Chipotle, no GMO’s, no pesticides and no human parts, McD got caught!
they bleach their "meat".
Jay, I don’t look to you for dietary advice. F#ck the haters.
🤣😂
Thank you for all your takes good job keep it up!
An excellent review Jay, love this new style, walking around the room, explaining sound images, sound stages, keep it up Jay, don't change it, and thanks for your informative review.
Jay, thanks for walking up to the speakers! It takes "action speaks louder than words" to a whole new level. Keep up the good work!
Jay, great review! The fun you had putting it together really comes through. I like the physical demonstration of the soundstage and imaging for the speakers, but yes it does need a lap mic. Cheers!!
Outstanding,
Enjoyed the info and especially the format of the Video.
I watch a lot of videos and I must say that this fresh way of bringing the concept to us viewers was “Spot On” as you say.
👍
Listening with a pair of Audeze close backs, I can definitely appreciate the Uni-Fi's overall balanced presentation, keep up the good stuffs Jay 👍
Good review! Thank you for the visualization of where the music is coming from. It makes the concept of how these produce soundstage and imaging so much more concrete!
Like so many other people have already commented, keep doing exactly what you're doing! I definitely liked the added visual aspect when you were describing how the speakers sound. Great review. Awesome channel. Keep doing what you're doing.
Loved this review.. This is a unique review and enjoy that you let your personality flourish here.
This is the first review I've seen of your in a while. Love the new format!
Jay - you are doing awesome. You keep it moving and fresh! Keep Trailblazing my friend!
I was an ELAC fan and own 4 pairs. But when Andrew Jones left the customer service went down the tubes. I remember Andrew answered the phone on Christmas eve to help me with a problem I had. Now it's totally different.
Jay my man, you are always on point with your reviews. I’ve listened to these and am TRULY impressed with them.
I’m curious though…
You were equally, if not more impressed with the SF Lumina 1’s.
Now that the Lumina 2’s have been released and all things being relatively equal, including pricing between the Elacs and the SFs (except for impedance), any hope for a comparison between the two in the near or not so near future?
I can see it now…
Elac Unifi Reference vs.
Sonus Faber Lumina II!
You saw it here first folks!!!
Thanks Jay and keep up the amazing work!
Love the sound stage explanation! This is a great format.
I reviewed the floorstanders against a pair of Monitor Audio Silver and the comparison did not take as long as I thought. I really wanted the MAs for their build and look - they are lovely. The Elacs look OK if you don’t get too close. But the sound is gorgeous. They were so much richer and inviting than anything else I’ve heard at this price (MA silvers, Kef and Klipsch). They have life too - my first thought was they may be a little polite. But if I played material with some kick, like “Burn one Down” by Ben Harper, they have percussion snap without losing the timbre of the acoustic guitar or his voice. Honestly, this was more speaker than either my wife and wanted aesthetically, but we have a large listening room - say, 25 by 25 with a very high ceiling and these do the job. They are not hard to drive to good levels - I’m using a little Bluesound N330 Powernode, and it’s fine. Put them on your list.
Agreed whole heartily, worth every penny. It just sound fantastic now with a little more bass now. Had the elac dbr62 and ubr52. Widest Orchestral music, it is now full and complete. Vocals are really the best on coaxial speakers. But need some luck with these elac coaxial speakers, just my luck I had lemon tweeters 2 times: Ubr62 new and ubr52 open box. Test with test tones 400 to 600hz, you'll get the noise distortions.
Excellent review! Loved you friend's reaction too. That was precious.
Lol Can't wait to have my str8 up review of the Elac ub52 ! Thanks Jay
I LOVE this video Jay! And now this pair of floor standers is on my list; at the top actually!
Hi Jay, Thanks for another great review. You do them with honesty and passion. Apppreciated! I also could hear you just fine when you moved away from the microphone.
I have a question and a wish. I would love it if you sometime would review the Monitor Audio Gold series. I use the Gold 200 with my Hegel h120, that I know you appreciate as well. I find it to be a great match. I have loved the clarity and transparency of Monitor Audio speakers for many years now. Take care and Thanks again! Greetings from Sweden.
Excellent use of space and blocking. Being able to get away from close ups both of you and the equipment helps things feel more relatable and inviting.
Yes the physical approach is very much welcomed..THANKS for the clarification.
Thanks for the vid JS-Very informative and I enjoyed it very much.
Awsem review mate and all the best on your future endeavours.

This is my favourite review of yours (that I've seen)!
Thanks for the thorough in-depth review.
Great review! I loved the Debut Reference and would love to check this one out too and see how it compares!
