- The vastness of the Lonestar state has always been a blessing & a curse; while the breadth & culture of its various metal scenes provides a deep diversity,...the long distances often times keeps fans isolated & in silos. I often feel that way about the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Very few times in my career have I had the pleasure of visiting & relishing in the rich history of its scene; but when you take into consideration the greatness of such bands as Gammacide, Rigor Mortis (Official), Creeping Death, Power Trip, Drowning Pool &,.....Pantera it's quite easy to fathom that the cloth of its yesteryear is only getting stronger in the here n' now. One band that has taken up that calling in 2021 are the icy death metallers known as, Frozen Soul! Initially, making their presence known in 2019 with the release of their now highly sought after EP, 'Encased In Ice', the band hasn't looked back,...paving their own way through the perma frost of wayward bands & claiming their own place in the history of Texas metal. On August 11th, 2021 I had the opportunity to meet up with the band (at the Paper Tiger) to get up n' close & personal. With a new record deal in hand (via Century Media Records) & a NEW recorded offering, the acclaimed, 'Crypt of Ice', we sure did have A LOT to chat about. SO, in the interview below you will see us discuss the following: the formation of Frozen Soul, the Dallas metal scene, the recording of Crypt, Century Media, touring plans, new music & the uncertainty of the pandemic. I am a HUGE fan of FS, so I was truly happy (& giddy) to get this one done. I hope for nothing but HUGE success for the band, as they bring their Texas brutality to the world this year. People compare them with BOLT THROWER 🤘🏼, but they are more like JUST BEFORE DAWN with different theme in lyrics!
