle increasment of quality. thats what gets through.
What? So happy to see these guys interact. Enjoy guys!
Priceless 💎
hell yeah!!!
Holy shit dudes are riding the drum beat like sticks this is sick!
Thumbs up for the opening rap!!! WOW! Won't take it back whether I like the rest or not. Thanks! Yeah, well, it was ALL great!
Love the live drums🤘🔥
👍
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
lyrical Mark!!!you are one in a million!
I always gives a huge thumbs up before I watch cause I know it's gonna be fire
No bettah drummin’ than in the pocket drummin’ ‼️⭐️😍🎉🌟 Vibessss beyond Thanks to you both 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The so called J Dilla style is honestly quite difficult. The only way I can understand that is via Aphex Twin and concept of flim/flam and variable tempo.
That Oppenheimer movie track "Can You Hear the Music" is exceptional. The amount of tempo variation is fire, and very difficult to understand let alone play properly-ish.
Basically you have to view tempo as a (physical) sine wave; and time signature as an equation. Particles and waves ...
@@py_a_thon lol
What an awesome guest to have.
I can't wait to see what they do after this!!!!
Drink every time Harry says "yeah"
Always amazing.
This so dope!
Best episode yet!
They should teach flow state in school
Wes was here and was enlightened 😅
So dope.
Ayye great episode🎉🎉
Dope!
Lessssgoo
yessir! daru!
Daru Jones Sr. be like..."Yo baby, why dontchu come over here and let me teach you how to play this organ and maybe later you can come back to my place to play my organ too" 😂
this is fire
Intro jam session is the moveee
please release that last freestyle on spotify that was insane
❤️✅️🔥👌 love this so much!