Your friends reaction was something else, I'm going to seriously consider upgrading my MA bronze bx 5's for the elac floorstanders. Nice one.👍
One thing's for sure, your taste in audio equipment is better than your taste in food.
I do not deny this 😂
i like that you got up to the speaker to show us the width of the sound :)
Jay, you do man and your approach is just fine!!
Great review bro keep up the good work 👍
I'm curious how something like these compare to the heritage line you've reviewed. I know they are dramatically different speakers but which would you pick as a daily listener?
Loved the review. You’re friends reaction says it all, Andrew Jones does it again!
I have the Elac DFR52 floor standers and was going to add the isoacoustic gaia iii. I love the DFR52 with my REL T5x subwoofer. Nice to see a video of the Elac Uni-Fi.
What amp do you use with your Elac DFR52s?
All around an informative and FUN review…your "virgin" speaker friend added to the entertainment. Definitely.
Great approach, Jay! I'm not sure if I've ever seen a demo of soundstage and imaging quite like this. Don't forget about soundstage depth. Lol (I known it's a first run). I'd like to see you develop this style. For example, how speaker placement might change the spacial and acoustic presentation. Well done!
Better format for sure. These are a bookshelf I really want once I get my new powerful amp haha
Cool review! Thanks! :)
Jay, please always stay as cheesy as you are. Love your videos! Don't change a thing.
wait till you see my cheesy pushups ! 😜
I enjoy your presentation Makes my day .Kudos..
How do they sound vs the Elac Navis??
I'm super curious because the pricing is close, if buying an amplifier with these speakers.
Thanks.
Ha ha, really nice review, man! I loved how you got between the speakers and talked about where you were hearing sounds, that is gold! I've always wanted reviewers to do that more, literally show people how the speakers are presenting the music, how big the stage is and how good the imaging is. I totally recommend you keep doing that. I've been waiting for this review trying to figure out if I should upgrade to these from my Uni-Fi UB52's (modified) which I love. You are making great videos, Jay, keep it up! Oh, and unfortunately Elac was forced to increase their prices recently (last week?) by 15-20% and these bookshelves are now $1,200 USD.
What mod did you do to your ub52? I've had mine for about a month maybe and not sure they're even broken in yet. . If that's indeed truth about these. Just wondering if there was a gr research upgrade or something else you did to em. From what I've heard, they have a fairly beefy crossover network inside of them, due to the 3 way design. Interested on what you improved
@@erics.4113 Hey Eric. First off, regarding break in, they definitely need a lot of time. I've owned two pairs and each time I noticed it honestly takes a couple hundred hours or more for them to settle into their true character. There are a lot of components in the crossover in particular that need to break in. They become more lively, airy and detailed in time. I did perform sort of a Danny Ritchie/GR Research sort of upgrade just short of crossover upgrades. I performed cabinet damping that Danny used to recommend before he developed his No Rez product. While the stock cabinet is pretty darn solid for the price I lined the walls with 1/8" industrial floor tiles using contact cement and then applied 1" foam to all the walls. I damped the steel driver baskets with Bitumin material to reduce driver resonance. Lastly, I replaced the speaker binding posts with high-quality rhodium plated, pure copper posts by Viborg. The speaker weighs about two more pounds than stock and is rock solid now. The binding posts made the biggest difference, it was like I found a key and unlocked the UB52's. The stock binding posts are horrible and really make a negative impact on the sound. They just opened up big time, more details, more vibrant yet cleaner treble, more detailed highs, noticeably bigger soundstage. Sure, it basically voids the warranty but at $600 a pair ($480 often on Amazon) the way I see it I don't find it a big deal at these prices. I would love to do mods to the crossover but the problem is it's nearly impossible to get to it! You can't get to it through the woofer hole due to both the brace and the separate coaxial driver enclosure. I honestly think they did not intend to ever repair the crossover if something went wrong, which the chances of that are low anyhow, and they simply plan to warrant replace the entire speaker. I believe these speakers were constructed with the crossover board mounted to the rear of the enclosure while being assembled. Hope that helps, they are GREAT speakers and you can make them even better if you are willing!
@@sean_heisler cool stuff it's interesting you mentioned damping because they are pretty solid especially compared to my hollow door rp600m. The problem with break-in is that I bought rp600m and these at about the same time so getting a lot of listening time between two sets is tough. I had the ELAC on the stands for a solid week and was starting to feel like they were improving in bass and losing some of their dry plastic feel (is what I call it) compared to the klipsch which are just out of control dynamically coloring the music.. sometimes for the good. Other times just... well.. out of control.
