The Wukong controversy is so stupid Sweet Bully Inc tried hard to extort the devs and when it backfired they created a massive lie that backfired hard.
You have zero proof of this, stop being so scared of sweet baby inc, your boogeyman, you’re just a pitiful conspiracy theorist that wants something to blame for how much you hate progressiveness.
You need to be specific and fair, otherwise the DEI supporters will call you out. SBI was rumoured to have extorted Game Science (not the devs) who were going to handle Wukong. The amount in question ($7-8 million) was also not proven. However given SBI's actions in the past (including the CEO's speeches and posts), they DO threaten companies with what will happen if they do not get hired and implement DEI policies. The posts calling for proof of SBI's extortion and the amount they wanted from Game Science haven't been answered yet. But what is also important is that DENIALS are absent too, both from SBI (e.g. "No we have never approached Game Science about BM: Wukong") and Game Science.
They're responsible for Spider-Man 2, Suicide Squad and Gow Ragnarok. Funny thing is, all those games are worse than their previous titles, take a long guess why.
It's not like I needed ANOTHER reason not to buy a Ubisoft game, but them admitting that it's going to run terribly anyway is another nail in the coffin. I don't think Joe covered it, but when they removed *paid* single player DLC from Far Cry 3, that was the end for me.
Kotaku editors have made it clear, they're far more interested in politics and activism than just reporting facts about interesting games. Joe, this isnt the first time a company didn't include the game at all in special editions. I forgot which one did this before but you've talked about it at the time.
So let me get this straight: Dragon Age producers put out a trailer that's extremely disappointing to fans; after that they remove the ability to play as multiple characters leading to disappointment; and in this atmosphere of disappointment they reveal an """edition""" of the game that doesn't include the game. Are these people living in reality or are they so removed from it that they mistake it for their corporate dystopia dream?
lack of female representation in video games is what keeps modders in business, you don't see a lot of {Muscle Daddy XXL Tank Replacer (Hairy Edition)} mods because the characters are usually already looking like they just got back from a German Pride Parade

They are being sold separately in the ea store just like a hoodie or figurine would be sold to a fan of them. Alex is presenting it as ea/bioware being scummy and deceiving the buyer when that is not what's happening at all.

@@SixBladesKojiro It does not look like a mobile game. Just because a game is stylized and not hyper-realistic looking doesn't mean it's bad. Dragon Age has always been stylized. It's so tiring how people only care for graphics these days.
@SixBladesKojiro the lengths the alphabet brigade and bots go to defend that slop is amazing. Dragon age is the perfect example of an outside group hijacking a franchise and destroying it out of sheer spite and tribalism . @@DeShawnMcDonald What "outside group"? The core development team of this game has been at BioWare for 15 years. You are only repeating what every other uninformed guy on the internet has been saying for the past 15 years. "The Old Bioware is Dead" is a phrase that has been said for more than 20 years at this point. People said the same thing when Dragon Age Origins came out. They wanted another Baldur's Gate 2. It's a never ending cycle with you guys. Again, the graphics and tone of the first reveal trailer are not representative of the game because EA's marketing made it. What about the latest in-game footage trailer makes you think that DA is not "gritty dark fantasy" anymore? What "tactics and strategies" in Origins are you talking about? The combat was a slog. The game's director personally admitted that. It's the nostalgia speaking with you guys. They've been going for a more action oriented combat since 2011 and yet people are somehow still complaining now 13 years later. If you don't like the action, this franchise hasn't been for you since 2011. How can you tell if these new characters are not "grounded and realistic feeling" when we have no idea who these characters even are yet? You haven't played the game. You haven't talked to them. Most of the writers for these characters were the same as in Origins, DA2 and DAI. I don't know why you're insulting me for objectively looking at the stuff that has been presented and thinking that it looks good. It's a matter of taste. I don't care for any LGBT. Gays and lesbians have been in DA since Origins. The lead writer of Origins was a gay man. It's gonna be like any other DA game, and you can play this and not be bothered by any of it. As a huge fan of the lore, the characters and the worldbuilding, this game is looking very promising.
I go with the 3 strikes rule when it comes to delays. One delay is ok, it shows that they are more concerned with delivering a good product than putting something out to appease hype. Two delays is concerning, it shows that they routinely overestimated their ability to cover the scope of the project and are running into hiccups as a result. Thee delays is when you take whatever your bar of expectations is and firmly plant it on the floor and hope that whatever comes out is at least a good game.

