Carrie confronts Miranda - Best Scene from And Just Like That S1 E5

- The single best scene from S1 of the SATC spinoff series And Just Like That. Carrie and Miranda always had some of the best two person scenes across the entire series. Emmy, Tony, and Grammy winner, Cynthia Nixon, shows why she is the strongest actress from the show able to deftly handle comedy and drama within the same scene and ground even the most far-fetched writing. Also, check out Nixon in S3 of The Big C. No copyright infringement intended. S2 will be available on HBO and related streaming platforms.
How dare they turn Miranda's character into a pile of shit and add more shit to her with Che
Someone call Jeff Goldblum, "that is one big pile..."
I miss the old Miranda…
This is not Miranda, this is Cynthia Nixon story😒
I thought the acting and writing for this scene was well done.
@@got2bjosh It was, if it was a new character not Miranda.
True, I miss Miranda Hobbes... and That's NOT her at all...
It's not even Cynthia's.
@@got2bjosh It's incredibly powerful.
Carrie shouldn’t judge she’s no saint
Oh please.
When she was having an affair with BIG, this same friend did not judge her, did not confront her, did not shame her. How dare she. Has she forgotten already?!
I mean, Carrie wasn’t having sex with Big while Miranda was in the room next to her
Carrie is a brat hire a nurse lol
I know right?
I hate Miranda in Just like that! She gave Steve hell for cheating on her and she does the same to him!
Oop!
"I'm unhappy????" pull it together...YOU'RE CLOSE TO 60. FIGURE IT OUT FOR GOSH SAKES. MY SYMPATHY GOES TO STEVE.
dont be harsh. people have all sorts of trouble all their lives. do you think 60 is the end of trouble
you never stop figuring yourself out
Steve also cheated on Miranda because she was working so she could afford the home he lived in.
I don't agree with what Amanda and Che did here. Carrie was recovering and needed Amanda's help. Amanda agreeing to do this should have made that her first priority, not Che. It seems like Miranda is having her own midlife crisis here. I really didn't like the story line with her and Che. I was glad she wasn't coming back for another season.
@@cattyelse2372 yes but all of this "I need more." Then take a class, travel, make yourself happy without hurting others in the process.
Miranda’s acting is appalling here. I cannot understand why they turned two strong women of substance and strong values I.e Mirand and Charlotte into infantilised characters who speak to adults like they are addressing young children.
Nixon's acting is great here. They both really delivered.
no.@@got2bjosh
Her acting here was fantastic. I think Kristin Davis is still trying to play the younger Charlotte, perhaps she hasn’t done as much acting since SATC (but I don’t know that for sure). I will never love this show as much as the first but then again I’ve never loved sequels or spin offs as much as the first. I do still watch and give them total respect though because I’m a true and loyal fan. Forever! ❤
This isn't Miranda it's Cynthia. Good writing and acting, but this character isn't Miranda Hobbs.
Carrie is a millionaire and instead of going to a convalescence home or hire a nurse, she expects her friend s to put their lives on hold to help her pee and watch her sleep. What's wrong with her???
And she NEVER did the same for any of her ftiends.
Hard to sympathize with her.
Samantha is sorely missed 😢 never more so than what this scene represents
Carrie is not one to judge when she asked for her friends' support during her affair with Big when he was married ?? 🤣🤣
I totally agree
You're right. But, are we going to forget how Miranda HERSELF felt about cheating? That was a character assassination.
True, but like 20% of Carrie's argument was about Miranda cheating on Steve. The rest was so out of character for Miranda. To be so neglectful of her duties (that she volunteered for), having sex with with someone who isn't a man (that's also Carrie's boss) while she was married to a man, getting drunk in the afternoon and smoking pot, and generally acting a fool. Miranda lost her mind, and Carrie rightfully called her out on it.
Get Carrie a bed pan
Oh my God lol
I hate this storyline so much. But the way these women speak truths is very indicative of the OG. Friends have these hard conversations. Friends care like this. And I guess in the end that’s the entire soul of the show and I can appreciate that.