Overall I could live with the ELAC every day and party with the klipsch on occassiion with the correct source material and a subwoofer. Always with a sub.
I'm just wondering what my next speaker will be. And I feel like going up the ELAC tree is worthy to pursue.
But I'm still new to this and maybe will pause on speakers and up my gear first and get all i can out of these two very different speakers.
I will look into the binding post upgrades. I imagine the rp600m could use help there too considering they are bi-wirable and have a cheap plate connecting the two sets of posts. I suppose I could ditch the plates and just make my own jumper out of a short segment of some quality speaker cable and do better than stock in that regard.
I'm not worried about warranties. I doubt I'll keep any of this stuff long enough to ever pursue repairs. By the time the speakers gods want to take one or I blow one up somehow I'll be happily perusing the hifi shop for the next one 😉
I guess that's part of the fun of this pursuit anyhow
I also like the fact that he stood between the speakers. It gave me a better sense of scale and a better idea of the speaker placement how far apart they were from each other. It really helps because his listening environment approximately the same size as mine.
@@erics.4113 your brain can take some time to calibrate to a new sound - woofers take minutes to break in.
Thanks again Jay, very good reviews again. May I ask when compare this Elac bookshelf speaker with Tekton Lore Reference speaker, which one you prefer? Thanks a lot!
I think that you do a phenomenal job of explaining what you are talking about, those sound great with headphones... I have to get a set of those. Are they ALOT better than the debut?
no 🧢🧢🧢🧢 bro killed me right there! Bought these towers, arriving today. Paired with Technics 1200 ( reworked, new leds, silicone dampening tray, Funk Firm mat, Magensium headshell, Denon 103R), Denon 300LC SUT, Schiit Freya, Project Tube Box DS, IotaVX PA3. Stoked! Thanks Jay, your reviews are amazing!
The tall model reminds me a great deal of the Snell Type IV. I owned a pair. Loved them. Wish I'd kept them! So similar and makes me curious.
Wonderful looking speakers. Hope to hear them someday.
Jay, I love these speakers stands and are very tempted to get them. Did you experiment whether these also benefit from IsoAcoustic footers?
Knocked out of the Park with this review. Thank you.
Kind of been away from watching reviews for a while so it was really fun to see your new vibe and your new room? Its really great to see you having fun, the McDonalds comparison had me in stitches! Just wanted to ask about the big diffuser in the middle of the wall.Knowing you I'm sure its functional and not decorative - can you share any info about it?
I enjoyed your review and prefer how you moved around and showed the speakers and equipment. I would prefer learning more about the build quality and technology in the equipment rather than how it sounds.
AT LAST !!!! A reviewer (and a GOOD one at that - kudos, Jay ! : ) who says EMPHATICALLY and LOUDLY that you simply CANNOT get a good sense of what ANY speaker sounds like from ANY RUclips, ESPECIALLY through whatever speakers we are using at home to listen to ANYTHING online !! thank YOU JAY !!! BTW - yet ANOTHER excellent review!
@@carlosoliveira-rc2xt Can't agree entirely Carlos : ) Absolutely; crap gear will make things worse but even with excellent play back gear, we cannot escape the "character" (tonal balance etc.) of the speakers that we are listening to at home. You are definitely right about the variances of RUclips audio quality which is easy to discern if you've got good gear but for instance, the Dynaudio speaks that I've got on my desktop sound different (and better : ) than my friend's KEF LS50's (that I borrowed for comparison) on the SAME RUclips material - whether good or bad. And I'm with you re. the sound on THIS audio sample which is poor for whatever reason . . . happy listening!
@@carlosoliveira-rc2xt thank you and . . . Cheers! to you TOO Carlos : )
Jay, I loved the review. I too am a fan of the Filet-o-fish sandwich. I had a question regarding the stands. What height stands are those?
Impressive looking speakers! Very very hard to beat at this price point on just looks alone.
I have a pair of reference floor standers next to a pair of Emotiva T1+. ($699 pr)
I think the Emotiva's are a bit more open and transparent. The mids are definitely better than the Elacs. While the Elacs are sweet in the high range, I prefer the ribbon tweeter of the Emotiva's.
In the bass section in any small tower will require a sub or two, but when compared, the Emotiva easily extends further than the Elacs
with a fuller rounder bass section.
Great video. How do these compare to the Velas? Thanks!
i have Paradigm S.7 Atom Monitors from 6-8 years ago on one of my systems. Are the Bookshelf Elacs an upgrade?
