Well I always wondered how you pleated for smocking, never heard of a pleating machine. Everyday is a learning day.
Wow that smocked Liberty fabric looks beautiful- great job! Stay well ❤
I vote for sleeveless! 😊
Love Liberty so much x
You have inspired me Amelia. We moved to NZ in January 1998 & stopped off enroute in Thailand and I bought a beautiful piece of Thai silk fabric, which is still in my stash. I actually looked at it a couple of days ago but I'm too scared to cut it and possibly spoil it! I cant wait to see your finished silk dress. X
Wow!! Beautiful plans!! Excited to see them all ❤
Can't wait to see how the skirt turns out. It's so much more special when the fabric has such a special meaning. I have my fingers crossed the lining comes in time!
Thank you. It is going to be a really special skirt to wear I think.
Lovely to hear all your interesting projects. I've been sewing for almost 60 years, and still do. I have about 7 sewing projects on the go.......makes sure I don't get bored. 😂
Thank you Genevieve, I am glad to hear it is not just me that has a lot of projects on the go at once!
How lovely for your dad to bring you back that silk fabric, the colour is gorgeous.
Thank you. I really love this colour - he chose perfectly!
Beautiful fabrics Amelia. You made me a wee bit teary with the inside of your skirt band. What a lovely thing to do. xx
Thank you Libby, that is so kind of you. I really wanted to do something to reflect the story of the fabric. I am so happy that I will have that embroidered on the inside.
Thank you Amelia. What absolutely fabulous plans. Really looking forward to seeing the outcomes. The red silk is absolutely stunning, what a fantastic gift.
Thank you Mary. I am so looking forward to getting the silk sewn up and into a wearable skirt.
Amelia, you never cease to inspire me with your lovely makes. Both those Liberty fabrics! What else could make a girl happy! Wish I could smock, it looks difficult.
Thank you Mary. Liberty is the way to my hear, for sure! 😊 Smocking is not tricky once you get started! I think the pleating is the trickiest part.
Thank you ❤
So glad to hear you are all feeling better now and that despite the illnesses you managed some hand sewing. Can't wait to see your Aspen and I agree with you on the ruffle pockets! Your smocked Liberty skirt will be beautiful, Happy Smocking ❤
Thank you so much Katherine! So lovely to see you and show you the fabric in person! 😊
@@sewameliasoooo lovely to see you and your amazing smocking on that stunning Liberty. Thank you for chats and the smocking tips 😘
Hi Amelia, Super video! Sorry to hear you have been unwell. Love the embroidery on the silk! I vote for short sleeves, plain pockets on FG dress as sounds like you would wear it more. You really did triumph in the Liberty Mothership - the pops of pink neon are divine! Hope the lining arrives soon. Have a great weekend! Fiona
Thank you so much Fiona. It was a real find at Liberty. I am so looking forward to sewing it up now! Hope you have a good weekend too.
What a lovely sentiment for the silk fabric.x
Thank you Jackie.
Great video Amelia. I adore the smocking it's so pretty. Great plans. Hope you have a healthier week. 🎉
Thank you Bridget. I am really enjoying my smocking at the moment.
So lovely to see you Amelia. Love all your smocking, never tried that myself, nor embroidery. Too finicky for me. Look forward to seeing your silk made up.
Thank you Jeni. Smocking is detailed, but I really enjoy doing it! Looking forward to finishing the silk skirt - hopefully I can get it done in time.
Think the ruffled patch pockets would look nice on small busted women but the rest of us...not so much. That is only my opinion😊
Amelia, what do you mean when you say you "put it on the pleater"?
I have a machine my mother gave me which has needles. As I run the fabric through the machine, it gathers it up for me into the pleats that I can then smock.
@sewamelia please show us this machine in an upcoming video. Thanks.
Definitely not the ruffled pockets on the Aspen. For me, it is just too fussy but also draws far too much attention to the chest area especially in a plain fabric. No, the patch pockets are just lovely, I would leave it at that!!!
Thank you Kate, I agree - I think the ruffles look too busy with the zip as well. I'm looking forward to giving it a go soon!
