- On July 5th, 2013, Big Jim Video Productions visited the Strasburg Rail Road once again (similar to a visit on July 4th last year). While there was no mixed freight train in the morning (no cars scheduled to be delivered by Norfolk Southern), both 2-10-0 #90 and 2-6-0 #89 were pulling the day's scheduled passenger trains - and the weather was beautiful. I got a few angles that I haven't gotten in a while, as well as some different takes on traditional angles as well. There was even a meet at Leaman Place between #89 and the eastbound Amtrak Pennsylvanian. Enjoy - and visit www.bigjimvideo.com for more!
Very rare and an amazing sight to see three active steam locomotives running in one day.
The part of the train going through the corn field is beautiful!
Thank you! Reminds me that I need to get back out there and get some more unique angles...
I'm glad they kept that white smokebox front. It really brings out the old "Great Western" look for old Number 90.
I like 90s whistle at a low tone cause it sounds really pretty.

Amen, Jim. Amen.
Nice to see #89 again.
one of them has the reallllly nice whistle or used to i dont remember havenet been there in awhile. yeah its 90. i rode that train 2 years back.
Nice cameo by 475 at 8:29 - and love the non-hooter whistle. Hope it stays ...
The whistle on old #89 is the Pennsylvania Railroad Single Chime Banshee Whistle.
This is some of the best shots I’ve seen of the railroad! Great camera work!
Thank you very much!
It's always nice to see 89 out and about.
Excellent video, Jim
Great video, you are my son's favorite channel... we watch you everyday!
Thanks a lot!!
Thank you very much! I hope you both continue to watch!
i want to see 89
Thanks!
Good to see 475 and 8618 out. I don't see them much.
+Nicholas Jurczak Had you been out there this past year? 475 and 89 were the only two operating steamers there in 2016 - so if you went during a busy period, you were practically guaranteed to see 475 at least. :)
great shots
Yeah, to be out of the shops and move around after a long sitting session in the shops.
Indeed, very rare! Thanks!
It's a beautifully haunting whistle...
Thank you, sir!
Indeed! It's a good look. I wish they kept the white-walled tires. But hey, I still like the silver.
I Like it When Engine 90 is Running at Strasburg
+Roy Virts,Jr. I do too!
Great video!
Thank you very much!
It's always been my favorite!
Yup!
Great Video, I love the 90, miss the whitewall tires with that smokebox. The whistle on the 89 I believe is a PRR 3 Chime, I like the CN 5 chime more.
Thank you!
It's actually probably a PRR banshee whistle.
Definitely a PRR Banshee judging from the shape and sound, I don't know what I was thinking when I said PRR 3 chime, I know 89 has worn a Banshee before.
Nice vid👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!!
nice video big Jim and great catch of the steam train in Strasbourg.
Thanks!
Your welcome.

A very nice video. I've been to Strasburg numerous times, and always enjoy riding the train. I am curious, though, as to whether you drew inspiration for this video's title from a certain Phil Collins song...
DID I HEAR THE THREE CHIME ON 475 :D I've been waiting for that whistle to come out of the woodwork. I wanna catch 475 wearing it soo much!
Actually 475 is wearing a 3 chime this year..
Definitely cool!!
I tried to go to Paradise once, but Mr. Peabody's coal train had hauled it away...so I went to Central City instead :P
Reylee Nulud Got the postcard, lol.
Me too!
Yes, there are some days where they run #475, some days where they run #90, some #89, some when they run two - it all depends on maintenance schedules, and how busy they are. If it's during an "off-peak" time, they may just run #89 and 5 or 6 cars - it all depends on the time of the year, really.
It's a good look!!
What was that whistle 89 had? Its so weird!!
It was a PRR Banshee whistle.
Sounds like it...and yeah, she was moving...
Yup.
She is wearing the PRR banshee whistle.
Just finished her 90+ day inspection, from what I heard, and just did a quick test run up and back in the yard.
7:52 It's not everyday where a steam engine passes by a blazing Amtrak......kinda like an old-meets-modern thing! Pretty neat actually!
I enjoy seeing it each time it happens too - because it's one of those extremely rare moments!

Was Norfolk And Western 475 Wearing The PRR 3 Chime Whistle
What happened with the whistle for #89 the old one was so much more awesome. But, my favorite engine #90 just got 2 times more awesome!
+Mike Manning I agree
Great video! Do you know what whistle #89 was wearing?
We'll see, won't we?
Soon then!!
Nice Video, Jim! Do you know why #475 was out though?
I've been there twice in a row and #475 has been doing the trains. My first time included #90. Not that there's anything wrong with #475, but I'd like to see #90 again.
When I went to Strasburg, they used #475. Does Strasburg alternate engines?
Might want to read your description over again especially in the beginning
Most def! Btw, What is the whistle on #89? It sounds too English! haha
What whistle is 89 wearing?
a PRR banshee whistle
I thought Lerro was gonna change the paint back to the normal scheme? No?
Either way, COOL!
i havent seen 90 in a while last time i saw her i was 4, im now 10. 475 has been runnig alot,is he the most popular or something. 90&475 are actully friends of mine too.
is 89 wearing a PRR Banshee?
cool
Do you "Like" Strasburg's Facebook page? If so, they'll sometimes post there which engine is running (or you can ask, they're really good about generally letting you know).
What's wrong with the description?
Actually, I was going more for Phil Vassar (country artist/writer) when I thought of that. :)
Who isn't? ;)
And if you read the whole sentence, you'll see how I bring it to 2013 ;)
I am a foamer
Thanks a lot!
Thanks!
