- New York officials are investigating the scene near former President Donald Trump's "hush money" trial where a man set himself on fire after pouring a form of liquid over his head. Officials with the New York Fire Department and New York Police Department give an update on their investigation.

Wow! I’m impressed with the professionalism of the police, fire and other agencies that responded to this incident. It sounds like they are handling everything very well.
We need to address mental illness. There are too many people that don't or can't get help. We need institutions of some kind that are affordable and can help rehabilitate people and provide other services.

Probably because they lack any info to make any informed queries because it’s too early. The police barely know what’s going on yet, let alone have enough info to convey to the press or the public. So the press just throw out the most random, often inane things, like a manager who makes you change things at work just so they feel like they’re doing something.
Everyone wants info _right now_ , but investigations take weeks if not months, and this story will be forgotten and moved on from before anyone knows anything to tell.

Four responders were injured in the rescue of the Florida man. 72 hours psych eval in his future and the cops.Wounds that extend over 30% of the surface area are considered critical and fatal often. A sterile debridement and isolation on admittal to the burn ward of a top hospital and sedation & pain control challenges with mechanical vents perhaps initially. Skin grafts would be the hope from his own body or donors. A long road to court. What brought him to this? NYC finest will have the file for Maxwell and his family until any charges are weighed for disturbing the peace and self harm.

One of the most painful injuries that one can ever experience is a burn injury. When a burn occurs to the skin, nerve endings are damaged causing intense feelings of pain. The body involuntarily gasps in pain causing the fire to enter into the lungs.
This is what happens when you start believing conspiracy theories.

I live in St. Augustine FL. This guy was arrested twice last autumn for vandalism and disturbing the peace. I don't know him personally but may have seen him a couple times, at stores I worked at. There is a large homeless population in this town and many of them are mentally ill. I'm very sorry he was obviously suffering and didn't get enough help or mental health support. ☮️ Rest in peace poor guy.