@@TropicalMariahLover Exactly, being able to have difficult, honest conversations with those closest to you is important.
Shes going thru an identity crisis. When youve always been the one to have your shit together sometimes you get tired. The pandemic DEFINITELY didnt help. A lot of ppl went thru it during that time, Miranda was no different. In real life, ppl change. Sometimes for the worst.
I feel bad for Steve though.
@@bmarie1001 Well said. People change, rediscover themselves, & have to reckon with how to live authentically.
Yeah, this is a good point, actually.
if its Samantha, she would say nothing but Miranda some how will ask to be judge, and Samantha will simply reply : not my style, and give her a hug.
I do think Samantha would be understanding. In the end, Carrie was too, but still, no one likes to have wet themselves due to neglect.
People wanting the Miranda to stay the old is a great reflection of what the world expects from people during a midlife crisis.
Except it's not a midlife crisis but bad writing. They changed one of the most progressive women on TV into this weeping cheating woman. Miranda was always strong & the voice of reason. She didn't take crap from anybody. They completely changed who Miranda was because Cynthia Nixon didn't want to play a straight woman anymore. She should've done what Kim Catrall did by not coming back for a role she doesn't want to play anymore, instead of butchering the character to insert herself into a show.
Edit: typo
@@SyntheticHalo Perhaps it's not a midlife crisis, as a woman you probably know that better. Other than that, you are only confirming the point I am trying to make. What if it was written by a strong woman that went through a rough patch herself?
Everybody needs to ease the eff up on Samantha. She's been the character that had everything together throughout the entirety of the series. It's obviously a mid-life crisis. And I could see Carrie being upset, but she has ZERO right judge Miranda so harshly. What Miranda did in the kitchen was pretty much par for the course for Carrie in all 6 seasons of the show.
I miss Samantha.
But Carrie did it either in her apartment or the apartment of her messy lovers. Never in the apartment of one of her friends especially after offering to look after them.
@sersastark I get that. I guess I just feel Carrie's reaction was a bit harsh considering all the shitty things she did to her friends throughout the entirety of the series. It just seemed to be a bit more pointed than it needed to be. I dunno.
Maybe it's just me but Miranda always been a miserable character..she never appreciated the good guys like skipper and steve and when they finally go rogue, she is all over them! It's the same MO with che.. she's a selfish character but miranda cannot get enough of her, miranda just needs to be single cause she's determined to be a victim when the problem is clearly her
I NEVER liked Miranda but even I have to admit that they totally made her character and life within the series a TOTAL dumpster fire.🔥
It's still all about Carrie. Carrie is clown shoes.
She just got surgery????
Literally a HIP surgery ….she can’t move yo no matter how not a saint she is
I am sorry but Carrie got what she deserved. They don't realize that. When Carrie abandoned Miranda when she was sick to be with Big. I understand Carrie not being happy that she ended up going to the bathroom in bed, but Carrie is self-sighteous.
I hate how new shows break apart the happy endings of old shows (and movies that do that too).
Can you imagine Rachel and Ross still fighting over the break at age sixty? Ugh.
Miranda’s issue is putting herself last so long she’s now acting like a mid-life crisis.
Yo, pot/kettle, she is not been a good friend more times than you can count. Others are allowed to stumble. Even though I do like her calling her on it.
Call her out, let her know!! 👏👏
Rewatching this scene after watching season 2, it’s a whole lot more powerful. On the first watch I weirded about by Miranda and annoyed with Carrie. I’m no longer weirded out with Mir and I apologise for feeling that way. I’m still annoyed with Carrie to some extent.
But. I think it showed some real humanity, from both sides. Carrie is a self obsessed narcissist. I think we all know that. But when Miranda expressed how she felt in her marriage I think that showed one of the few time Carrie was thinking about someone else but herself. Albeit it was fleeting but it was there. And yes Miranda was acting on impulse and not thinking about Steve in that moment. But in that moment I think she was on to do so. The selfishness she has exhibited after this miner is a different story.
