I love the magical polar opposites of paradox dlc. You have the South american dlc, where it just makes the most overpowered nations. Then, the la resistance dlc added the espionage part of the game no one wanted.
But it's basically unplayable without colab governments, at least it's the reason I won't quit games when I'm supposed to fight the Soviets anymore. Spies have a lot of good uses though and they do help the game. I just wish that they were more gamey

Oddly enough I tried to play Portugal tonight, going down the monarchy path to annex Brazil... and got bored because I didn't want to do a portugese civil war, and worker conditions never came back after the first time so it's impossible to get the 40% stability required to avoid the civil war.
If I remember correctly there is a decision that must be taken to switch to fascism as Franco. I can't remember if you have to boost fascism or if you can immediately take it upon finishing the civil war
Strengthening resistance can be effective in occupied states which still have the in exile modifier, like boosting resistance in Belgium can work better since they are a small nation with higher resistance and lower compliance as they were just conquered
The funny thing about that is that when I started playing hoi4 back in like 2018 or something, I spammed stage coups because my child mind thought it was the best thing in the game And tbh, I was sorta somewhat right at the time, but now? Nah not even close not at all
Strengthen resistance is not about the revolts, it's about the equipment blackhole as rebels keep hitting the garrisons and damaging them costing THOUSANDS of guns to the occupier (It's really strong in Poland as they get buffs and they spread to a lot of states so they'll delete guns really hard)
Rather than the little pointless espionAge operations, i think that infiltrate navy, infiltrate army, and colab government are the only ones worth doing. that and decrypTion obviously

Worst part is raising resistance used to be viable before PDX decided the AI needed to learn how to use different occupation laws. Not to mention it broke a ton of foci that rely on raising resistance to trigger quick rebellions like for Ethiopia. Same with reintroducing the same mechanic again in ToA for certain nations.. downright impossible to do without first manually raising resistance now to offset the giant -X% resistance whenever they change law.
As a new hoi4 player ( actually have had the game for awhile now, but only just recently had gotten into it ). I have around 500hrs so far, And honestly? I absolutely hate the Spy Agency BS. So much so, I went to play HOI4 without all the DLC, and had a much better time there. Of course, having to actually garrison the occupied territories ain't fun, but its something. Overall, it wasn't really that bad. Plus, all you had to do was click a button to boost whatever ideology and coup. Simple as that. With the Spy dlc stuff, you gotta do so much extra bs, I hardly ever even use it fairly ( meanin, I tend to use the console to save me the pain and suffering from it ). I know people will prolly frown on me for using the console to cheat the Spy agencies, but tbh? Do any of you actually enjoy it? If so, good for you. I sure don't. End rant. If you start on the resistance missions immediately upon capitulation the Warsaw uprising does work and if you get lucky on the timing it'll destroy the German supply lines in Russia. Usually works well when the state your trying in has modifiers to increase resistance
Conceptually I really like the spy stuff, but I feel like everything just takes far too long for it to be worth it. I will say the coup thing is much better when you do all the prep for it: all the infiltrations and have a 40% or higher party popularity, as it makes the breakaway much stronger.
I think the game mechanic of starting revolutions giving you an option to make them your vassal state would make them more fun. Now it kinda just takes away land you can use in the conference for no real reason. It costs you too much to be worth it
I’d like to know if at some point you’ll be able to use the “conditional surrender command”. You can declare war, improve relations and do changes to your government but you can’t use the conditional surrender.

I think a few features of La Resistance were pretty good. But they should've been in the game from the start or a free update.
Collabs are the only good part of that dlc, turn it off and you can coup any country easily
