      Also, if this was in the 90’s, odds are they got the info from a printed campus directory of some sort, meaning the names and addresses of thousands of students probably had to be entered by hand each year.

    "Cheating" is defined by the casinos as "winning." No joke. A casino will allow you to lose as much as you want, as quickly as you want, but if you start winning too much or too quickly, you are banned for "cheating." What happens in Las Vegas isn't actually gambling, since gambling implies there is luck involved. There is no luck in Las Vegas casinos. They literally ban good luck. You are only allowed to lose.

The _instant_ a video goes up, he goes over and posts a generic, meaningless comment without bothering watch the video, usually based on nothing except the video's title. Then he uses a bot to give himself a handful of votes to make sure the algorithm moves his comment to the top. After that he just waits for the idiot teenyboppers and mouth-breathing subnormals to throw thumbs at him and push actual, legitimate comments down into oblivion. He is everything which is wrong with social media in general and RUclips in particular.

      I was banned from the SciShow channels for complaining about Master Therion. Big channels which rely on money from large numbers of idiot subscribers love people like Master Therion and Justin Y. and New Message because they attract lots of very stupid people and encourage participation from them. It turns the comments into the most cancerous sort of imbecilic chit-chat imaginable, but it aids the all-important "audience engagement" metric in RUclips's algorithm.
      This means channels who hold their users in complete contempt as worthless morons, like SciShow, actively encourage parasites like Master Therion by banning anyone who makes too big a fuss about them.

      +Unknown Enemy Malignant narcissism.
      And it's surprisingly easy to game the system. You'll never find a Justin Y. comment with no votes because the first thing he does is use his bots to give himself a handful of thumbs. Once that happens, because he's one of the very first (if not the absolute first) commenters, the algorithm decides his comment is high-quality because of its popularity and moves it to the top, showing it first to every person who reads the comments, which means he starts collecting even more up-thumbs. He only needs a few thumbs at the very beginning to get the ball rolling.

    I feel like these days, so what if Vegas casinos blackball you... there's Reno casinos, there's Atlantic City casinos, there's tons of tribal casinos, there's Canadian casinos... it can't be hard to find a place that hasn't blackballed you if you aren't limited to one greater city area.

    A 1994 issue of "Before & After" magazine traces "Lorem ipsum ..." to a jumbled Latin version of a passage from de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, a treatise on the theory of ethics written by Cicero in 45 B.C. The passage "Lorem ipsum ..." is taken from text that reads, "Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit ...," which translates as, "There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain..."

    Wait THAT'S what card counting is. That's just using strategy! I've played a few home games of poker and blackjack, and although I wasn't that good at it, I tried my best to remember what cards have already been played and what were currently out. I thought that was how good card players won!

Sounds like a breach of competition law. And banning people for being good at the game?? Ehm... discrimination maybe... But o well, it's the US I guess...

  • @ZerglingPack
    @ZerglingPack 5 лет назад +1

    As a casino surveillance agent, I will say right now that no casino I have worked at bans players for card counting. Your face and name(if we have it) are entered into multiple databases and your photo is sent out to notify other casinos that you are active in Las Vegas. Card counting is NOT illegal and we know that, but also know that we have the right to refuse service. Casinos are a business after all so they are there to make money for THEMSELVES. Card bending, marking, peeking, ext. are a whole other story.
    Casinos don't have to cheat to win your money. All the games are already set to make the house win. But I won't defend slot machines they 100% need better regulations.

    What would stop by casino from simply accusing a winner of cheating simply to cheat them out of their winnings? Is there any recourse that a gambler can take when they are accused in properly? That would seem to be a combination of theft and libel.
    Even if the casino genuinely believes the individual to be cheating, that doesn't necessarily mean they are. They could just be lucky. Shouldn't they have to have proof that an individual cheated?
    I've never gambled in a casino myself, and the idea of a casino being able to put you in a database simply because they think that you cheated is disturbing enough to keep me away from casinos.
    Beyond that, if a credit bureau can put the information in the wrong profile, and if an airline can ban a baby from flying because of an adult terrorists with the same name, it seems to me that there must be an error somewhere in these databases. Shouldn't individuals have the right to know what is being said about them that affects their lives? Shouldn't individuals have the right to challenge such things in court?