Anyway, I know these aren’t real people. But the otherwise awful first season of AJLT I this season, demonstrated some real humanity. Cheers (I’m English, hence the Cheers) x
stop using words you don't understand and...Do you have ANY friends?
Let Her Be Miranda Steve's Wife In Sex And The City And Cynthia Nixon In ReaL Life😊
Did you have that thought or did you read that thought and adopt it
@@kevinmurphy4582 What do you mean?
Carrie treated miranda like her slave here
Like she was supposed to be just there for her beck and call
And her judgement of miranda was so holier than thou like shes never made a mistake or put a foot wrong
This is a really backwards take.
Miranda promised to be there for Carrie in her hour of need while she was recovering from hip surgery.
You’ve got it twisted.
@@elizabethschubert7803 whatever 🙄
@elizabethschubert7803 you've actually got me twisted because I WASN'T actually being "backward" just felt sorry for miranda
I get Carrie needed her and all but she didn't have to be quite so harsh
There's needing somebody and then there's treating them like garbage and disregarding ( not only ) the fact that they have their own life but also that they just might be going through some shit too
@@elizabethschubert7803 even BEFORE her hip surgery Carrie could be very bitchy to her friends and they didn't deserve it like how she was with Charlotte in abudabi when she tried to warn her about aiden and said she was " playing with fire "
What was her excuse then MIRANDA was the one who was kind to her afterwards and took her for a drink
@@user-zm1no8lh8q I agree about all of that. I just didn’t agree that Carrie was being selfish in this particular scene.
Are you doing shots of tequila in your 50s? Sorry you got a problem. Miranda is a whole mess.
Oprah loves tequila, but yes, doing shots during weekday business hours is not advised.
Ok. I have never liked Carrie because she is a selfish jerk. It’s obvious that her friend is going through something that is causing her to behave out of character. Instead of Carrie being empathetic and respectful of her friend’s feelings, all while showing concern, she chastised her like a child and still maintained a demanding attitude of expecting Miranda to wait on her hand and foot. Carrie is destined to die alone surrounded by shoes and tacky clothes.
Carrie did a lot of bad crap in the past….but yet here she is being a hypocrite.
I've always loved Miranda ❤
This show is as horrible as Miranda’s friendship
Wow when Carrie had an affair , Miranda didn't judge her. She helped her getting out of it.
Plus carrie was not there to take care of Miranda when she broke her neck. She never takes care of her friends.
And how demeaning to ask for your friend to miss school so she can help you pee instead of hiring a nurse. Carrie is a millionaire at this piint.😢
I feel her pain. I’m not 😢happy I’m a 57 year old gay male and in general not happy with my life

I HATE Miranda in the new series. She was my favorite character of the four girls in the original.
I ht that “new” Miranda. They destroyed that character
Jesus.. Carrie looks like she's 90 years old.
Bc she won't dye her hair. She wanted to look aged.
🖍️Remember
I don't like how they turned Miranda into this person. The Miranda that was in the show doesn't align with this person.
Carrie had an affair with a married and wanted support but she can’t provide that for her friend
Carie did support Miranda once she understood what was happening & why.
This show was a classic, its a piece of crap now
Lol! It certainly has changed...
Miranda is and has always been the WORST character! She gets mad at Steve for a one night fling....then she ends up cheating on him!!! She has always been unhappy and negative. It never ends with her.
This was a horrible scene. Miranda is/was going through a lot and was trying to focus on something else and it didn’t work
I don’t like this new version whatsoever sorry
Carrie has always been a disgusting character
Carrie is just horrible
Lol, no one expects to have to deal with someone else's drama after just having had surgery.
@@got2bjosh she's awful ,
GL! 🤮
This is so awful what they have done to the show. Bad acting, bad writing. It’s nonsense.
Carrie’s just a really bad friend and it’s all about her always 🤢
To be fair, Miranda was there to look after Carrie.
I hate that Miranda 🤢🤬
What a dumb storyline
Which one, lol.
