    The reason people go crazy is not because of lacking constant approval of individuals.
    The reason people go crazy is because they think that they have to control and manage everything and every expectation in the first place.
    Just let some stuff go and stop playing games you really don't have any interest in, regardless if people frown on you for doing so.
    It doesn't feel good when people disapprove sometimes, but it feels a lot worse to feel beat down and enslaved when you cave in to expectations.

      I’ve had dozens of men expect me to go out with them for a date just because they were a man and wanted me. I said no. Politely.. And a lot of them still pursued some of them got downright nasty and one even physically assaulted me. Girl want you to pay for her car payment and you say no the worst that’s going to happen is she may be pissed off and not sleep with you. It’s not really a loss because you just got rid of a woman that you probably shouldn’t have around anyway. Woman says no to a man she often risks her life and reputation. (That’s another thing man will do when you reject them... tell all their friends that you didn’t..and make up stories about sexual things you did).

      light ghost Did you know that most women who are raped never report at all? Did you know that of the very small percentage that actually go to trial the conviction rate is extremely low? For every man who goes to jail for rape there are probably 100 women who are actually raped. False accusations are a big part of this because there is so much doubt about it because there are women who do that, but it’s actually not a big percentage. The number of women who are raped far exceeds the number of women who falsely report. Just because some women are assholes who did that doesn’t negate the fact that there are so many women who actually are raped.

Men reject all commitment to both woman and society - something that has been growing for many years. As a result the anger in men is coming out and this is breaking society. The abilities of men are valued and needed and if they stop committing then everyone losses; including women and society!! The sexual drive does not supersede the drive to live.

      This is a free market. If men are failing at the expectations set upon them it is their fault for not being good enough to meet the expectation, hence why they should remove themselves from society. It's an ego shot but nessesary to think of this in a darwinian sense. Those that are complaining about not living up to the standard set are being weaned out of the system, separating genetic wheat from chaff. If only we could let people euthanize and bow out with grace rather than force them to live lives they aren't made for, of course they would build resentment.

    • @derekboyt3383
      @derekboyt3383 Год назад

      @@Godfailedyoustophumpinghisleg - We don’t have a free market! Darwin’s theories are highly controversial! The system is broken and our leaders are promoting greed and chaos.
      Having an awareness about the societal direction is far different from complaining. It’s an acknowledgement of fact. If someone told you that you were a slave and should conform to that reality then you would be a fool to accept that reality.
      This problem isn’t genetic it’s societal (environmental) and that’s what Jordan was explaining. The system is broken!
      Your belief that the problem is Darwinian and genetic is incorrect. It’s predominantly societal and environmental - Jordan has repeatedly spoken about these issues.
      Mass euthanizing as a way to solve societal issues is really sick. That kind of thinking won’t fix the problems being faced - it will increase the chaos that Jordan was speaking about.
      Disconnecting from the commitment to a broken system is the first step towards correcting or replacing a broken system. Men are doing this in droves - and I’m talking about highly effective successful men.

    Wow, it's almost as if Peterson has been reading the Austrian Economists. He's recapitulated the Economic Calculation Problem here. Nice. He should revisit his arguments against socialism and apply the complexity lesson to his understanding of why socialism doesn't work. The stock market experiences bubbles and business cycles not "because chaos" but precisely because we allow certain entities like the central banks and law-making bodies the supposed authority to try to control the economy "all by themselves," and the consequences are periodically disastrous to lots of individual human beings.

    • @TheSlowbosambo

    • @deepfriedsammich
      @deepfriedsammich 6 лет назад +5

      Are the problems "capitalist problems?" Capitalism does not imply allowing a politically monopolized organization to control the means of exchange, for starters. If anything, what we see in our banged-up economy are socialist "fixes" chasing socialist problems. The root of the problems is that socialism is grounded in a superstition about the nature of value. It rests upon the unspoken idea that value is collective, intrinsic to things, and objective. None of these things are true. The market rests upon the idea that value is individual, subjective and imputed, and context-dependent. It isn't possible to rationally dictate value and expect an economy to work, because the attempt to dictate value destroys the source of the pricing information and negotiation of production and consumption, leaving both to chaos.

