Sly Stone a musical genius who’s still paving the way to the funk our ears love. Hats off to this band for remembering their roots and saluting Sly and the Family Stone. 👏🏻
well, it's not a competition and i'm a fan but there are plenty of bands out there that are as good live. maybe just not stuff you're into, but that's all good. like i said, it's not a competition. be thankful there's something out there that works for u.
So true. I mean just the sheer level of talent in their band is just insane. There are other bands with great musicians and great music but where they maybe lose the top spot is even trying to be in the same category as Susan's voice and Derek's guitar abilities were obviously created on a mysterious island with some sort of special powers that were bestowed upon them by a cool ass cat named Neb and some crazy scientist guy named Cpt Nemo. Their abilities have left the best and brightest scientists on the planet totally bewildered as they've failed repeatedly in their attempts to reproduce such talent in mere humans. Some of their closest friends and confidants have sworn on their original copy of "King of the Delta Blues Singers" that if you fly over the Pacific in a hot air balloon during a hurricane, you can still hear just a few bars of their late-night jams with Neb. And if you're really lucky, you can - on occasion - hear just a whisper of a Robert Johnson tune gliding gently across the winds that move above the ocean down there. Or at least that's what some guy told me when he was selling Lucy in Orange Beach back in 2015. I know he was trustworthy bc he said he was in an orgy with Janis Joplin in San Fran back in the day. He was also was wearing a 40 yr old authentic Mexican poncho and a flat- brimmed, black cowboy hat (The 'High Plains Drifter' kind).
Was there that night. DT is in a whole different league. Everyone was dancing around, singing, having a good ole time. I just sat there with my mouth open the whole time. Couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
They are amazing. Their ability to take you to the highest energy level possible, then slow it down to let you catch your breath, and send you higher still, all without missing a beat, cannot be matched. They are lovers of great American and world music, and can play virtually anything they want. Such a gift. I can't wait for the 2 nights of bliss at Red Rocks 2021. ❤️
Susan and Derek didn't let the pandemic stop their ambitious. Pulled their band together and created, Isolating with your band. Positive attitude! Positive results! Congrats! Concerts are fun! I danced the night away at every show, I see.
Awesome. How you can keep a large group like that running smoothly, plus guests, and play such a huge repertoire, wow. I usually don't bother commenting on the people who gave it thumbs down, but c'mon, we all need some fun in our lives. Give it another chance. It won't hurt you.
in any group, there is a non-zero chance that some people are either (a) willfully hateful because they have issues or (b) just plain ol nuts. Bet on some of both, and don't worry about it. This is the best band out there, from Alecia Chakour (such a huge crush on her and her voice) to amazing duo of Mike and Mark, to Kebbi, Ephraim and Liz and their huge sound, to Tyler and JJ on drums (gonna miss you JJ!), to Tim and then Brandon on bass...oh and right, one of the greatest voices in blues, Susan, and the greatest slide guitar player in history, Derek. Miss you Kofi, RIP. If you don't get this band, you are either (a), (b), or both.
@@bobf5360 Good thoughts. Some people like certain types of music one way and not others. I remember when ABB Live at the the Fillmore came out. A couple of the songs were played on the radio where I worked. A guy there said, this is supposed to be a blues band, right? Dave Van Ronk, that's blues. I said, sure, Dave Van Ronk's cool. One guy with an acoustic can do styles that don't make sense for a 6 piece blues-rock band. Would it make a lot of sense for the six of them to be on stage with the two guitarists doing nothing but fingerpicking, etc.? And they can do a lot of things that a solo player can't. But he refused to listen to them. I had a friend who thought the Stones should have spent their whole careers playing Chicago blues covers like they did on their first few albums, before they wrote many songs. I like to find what I like in a lot of different styles and formats.
Some day, kids are going to sit around and say "You saw Derek Trucks play live!!!!!!?????" with the same reverence as talking about Hendrix. Probably the greatest guitar player of this generation.
One of the best not thee best, that is a big statement, I like Warrens slide playing better, Derek is too busy with way to much vibrato, he only knows one way balls to the wall he needs to throttle it back at times and let the notes breath.
First of all I am a HUGE fan of TTB - best freakin live band on the planet in my opinion, but as an aside... The very first concert I went to at the age of 13 or 14, in 1972, was Sly and the Family Stone. I now realize how lucky I was. It was in Charleston, SC in a 3 or 4 thousand seat auditorium. Sly was at least an hour and a half late and I am sure was high as a kite when they finally arrived. But they put on one HELL of a show. Have always been a fan of the soul/funk genre since and I LOVE that TTB does it's share of carrying on the tradition. Peace
Damn!! I love this band so much, so talented. I can't help but add if it hasn't been said already, those drummers were KILLING IT!!!, Damn!!! Can they get any better? Wow. Hope to see them in person some day. (*and I'm a drummer and can't imagine anything better than playing with these people).
It's just down the street for me. Bunch of new hotels have or are coming on line along C470 just south of RR (by my house). So, when shows open back up, plenty of new places to stay. I see these guys almost every year they are here. They NEVER disappoint. And, yes, they are having fun. Seems like they always do. If you can't make TTB (tix are sold out this year for both shows, as tix from last year work for this year), I strongly suggest Brit Floyd. See them every year as well. Swear you're in the studio with Roger, David, Richard (RIP) and Nick.
@@daviddawson1718 The only other band was Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings worthy of consecutive shows. Never got to see Petty although i did see Bob Seger on his final tour..
Man this new bass player is nasty AF! There's something a P-Bass dialed in just right with a cat who can play the hell out of it...I can't wait to catch these guys live again.
I’ve had the uncanny ongoing coincidences that we happen to be out of town every time they play Red Rocks which is only an hour from our house. And again this year, OOFDAH

It doesn't get any better than this folks. Live music, played by real musicians.

Tedeschi Trucks is the the tightest, most soulful band on the planet!
Straight goosebumps.
TTB is the best band in America right now.
In da wurrrld
I kinda hate superlatives but also I don't know a better live band sooooo

Have any of you attended Elvis Presley live shows??
@@debbiewheat2573 He is still dead right? So "right now" eliminates people like Elvis or Prince who routinely put on great live shows
I dont think there is a better touring band out there. Anywhere.
Nope
was there even a doubt? Vulfpeck was great on tour, but they are done. Can't wait for TTB shows again this summer!!!!!
