Two concepts: 1. 3v3 battles, so the northern, central, and southern parts of the front are all active instead of just microing one bit like what happened here. 2. Taking the capital is a common victory condition, but it means that if the enemy can sneak a single enemy through the lines, the game's lost. I recommend a victory point system so that after a certain percentage of towns and cities have fallen you lose.
As of the concept 1, I was going to fix the issue of being active on the entire front by improving the way you control units, so that it takes much less time and attention to focus on one front. But, obviously, if my solution does not work, I will add 3v3 battles and it seems like another great way to solve the problem. I quite like the concept 2 also, I will consider adding a system of points. What I was planning to do before is rather add some troops that will guard the capital and maybe some cities, to eliminate the risk of a minor breakthrough.
Yes this is a good concept. I have always wanted a game that is in the style of the @KingsandGenerals youtube videos and this is kinda like that. Definetely keep expanding on this 👍
Nice work! Earned a sub. Perhaps some kind of pathfinding could be added for units to allow smarter redeployment around a front. Double click could be pathfind and regular click could be attack, also a shift click action for attacking that lets you make curving paths would be nice. Good luck :D
Very cool proof of concept. If would like any help with visuals, graphics, etc. I would certainly be willing to lend a hand. One thing I think you should check out if you haven't already is Line of Battles. It's set in Napoleonic Europe and is RTS, though a little different from what you're doing. If nothing else, it would be useful to see how things work in that game, especially because the game is in active development at the moment. If you are able to, talking to the lead dev might also be really useful. One thing to consider is starting a discord or community server since this has attracted quite a bit of attention. If you find yourself in need of money it's useful to have a server with people who are actively interested in seeing this game succeed.
Thank you for your advise. I have already seen Line of Battles and furthermore it was my motivation to create this channel. I will try to contact the lead developer too. I haven't used discord before, but I think it is a great idea to create a server.
@@TeaAndPython Hey dude, I know it's a bit far from that, but if could, could you upload this game to steam. I am not a coder, and I have no idea how this works, but I would love to play this game as I have been searching for something like this for a while.
Great looking game so far. One thing that would be nice is maybe other unit types? Like each side starts with tank/cavalry along side some of the reserves?
This game would be great if it were that active with 3 nations, and servers would be parts of the front, so you could join a server against one guy and win, giving gains of some land. Basically, like it is in Helldivers, but that's a long stretch. So far, good job; keep going.
this is really cool, i love seeing how the red player in the north outmanoeuvred the blue player. It would be interesting to see the frontlines move more, like in the center Blue outnumbered red, maybe their mass could be able to push the red units back if they all moved forward? I don't think i saw the Blue player push that advantage.
You are right. To be fair, it is quite hard to pay attention to the entirety of the frontline when you play the game, and the way controlling the units works also does not help. So what happens is that both players kinda ignore the center and focus on the flanks because it already takes all of the time and attention. I too noticed this problem and I am still trying to come up with a solution of how to make it simpler to control the units. But as soon as I solve this, games will become more exciting😊.
made an mode which is the world map with all 198 countries of the world excluding those tiny islands which you can unite under the largest ones or leave out, it would take a lot of effort to make it accurate but it can work, you can make ship units that can engage in naval combat and take out invading forces, and some transport aircraft/ship to allow getting over water, and if transport aircraft go over an unit it takes a bit of damage but isnt stopped to simulate FLAK or general AA so transport aircraft doesnt break the game, and the capital has long range FLAK so you cant just drop them on there
Adding a single player mode is an interesting idea, and I will try implementing it in the future, however, there is a lot of difficulty in programming the bot to play against.
dang this actually looks like a fun little game tho i doubt it will get much attention due to big competitors like HOI4 Also you got your self a like and a subscriber :)
Oh cool, challenge accepted. If you have a cool map and you want to share it though, I am happy to add it to the game and mention you, coz' I kinda dislike the current map.
An encirclement, essentially, has a separate economy inside it. So, if there are 7 units and 1 city in an encirclement (1 city can pay for maximum 4 units), units will slowly die one by one until there are 4 of them.
That's right. I drew the buttons and the map in scratch coz' I am used to that graphic editor, and yes, it is the 'pixel' font. However, based on my experience, scratch has extremely high ping in online variables which makes it almost impossible to use for online games. I coded this game in pygame and used sockets for online connections though.
I used 'conquest of dots' as the file name in all of my code, however, I'll need to clarify whether I can use because dumb.mapping already uses it. As of the release date, I hope that by August I will code a decently working game, though my concern is that I will not get enough audience by that time, and because there is no single player option, I will need to postpone the release, so that there are actually enough people playing the game, and you don't have to wait for hours in the lobby to get connected to another player.
This is rly impressive bro, i will 100% play this if you release it in the future

Oh yeah, I am planning to add tanks and infantry. Cavalry seems like a good idea too.
Always wanted a game that modeled maneuver warfare on this scale with this kind of simplicity. Keep up the good work!
as a former scratcher, this is awesome. Hope one day you would be famous.

awesome. keep updating this please

@@TeaAndPython maybe you could try some kind of gesture/drawing controls like after selecting a unit you can quickly draw a path for them to take
This is what I was thinking about.

@@TeaAndPython it's an RTS game with the same concept, unfortunately designed mostly for online multiplayer which I am not that Into

Edit: Maybe even adding a campaign later on?

dude... this is amazing. If you are looking for a playtester... I would totally be interested!
Definitely, I'll ask you when it comes to testing.
this is super sick!
nice to see the old poor hoi4 concept made into an actual game.. wish you luck friend
Fun fact, this actually already exists, it's a game called lines of battle
Ok so I have a great way to show the units health. A pie chart. It goes down while attacking and being attacked.

Love it
OH YEAH 200TH SUBSCRUBER
promising so far cant wait to see future development on it! what are your next plans of things u want to add?
I plan to improve the interface of the game, because the current one is a bit slow and uncomfortable.
looks cool
Was this inspired by that one animator? Eastory style?
bro this is the type of stuff I do in class when im bored except I make more detailed maps :)

Though, can you use the same colour scheme as in the video, and preferably, the map has to be without a sea? Thanks

Bro is going to keep developing until it just becomes hoi4(not to demotivate I still like the game and would like to play it)
there also should be a unit dying/making thing, but I think that's obvious.
Eastory style mapping?
cool
When do yoh think this should release and will it cost money?
im claiming my pre 125 subs reward
yes please :D
This is a very cool idea
Will it be available on android?
I plan to release it for Windows and Mac first, but it is possible to redesign it for android in the future.
where can i play?
BUT... i really want to play this game, but from the looks of it its in development.
Is it playable now?

i'm gonna assume this is made with the scratch game engine, because of the fonts and the general feel, just from looking at the visuals