    Essential Truth- Once again, you have titled a Jordan Peterson video incorrectly in order to push your own biased agenda. At no point in this video does he specify gender. He uses the words "group", "society" "people" "social convention" and "the Patriarchal Structure" to describe the conforming forces of society, which can be understood to include both men and women. At one point in this lecture, he gives the example of the dynamics between a son and a father as the father tries to get his child to go to bed, but does not say anything about a wife or women at all. Do you really think your viewers don't notice the difference between your titles and the actual content? It only looks bad on you, not anyone else.

    Great explanation. There is personal "sacrifice" by a man to "fit in" his society that governs itself based on concensus. That "fitting-in" creates persona, and the "sacrifices" become his shadow cumulatively. Those are the "only" three archetypes that exist. Incidentally, a man's self gets polarized in to two parts as long as he lives in a culture (just like a fluid made with ionic bonds when subjected to external electric field). When surrounded by different cultures and grouping, a man needs multiple personae- and that casts multiple shadows.

    Yeah, my mother would fight with my sister every single morning for 30 minutes on what she was going to wear. 30 minutes, every morning, of every week day, for likely 8 years? And I even as a kid, I was 11 years old when this started, I remember thinking this going to have consequences later in life. I just instinctively knew this was very bad, and without getting into details, it had long lasting and devastating consequences later in life. Do not do this. You need to be the parent. If you don't, you'll end up with monsters, instead of children.

      Do you wear clothes? Do you brush your teeth, take showers, shave, act polite or follow rules occasionally? if you do, your a conformist. Everyone in society conforms to some degree. When Peterson is speaking of conformity, is he speaking more on behavior, and not on your beliefs. There may be some pressure to conform your beliefs as well, but the society we live in is complex and free enough that it allows for a variety of beliefs, within reason of course.

    In my opinion; collectivism falls apart once you consider that obedience is not a virtue. Someone who loves order might contend that this is too disorderly; but even that can be mended via, say leadership.
    I don't consider collectivism (in it's modern manifestation) to be either good or virtuous; though it's true that society is too intricately organised (and most people would be conformists anyway) to necessarily be refuted.

    8:19 We outsource Sanity because it’s incredibly complex, like a price of billions of things; thus outsourcing the value of a person, or their sanity, becomes like a stock market because people are always sending signals to each other about behavior. All day you smile, don’t smile, ignore, interact in a particular manner to particular people as signals to that individual that they are acting in a manner that you are expressing to them.

    The idea that sanity is dependent on group acceptance has flaws. What if one lives in an insane community? Many behaviors that would mark one as socially intolerable in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, when looked at objectively would be considered sane and moral. Same can be said for cults. If one were living in Jonestown, would the most sane behavior be that which is the most socially acceptable in that context?

    "Society" being the institutions that are raised up as the pillars of social value and culture; women being submissive will already gravitate to those institutions as they believe it will maximize their social affirmation: men go and "subdue the earth" there by naturally compete with each other to live an independent life. Women want stability there by will only partner with men who reaffirm the existing social institutions (society). I've seen this ethic play out over and over. College women are hearing from the university feminism this feminism that, so they conform and the men that are banging them just say oh ya I'm all for feminism blah blah blah and the guys that don't conform don't get any action. Lol

    • @markm2092
      @markm2092 4 года назад +1

      Men that don't conform get more action, I think your personal bias or situation is blurring your vision. Women gravitate towards the men who you say get no action. They do it because those men are filled with life essence and masculine energy, and men gravitate towards women who are filled with life essence and feminine energy, although unaccomplished men mostly avoid and secretly adore realized women whereas women become groupies for realized men.