@JeyVGaming bought that chest back on release because I was hyped for the new Dragon Age game after enjoying both of the other entries (that's right, I liked DA2) but will be most likely waiting for the new one to show up in the pre-owned store some weeks later. Everything I see and hear about the new game encourages caution.
It's not suppose to make up for the RPG elements or tactics mode. It's suppose to make up for not having the game.
Fuck angry joe and fuck youtube and there one minute fucken ads
Disingenuous and slanderous.
Truly great role models of the gaming industry...
"These special editions are perfect, I didn't want to play the game anyway" Peak Alex.
Gollum didn't have enough inclusion
It was under his loin cloth
The black myth wu Kong controversy just sounds dumb because frankly all of these journalists should do is review the game that about it.
Kotaku editors have made it clear, they're far more interested in politics and activism than just reporting facts about interesting games. You might wonder why people who don't want to talk about video games are writing for a publication whose purpose is supposed to be writing articles about video games and those who play them, but we honestly don't know for sure why people who don't want to talk about video games are hired to do so and may never until IGN and all those it now owns collapse because nobody actually uses their sites or reads their articles unless it's to make fun of them.
@@GodhandPlusOne I generally don't unless I'm looking up stuff about a game and end up on one of the useful articles actually about what I want to do. I mainly know about their behaviour because they always kick up a fuss on Twitter and other content creators I watch make fun of them for moaning about people not using their sites or being told by management to do more gaming articles instead of think pieces.

The thing about the Black Myth Wukong “Controversy” is that a Journalist pressed the developers about the sexist comments. But the comments from the Developer were poorly mistranslated. Directly translating the Developers words made no sense in English, but they’re continuously pressing the Developers without considering the possibility that there’s a language barrier.
this new Dragon Age game has had Red Flag after Red Flag... ugh.. so your telling me EA that you want $150. for ONE Dice.. a Flask.. a Plastic Sword.. and a Thank You Letter.. plus i still have to Buy the $70. Game.. so you want $220. for a game that looks worst than the last one.. F U..

Remember when having "too much water" in your videogame was the dumbest thing a reviewer could say? It feels like that's so tame compared to the stupid crap reviewers talk about nowadays.
Game journalists in the US (not something I've observed in Europe though) are largely dropouts from "higher" forms of art criticism. Most of them play at best occassionally, at worst never at all. They've infested the gaming industry with politics just to make themselves feel relevant because every other alley had long been shut firmly before them.
I really don't see how that's dumb, if the water isn't fun but I traverse, then isn't it a valid complaint?

The funny part about "the developer of Wukong doesn't like women" is that all of this comes from an interview by IGN that was badly translated.
And places like The Gamer ran with it, even though it was already known that the translation was bad.
The translator never got paid either
To be fair, the book, Journey to the West, does have multiple female characters and monsters with female attributes.
Finally, someone who can give some context. Thanks!
Yeah but isn't this an alternative myth where the actual Sun Wukong died and an impostor took his place? At any rate, too early to say, let's wait and see . And besides this writer threw some bait to get clicks.
Well is this game based on that or just based on Wukong? Not trying to be rude or anything but just asking because this doesn’t seem to be following the same story as the Book….
So it would be better to add more female characters to beat up?
@@Justin-fm2rj Completely doing away with the female side of the old story clearly shows intended bias
Screen Rant is pretty much just trolls. It's hard for me to believe that they're actually as stupid as they seem to be.

The controversy is based on a Mistranslation spread around by many journalists. Not just one lol
Also the fact that game science is backed up by the ccp which is gonna get them hated for obvious reasons. As for the sexist comments, the devs would be smart to not sound like edgy 13 year olds who’ve never touched grass before.
@@steamworkfox4564 I think he's referring to the one later reviewer that was making an issue of the perceived absence of DEI representation in the game. 2:40 minutes of adds, man…
Tbf it’s a 28 min video not 12 min
Also how are they gonna stay relevant without the r34? It was the advertising for Overwatch.

It loos like a mobile game. Anyone with eyes can see that.
@@SixBladesKojiro It does not look like a mobile game. Just because a game is stylized and not hyper-realistic looking doesn't mean it's bad. Dragon Age has always been stylized. Veilguard has the best looking facial expressions and hair physics BioWare has ever done. And judging by the latest trailer that showed only in-game footage, it's by far the most cinematic BioWare game yet. The reveal trailer is not representative of the game in terms of graphics or tone. It's so tiring how people only care for graphics these days.
@@redbadger7005 lol
@SixBladesKojiro the lengths the alphabet brigade and bots go to defend that slop is amazing. Dragon age is the perfect example of an outside group hijacking a franchise and destroying it out of sheer spite and tribalism .
We went from gritty dark fantasy with tactics and strategies to spam X button and occasionally hit special attack button and from grounded and realistic feeling characters to what can only be described as if you let a homophobic 12 year draw what they see lgbt people as but people still defend it
@@DeShawnMcDonald What "outside group"?