I love it when headphone guys actually experience sound stage 🤣
How do these compare to klipsch Rp-8000f?
Great review Jay! Could you do a review/comparison on the Emotiva T2+? I hear great things about them.
Are the stand mounts better than the Klipsch RP-600M speakers ?
Nice video! would I be better off with the bookshelves and a sub? it sounds like the towers dont have a whole lot more bass. I have the SB 1000 pro already. I have the Elac debut DBR62, Triangle Bro3 and bro2 (all great speakers) but wanted to upgrade to the Elacs tower version UFR52.. Kinda feel like it wouldn't be worth it. I know some say the imaging and sound stage is better on bookshelf speakers too. Hmmm.. Any thoughts?
Liked the video and the bit with your buddy. We forget that younger people are from an area of Bluetooth speakers. True stereo systems are relatively rare these days and id bet many may have never even hear stero imaging before.
Now as far as comparisons go. When you going to compare dual KEF KC62s to those Dual Rel t7Xs? Who has stereo pairs of boths of those subs?! thats crazy and I am jealous lol. I have 1 t7x and am chomping at the bit to get the pair with my Metas
Nice review 👍
Excellent video . Thanks
Which model of Iso Acoustic feet are they? I'm just trying to work out which ones I need for my Tannoy XT6Fs. Thanks. :)
Hey Jay. What rels do you ha e there, t9x or t7x, or other. Im decidi g between those two (7 or 9). Cheers
Fun video. A Well-Tempered turntable. Nice. Have you done a video on this?
Jay
Describing the soundstage next to the speaker is 👍👍👍.
You sure did poison your friend.
😁
Is that a KEF KF92 in the corner behind the floorstander?
Thanks for the review, how the bass on these compare to model 5 ? I'm between these towers and model 5 for 2 channel music, can I please have your thoughts?
Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi Jay, wich speakers do you prefer the Elac uni-fi reference or the dynaudio evoke 10?
How would you compare these to the MartinLogin 60xti and 50XTi. Especially the center - do voices have the needed weight with the ELAC?
I currently have an Allo Volt + D Double 60x2 Amp, will this be enough for this speaker?
to upgrade my ref system w pioneer bs22 for my 3.2m x 4.5m room, im comparing the elac ubr62 (a jones) w pmc db1 gold. where does your daebak go? and the actual amp is onkyo a9000r but ill buy a class d power to replace it and to mate it w freya + i already got.
First off thanks for your review. Can you comment on how the unifi reference sound compared to the unifi b5s? I have the unifi b5 slim and am considering upgrading
Bookshelf Uni-Fi plus SVS 3000 Micro and you have a giant killer system.
Fabtastic review, and yeah... I do love the "walk to the stage and show us" approach. 1,000 words could not have done as well as this "show me like I'm a 5 year old approach". Thanks for this review... and while I have you, have you ever reviewed any Emotiva gear? I am particularly interested in seeing you compare these to the less expensive T1+ or even T2+ towers from Emotiva. I've narrowed my replacement decision for my Polk RTI-A9 down to Emotiva T2+ but would really like your take.
Hey Jay. Enjoying your reviews more and more! It may have already been asked but what is the music at the beginning of this video?
Lovede it - so you used the Iotavx stack, but what streamer/dac was you using?
Great reaction! 😂
Any comparison between these and the Carina which you reviewed previously? I had a pair briefly and didn’t care for them.
Pretty sure the Elac B6.2 are more McDonalds and uni-fi reference is like red robins burger and those Sonus Faber speakers are like going to a high end restaurant where your burger costs like $50 and something like wilson audio would be like having a personal chef cook you a burger.
Hey Jay! I was wondering if you would recommend this elac uni-fi reference over Triangle borea towers like BR09 . I’m torn between the two, need advice. Btw I’ll be running it with Rotel RC-1572mkii preamp and RB-1552. Thank you.
Great review. I wish you can compare this speaker to tekton 2-10 perfect set. Both are in similar price category. Would love if you could make a sound demo comparison..
👍👍👍
I have the original and have been pretty happy with the overall sound through all genres of music.the one negative point is it's low sensitivity rating resulting in careful matching with amps. Therefore it doesn't perform great at low volumes; you need to crank it up to really appreciate what this speaker can offer. So how does the new reference unifi perform in this regard?
Impedance is more importent for me, 6 ohms is a good load for tube amps. Just look at what sound level you listen, for me its 95 db. So i need 8 watts of power with my 300b set amp. Than i have 2 watts of headroom.
Hi, are the basses enough to hear the boom in "moon light on sping river" at 0:55? 😉
How does it compare to the NHT C4? I make a protein shake when on the run.
