We can't believe that it's almost been 10 years since 7312 was taken out of service. At least 89 wears her whistle, we hope she will return to steam soon!
when i was at the Strasburg RR last, i was told that 7312 should be up and running this December(Dec. 2012) BUT she may not be hauling excursion trains till 2013, they are probably going to finish the work in 2012, do a couple test runs,, and return her to revenue service in the very end of december, or early 2013 operating season
tachikoma747 Alot of people thought this was a Crosby or a Buckeye 3 chime. I know it couldn't be any of them because Crosby and Buckeye sound so much distinctly different from each other especially this whistle. I think this whistle might be an Altoona or likely an Ashton Valve 3 chime
tachikoma747 I think that might be an Ashton Valve 3 chime based on that whistle design at 3:26. Almost sounds like the one they put on Mount Rainier Scenic #5 while in excursion service
one of her last runs before going out of service and I sure wasn't surprise to hear 7312 would retire a decade after going out of service since Strasburg didn't like 7312 even though it was the first locomotive to operate on the line when it became a tourist line in 1960 surprised that 6 decades have gone by since it became a tourist line. Time sure can by go quick when you least expect it.
@@Chase_TRAINZ I mean, considering it’s in pieces right now. And their current focus is 90, probably as soon after 90 is done with its rebuild. Then they will hopefully get to work on 7312 and get it done. That’s what we’re all praying for.

Really hope 31/7312 gets restored soon...
Hope that 5er from the CN returns soon
Nicely done, well framed and all! I almost stepped into your shot at one point without realizing it, yikes! Great work!

Dynamo Productions well, unfortunately that was FAR from true.
Very far from true
@@Mizzinno very, VERY far from true
nice footage adam, you know i actually do like the wide screen much better. keep up the good work
I first watched this video like in 2014-15 lots of nostalgia awesome job
One of 7312’s last runs. Heck of a life, beautiful send off
great catches and video of this railroad with nice whistle action with 7312
For such a small locomotive, 31 has a pretty whistle.

tachikoma747 PRR, LIRR, Boston and Maine, Boston and Albany and New Haven used Ashton Valve on their mainline and branchline steamers.
Erich Diebold I'd love to know when 31 will be back up and running. Seems like she's been out of commission for years.
tachikoma747 Still in the shop
As always. Good stuff there.
Nicely done!
Cool, I went there today(6/16) It was a Day out with Thomas, and it was full of screaming kids. But I rode first class on #90....so awesome.
So that's what they rebuilding her for to haul more freight than #90. I hope to look at videos of that.

Any update on 7312?
When is it coming out of the shop
Uhh I think 🤔 2026 probably
@@Chase_TRAINZ no maybe later this year or so we still don’t know what they should do
does anyone know how to get on blackhorse rd?
at about 8:46, sounds like she's speeding along
I wonder when 7312 will return to service again
2026
@@Chase_TRAINZ at this point I doubt she'll return since 7312 was a disliked engine by crews