    • @louisforum1246
      @louisforum1246 4 года назад +1

      Mark Matsiko: I think you misunderstood what I'm saying...and "I'm not quite sure what my situation is or bias is." But the social institutions that constitutes "society" are built by men, those men get laid, the nonconformist guys don't get laid for they are as you put it unactualized or unrealized, however you put it. The board members of a fortune 100 company and the lawyers and so down the line are way more attractive to women than the nonconformist playing video games in moms basement, or out preaching religion etc etc. yes the 'beta' males at the bottom of society, conforming aren't attractive. But unless you go out and 'subdue the earth' and create something brand new, like tech companies in the last decade, which creates a lot of conformity, your just a nonconformist nobody socially disconnected there by have no value unless you conform to "society" and women expect this other wise...no action.

      Not trying to say anything about your personal situation I just wasn't sure why you saw the world that way when it seemed like the opposite in reality.
      I agree but I still think non conformists get more action. But to me a basement dweller isn't a non conformist, he simply isn't participating. A non conformist is someone who acts on his own terms rather than someone who avoids the social institutions.

Marketing this video by making the very egotistical assumption that it is all about a particular subset, doing exactly what the conformists want to do, in of the fact that they are choosing to view this in terms of groups of arbitrarily assigned people, rather than allowing people to retain their individuality.

    This structure he says we need, is this a fairly modern thing due to our current living conditions? Or has it always been like this? Say, when people didn't know if they were going to get food on a regular schedule, sleeping when it was dark, but being woken up at different times, for different reasons? At first I was thinking that this was a modern thing, but now I'm thinking it's possible that it's always been this way, to some varying degree....? For instance, in the late 40's/early 50's; people may have slept better than they do now, due to harder physical work, and less blue light light devices(none really). But in caveman times(lol) food was not as easy as going to the store, and a hunt wasn't always successful. Also, shelter wasn't always guaranteed or in the same place and weather had a big influence sleep.

    Gotta love the public school system ... I was a Ritalin adhd kid who dreaded school because of the repetitive mind numbing experience it became. The resentment I had for it because there was nothing there that was useful to me besides Lunch and Gym or any part of the day where I could be with my friends other wise I was so painfully bored of it and felt like it was an absolute waste of time...
    SoThey pumped me full of adderal and ritalin to stop me from staring at the clock and writing song lyrics on my English home work... An then I started to disassociate from my friends. I went from being bored and insubordinate to restless alone angry and pissed off. I lost friends and never understood why? but I knew I had to do good in school or else i'd never make it in "The Real World"...
    However... An I don't know how it came about but I learned about a trade school that was available where you actually did stuff like working in automotive tech or culinary. This was my way out I wanted to learn about cooking and restaurant management so in 10th grade most of my school day was spent doing something I actually wanted to do and enjoyed doing. that was "in the real world".
    An low an behold I got all the drug pushing teachers and my own parents off my back and I made new friends who shared some of what I wanted to do as opposed to this one size fits all stuff. I was working in hotels at 17 years old. 70% of my day was learning a trade and the other was back at school learning the status quo. I'm sharing this because if there was more teachers like Jordan Peterson in the world. Perhaps it might make school a bit more manageable for certain kids and maybe make you think twice about giving your kids Narcotics before they hit puberty
    ...I feel boys have it rough in the modern school system especially when there is this added incentive to get more women in the workplace
    I mean
    of course in the 90's early 2000's were taught that if you graduated highschool and your parents had enough money you were pretty much on your way to College where your given a broad life path that would get you into "The Real world" and you'd be set up for life... Now college seems like a an adult day care center an no wonder kids are angry and resentful quit lying to them about who or what they are as young women and men and more importantly quit drugging them before they have the age to consent "learning disorders" or otherwise.

    Wanna know how people go insane? You punish them when they behave well. You punish them but you don't tell them why. It's even worse if you gaslight them and tell them the wrong reason why you punish them and punish them even more afterwards. The worst is when you punish them but tell them there is no punishment. That's how you make people go insane.

    I won't do it. Now a days, an artist must isolate. ( A real one).

      That's always been the case. Committees don't create art, individuals do.
