Some shounen manga, like One Piece, have repeating arcs structures: the main characters go to another island, meet the inhabitants and learn about the culture, get in a fight with the big bad of the arc, usually there is some kind of ticking clock to add tension to the fight and then they have recovery period before they leave the island. Any tips for avoiding arc repeating, and by that i mean having same story structure without repeating same plot points in a next or another arc. Readers can easily point out similarities in two arcs, like Bleach has the whole thing where people compare Hueco Mundo and Soul Society arcs due to their similarities and many think its bad that they are similar. So, how to make repeating arc structure without its repetitiveness becoming detriment to the readers enjoyment? I don't count episodic manga, like Jojo from part 3 onward, where its mainly "Enemy Stand of the Week", but if you have tips for episodic "villain of the week" style manga story, I'm interested.
Ngl the sketch style you have really helps me draw faster. The whole bigger brush for the outline of the body, leaving me to draw out the rest is extremely helpful and lets you not worry so much about the details in the presketch

Imma be brutally honest to every artist but to do this u do need extreme understanding of the fundamentals if you’re gonna be as rough as whyt is, don’t get me wrong, the video is good but also be realistic and think how much experience whyt has and plan ur roughs accordingly to what u need before u move onto lineart

But, when he says the line " I bet I draw more than you" Hes not meaning to be conceited. He practices himself on the bus, train, car every where really within reason and thinks about perspective in his head constantly for it. The point I was getting at is even a man like him doesn't just poof designs out of nothing - he built a reference library in his own mind to pick from when drawing over the course of his practices, and its something anyone can do with time.
I think this is a great idea for those who already have a fairly established artstyle. I wouldn't recommend this for beginners or early intermediate. I kinda want to try this, but I'll wait til I have more experience. I think I need to work on the overall sketch process first.

I've been thinking about making a story that I've had into either an anime or graphic novel but the part in ur vid about making a script first helped me out a lot, I'd just never thought about it before. What I was currently doing was making it up as I do storyboards. Definitely not the best way to do it. Thanks!
100% using this. I made some short stories on insta and i post 1 chapter every week but since i work it feels like i always get it done at the last minute.
The skipping the sketch thing is something I do a lot. Honestly what helped me the most was just straight up inking no undersketch. Looking at the work of Yoji Shinkawa, Syd Mead, Moebius, Kim Jung Gi, etc helped me a lot. Be confident use sharpie or brush pen move from your elbow and shoulder to define the big forms and then tighten up around complicated intersections of forms, joints, detailed texture, etc. Just let it flow out don't stress too much don't worry if they don't look good at first I promise it'll improve your drawing and inking speed, confidence, and shape design.
I figured this out last year xD i was getting to the point of doing sometimes 2 refined sketches over the dummy layer... now i just treat the first refined sketch as the ink. loosened up my lineart and speed up my time!

I used to do it like this: 1 Rough ► 2 Refined ► 3 Ink ► 4 Color Now I do this: 1 Refined-ish ► 2 ink ► 4 Color I basically try to draw like is a finished drawing but not caring about my mistakes like crooked or jagged lines. However every line you draw should have the intention to be a final line. I also make sure to put most of elements on the artwork but I don't detail or polish them, I just need a general idea of what's going on. It's tricky but it has given me nice results. Nice video!

For everyone saying "this requires a very thorough understanding of the fundamentals" well yeah! You probably aren't trying to meet super tight deadlines if you're a beginner. A client right now wants 100 comic cards by the end of May. Impossible for me. I told him it's not happening, I have 2 infants at home with me and I have other weekly commitments to magazines. That's why I'm here. But honestly, I was already skipping the finer sketch... my art doesn't come out good but it comes out good enough

I want to read one badly, but pls make the heroines with variety and from many backgrounds ( like Infinite Stratos where there're not only heroines of the same ethnicity as the protagonist (Houki) but also from Germany and England ).
I tried to do it in a simple portrait (not from a comic page) and the result was not that good, I got lost in proportions. My personal opinion is that this way of drawing take a time to get used to.
I notice that people try to cram too much into small panels. Don't do that as it can give someone a headache if you have too much detail. Do less work and simplify. Especially if the panel is small, there's no need to draw someone's whole face in a tiny little corner.

Reference is so important if you wanna draw fast. Idk why so many people (probably non artists) have such a problem with reference.

By creating something you own the copyright..just put the thing out and don't concern yourself with legality until you have any semblance of success.

I could tell this applies to comic books and webtoons as well.
I pretty much just do the inking or do bare minimum 2 minute pencils.