What are the treatments in the upper corners of your listening room? The Audiophiliac has similar ones as well but I've never been able to find them anywhere.
All linked in the description!
Wut Rel Subs do you own cause I see the two in the back! And did you do a review on them?
Focal Chora 806 or Elac UBR62? What aspect will drive you to choose one versus the other?
Top 3 best amp for unifi reference bookshelf?!
Jay, what are those Japanese style panels called and where did you get them? Love the look.
Update: they are "Shoji" panels, used as room dividers. The ones Jay has have "plum blossom" art.
Greta Review!! Thanks
HEY JAY'S IYAGI! :) @Jay's iyagi
I have two questions. Please help me with my buying decision. Just to say firstly, I am an audiophile newcomer when it comes to HiFi separates.
I was considering an all in one powered active speaker upgrade, something to replace my little Yamaha NX-N500 all in one network speakers. My bedroom is 13 feet by 13 feet.
I have been considering the AudioPro A36, then the Dali Oberon 6C, both floorstanders and active powered wireless speakers.
I also considered the Elac Wireless speakers and then the Buchardt A500 wireless aswell as the KEF LS50 Wireless 2. I can't decide which would be best sounding for the price.
Then I also thought about just buying a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G because I know they will sound amazing, my brother owned some older models a long time ago I remember listening to them.
Then I found the review on these and these Elac Uni-Fy Reference are cheaper than the Monitor Audio. So it could be quite possible to get really great sound HiFi separates for a really decent price over an active all in one powered speaker system.
So now I am unsure what kind of decent integrated amp + pre amp + streamer I would need and it would need to include a streamer. I listen to Qobuz streaming services.
I am told the Monitor Audio are very friendly and easy to run just like these Elac's. So my second question is could I stand these 4 - 5 feet apart in my 13 feet bedroom.
I obviously would not be playing these very loud as my Yamaha NX-N500 monitor speakers don't go over 90db I don't think.
My bedroom has my bed from window to the door inside wall. Door opens inwards. I have a set of draws set back in the recessed part of the wall at the front left of my 13 feet bedroom.
The recessed part being the fire flu that runs up the middle of my house to the chimney stacks. My draws stick out slightly from the recessed part of the wall.
I have a wall mounted shelf on the front wall higher up but in-between the set of draws and the bedroom door that open inwards to my bedroom.
My TV is wall mounted above that. I had s set of KEF X300A that have recently died on me. They were wired up to the TV.
However my Yamaha's have a optical link to my TV so at least I am not completely without my HiFi sound.
So I am wondering whether to go the wireless speakers route, or whether to go separates. I would still be saving up for them for a while. So it's not an imminent decision I am needing.
If so. I need help and some advice pairing a good cheap integrated amp with pre amp and with streamer that would pair well with either the Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G or these here Elac floorstanders ?
I won't be needing a cd player or a vinyl record player. Really sorry for such a long post. So just an amp and streamer all in one.
But if you could help me find a good deal even an older model amp that may work well with any of these relatively recent speakers that are easy to drive.
Something under £3000 most likely would be my budget. Leaving me only needing to find money for cables, HiFi rack and a AC powerline conditioner.
Require a good Integrated amp with streamer to power below speakers but not to stupid high levels. Around 90db at max but usually lower.
Elac Uni-Fi Reference (don't know wattage into ohms)
Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G (250watts speakers go upto? but are supposedly friendly with lower wattage amps?)
Would you recommend the Unifi Reference bookshelves with the Burson Funk?
Great review as always Jay. But do you prefer these over Tekton Lores?
Hi jay, great review, I now have Ubr62, great balance speaker , quite neural response, not as bright as my B&w 606s2 Anniversary, I got mine open box for £499 . My amp Rotel A11 tribune set up , I also have a sub for lower end of bass range if required. Regards mark
Great review seriously. I use tube stereo amps. No special sauce needed for my big mac, er, speakers I mean. If you use tubes, you may want a well behaved, neutral, reference kind of speaker. The tubes add realistic, clean, scary dynamics to all speakers. Soooo, if your favorite speaker is polk or klipsch, you may not like a tube amp. Pairing amp to speaker is a real thing. Elac reference speakers are awesome with tube or tube hybrid amps. How do I know this... Comments anyone? My reference sound is a live orchestra in a concert hall. No electronics, just mind blowing real sound. Elac comes close. Thanks again for this great review.
Love your reviews! Would love to hear the speakers with less vocals and more metal. Heavy metal sounds included would be great.
