      sorry, i cant sub or watch anymore, trump and elon have openly thearented uk lives and said that theyd raise tarifs on our health service, and of course, clamed the wrong person is our prime minster, and said the uk is a facist state....so...sorry. many many uni students like myself have been asked to un sub from any youtuber that openly supoports trump or elon..i know you dont support his comments, but this is IS promoting elon musk and....i cant. hes claimed we stab people randomly in the uk. he said a racist facist should be our leader... when ww2 is very fresh to the uk, we take comments like that VERY seriously.....its just insane how dangerous this is all getting. so students been asked to not support musk or trump channels...

      I imagine the spiral crew cabin design not only maximizes space, but also could allow a detcord haul ejection system, so if you have parachutes in the cabins, you could eject while at subsonic speeds or close to it. The detcord could unzip the haul and allow the cabins to eject outward.

    It is just incredible how much space there is inside the Starship nosecone. Some people permanently live in a smaller volume than that! People can walk (float) around and not be hitting their elbows everywhere. Heck they could even jog around the inside perimeter like in 2001 A Space Odyssey.

      It's definitely roomy. My wife and I lived in less than 225 square feet for almost 8 years aboard a sailboat. But unlike an astronaut, we could spend time on deck, stretch the legs, poke our head out whenever we wanted, they won't be able to do that.
      It's going to take some special people to be able to cope with that type of confinement. I used to think that I could be the type of person to journey to and live on Mars but after years of living aboard, I've decided it's not for me (not that I'd have a chance to be an astronaut anyway). My bet is that some submariners could be trained, they've already proven their mental abilities to be able to confine themselves for extended periods of time.
      Exciting times we live in, I can't wait for the delayed- live feeds during these missions!

It saves weight versus 6 dedicated downcomers,, while avoiding the complexity of N-way splits with different pipe lengths and angles. We'll find out soon enough :)

    I still wonder why SpaceX doesn’t perform a short re-entry burn on the super heavy booster similar to the falcon nine process. I know this would reduce payload capacity, but it was scary watching the yellow-hot engine section of the booster before the catch on the last flight. There was clearly some damage and this certainly would affect the quick turnaround they are looking for. I haven’t heard anybody discuss this possibility. What do you think?

    • @zhentaa
      @zhentaa 16 дней назад

      When SpaceX decided on full reuse, they gave up the option of simply taking the easy route at the cost of payload. If they tackled all their problems like that, payload would hit zero very quickly. They won't be able to make all of their optimizations work in the end, but that just means they have to try a lot of them to find enough of the ones that do work.

    Hey Marcus, that was surprising news about the orbit boost by Dragon. I had thought the previously held functionality was that the Dragon was incapablr of doing that. Well surprise, surprise. So is a nrw deorbit vehicle actually requires, or could have a couple of Dragons appropritely synchronised, do the job. They are redundant with the ISS gone anyway.

    • @simongeard4824
      @simongeard4824 18 дней назад +1

      I think it's more that the thruster layout on Dragon isn't particularly well suited for pushing forward, rather than that it wasn't possible at all.
      But no, a dedicated de-orbit vehicle is definitely needed. The requirement is basically "as much force as you can put into the station structure without breaking things", and an unmodified capsule doesn't have anywhere near the amount of thrust needed to deliver on that. They're talking about having 20-30 Draco thrusters added to a customised vehicle to give it the required power...

    On the graphs it would be interesting to see the change in energy over time, and hence the work being done to slow it down
    Total Engergy = mass * height + 1/2 mass * velocity * velocity
