Finally, an informative topic about refurbished chipsets! Though medyo slight correction lang regarding the Snapdragon 680: The Snapdragon 680 is like a direct refurbished version of the Snapdragon 662 but with a smaller and better 6nm processor (compared to the Snapdragon 662 with 11nm) and the fact that the Snapdragon 680 does not fully support WiFi 6 as of yet compared to the Snapdragon 662. On the Mediatek side, you're correct with the Mediatek Helio G99 chipset being a refurbished version of the Mediatek Helio G70. Does it still count as an upgrade though? Yes, especially if you're a gamer who has a knack of clocking in for long hours of gaming. Is it bad though for Mediatek and Snapdragon to use refurbished chipsets? Not exactly, though one has to be knowledgeable about the chipsets though before buying a new phone, especially for non techies out there.

Snapdragon 680 could support 90Hz Display while 662 can't. Hindi pako nakakita hindi pako nakakita ng phone na naka 90Hz SD662.

Great Analysis! Personally wala naman along problema sa pagrefurbish since meron talaga ng global chip shortage since 2020 pa. Manufacturers would really have to find ways to reuse such chips to maximize their profit. Ang dapat lang siguro dito is mas transparent sila sa consumer and dapat I inform nila ung market on these things para di lumabas na nagcocost cutting lang.

true Sir. g96 and g99 has the same GPU na Mali-G57 samantalang Mali-G76 yung nasa G95. dto palang pansin na kung upgraded ba or hindi.

Sa graphics, Mas Kaya lang ng Redmi 10 Ang ultra pero sobra Naman Kung mag init at nag fluctuate na sya. Sa Tecno spark 6 G70 kahit sagad lahat NG settings tamang iinit sya pero go paren Hindi sya mag fluctuate at mag crash na nagiging sanhi ng pag restart ng game. It means Yung G88 ng Redmi ay pwedeng ihalimbawa sa motor na dating stock at ngayon ay upgraded pero Ang lakas mag init.

Sa snapdragon ang tamang upgrade sa series nila ay 4,6,7,8 basta pataas. Wag ka maga-upgrade ng same series

Dimensity 900 and 1080 is just an overclocked Dimensity 700. Dimensity 1300 is just an overclocked 1000. Dimensity 1000 and 1080 are different. Dimensity 700 is lower midrange, dimensity 1000 is higher midrange to almost flagship.

Kumbaga sa case ni Helio G series, almost same performance pero mas efficient sya pagdating sa battery consumption at heat (which is less heat, less thermal throttle). Good thing sa ginagawa ng mga SOC designer ay hindi nagiging obsolete yung mga previous released nilang SOC kaya no need to upgrade your mobile phone unless kung masira na talaga sya. I myself is using a G90T SOC and natutuwa lang ako na may mga ganyang iteration pero no need ko pa magpalit ng celfone para malaro mga demanding games na nirerelease ngayon. Mas mainit sya kesa sa mga current release pero manageable naman.

somewhat agree that it's just rebranding for some of the chipset's leap but i think for some it's more of innovation within a working wheel. They maximize its capability and potential while they are still working for the new technology that will change the chapter for G70.

Compare mo sa Infinix Note 12 Pro 5G na may processor na Dimensity 800 (6nm) w/ GPU Mali-G57 MC2.

Oo mas mabilis ang processor pero sa Graphics card maliit lang nilagay, parang PC din yan, example kahit na Ryzen 5 pa proc. w/out video card VS core i3 5th generation na may Nvidia 4GB dedicated Video Card. Pwede ka na maglaro ng mabibigat na games na walang lag.
