First, we look at the surprising origins of the 442 name and how it evolved from initially meaning a 4-barrel carburetor, 4-speed transmission, and dual exhaust. In the mid-60s heyday of American muscle cars, the 442 packed a thumping 400 cubic inch V8.

Shifting to styling, we look at some of the more subtle and lesser-known design cues that differentiated the 442 from other Oldsmobile models, helping give the muscle car its unmistakable look.
Finally, we reveal surprising facts about the 442's pop culture impact and legacy as one of the quintessential American muscle cars from the golden era of performance in the 1960s.

Do you love an Oldsmobile 442?
Absolutely man, I mean come on its a great looking muscle car after all.
yes, thank you@@CJColvin
@@CJColvin why is this 1968 Olds the worst 442 ?
@RogerMorazzano Have no clue, people that claims its the worst are nothing but clueless morons. The worst 442 is definitely the 73 to 78.
@@RogerMorazzanoit’s not the 1968 442 was one of the best ever made! 1968,-1971 best years ever
Before today, I've never heard anyone ever say that the Olds 442 was the worst musclecar in the musclecar world.
There are many such reviews.
I owned two 442s. A ‘66 tri-powered holiday coupe, four speed with 3:08 posi rear. It was very fast and handled very well. I then upgrade to a ‘69 four speed holiday coupe with 3:73 posi rear. It would brake the rear tires loose in forth at 70 mph when I floored it. I could smoke the tires from first to forth. It handled and braked with the best of them. Then I went all out with a 70 454 Vette coupe, for speed. Now that was really fast!
Congratulations on your great car.
I believe that the Oldsmobile 442 is not the worse muscle car, just became underpowered over a period of time, which is in my opinion though totally wrong in more ways than one,but still cool as hell good, great job with this video.
Thank you for your opinion. Hope you continue to watch my videos.
@@qmusclecars no worries and you're welcome, not to mention I will keep watching the videos.

We Will Always Love The 1967 442 W30
The EPA is a huge cancer to the car industry, they're currently doing the same thing to Dodge right now.
Great. Thanks for your information.
The 442 was an OLDSMOBILE….which was a GENERAL MOTORS-BUILT CAR. ( Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, & Cadillac.
CHRYSLER CORPORATION (Mopar) was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPANY (Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler, & Imperial) and would NOT supply engines to a GENERAL MOTORS CAR BRAND .
Time for some more FACT CHECKING, maybe?
Ya I noticed that lol
Thank you.
🐐 BTR 😊
Thank you for watching my video. Have a good day.
Oldsmobile is neither Mopar or Chrysler

Oldsmobile we’re one best muscle cars out there 442 was a very strong car in the 60 70 but in 80 we’re junk
You compare current technology and 10 years from now it seems unfair.
