Great tips man. For the torch though, there are much better options such as a heat gun from like a hot air rework soldering station. They make great inexpensive ones for around $40 that have temp and fan control that range from like 200-500 degrees Celsius.
Do you have any tips for burn marks when using the iron/woodburning tool? When i sculpt and a bit of filament is left on the tool, it rubs back off onto what im sculpting and leaves a black discoloration sometimes from melting.
I was having the same trouble. Couple of things that I tried: - Wiping the tip off frequently on a wet sponge, like you would with a soldering iron. This helped a little, but did not get rid of the problem. - What really helped was using a different material tip. The tips with the wood burning tool are brass and I tried using some stainless steel tips. This helped a lot and pretty much got rid of the discoloration problem for me. You can see this in my Aladdin Genie video. The body was smoothed with the brass tips and has some discoloration, while the head was done with the stainless steel tips and looks a lot better.
I have a video on smoothing 3D pen creations - it talks more about using a wood burning tool and has link in the video description to the one that I use.
Some things to try: - Release the extrude button about half way to the endpoint. The filament will stretch a little but this makes it so it does not droop. - Try moving your hand quicker to the endpoint - For point to point, the smaller the distance the better. If you need to do a long distance, try using a pencil or other solid object to support the line you are making at the half way point. Mix an match the above and practice helps a lot.
when i use my wood burning tool to smooth my prints, my print is getting brown. In your tutorial for smoothing you say that i need to use stainless steel tips. But i cant find them in a store. Do you know where i can buy them?
For the specific wood burning tool that I have, I made the stainless steel tips myself. I made them from stainless steel screws and used a grinding wheel.
Can you do a vid on your personal recommendation on the equipment that is best for someone just starting to use a 3d pen or who is interested in starting Thank you
Good question. No, it does not. It sticks better to the following things: - The same type of plastic (PLA sticks well to PLA or ABS to ABS) - Textured surfaces (blue painters tape) - Surfaces it can melt (wax paper)
What other 3D Pen tutorials would you like to see?
What pen are you using? The link no longer works... or whats a decent 3D pen I might look into?

That wood burning tool looks like Karan Jarrus’s lightsaber
I totally recommend this vid
You can use a heat gun in place of a torch, much safer, and doesn't leave burn Mark's as easily

what speeds and temp are u using?
Love the video thanks but I’ve got to know are the eyes made with the 3D pen
They are not. I think there are more details on those in the Groot video.
Whenever I do point to point filling, my lines always drop, can u help?

If you can, turn down the temperature of turn it upside down

I have a Myriwell and a spool of 1.75mm filament that work pretty well
I like how the views on these 3 videos halves from Basics to Beginner to Advanced. Nobody wants to put in energy to learn a new skill anymore.
When I first saw the branch he made I thought it was finger bones or something
Does the filament adhere to any surface?
