The first draft of Whedon's screenplay was quite good but they took out a lot of the really good stuff and gave it to the wrong director to helm. Imagine an Alien film directed by someone like Alejandre Aja.
The Neil Blampkot movie wasn’t written until just before Covenant. It was greenlit but Ridley preempted it and it was cancelled. I believe it did have some elements of William Gibsons 3 script. But it wasn’t a choice between resurrection or blampkotts because there was 15 years between them. years
Wasn’t a fan of this movie. The plot kind of sucks but what really let’s it down are the characters. Dear lord why do the characters get weaker as the series progresses? Alien and Aliens had characters we could care about and route for (even the bad guys were multi dimensional such as in the case of Burke), even Alien 3 had one or two that stood out but Alien Resurrection just had no one. Later on Promethius had Shaw (but she was immediately killed off in the next movie so they ruined any potential) and David was ok (but even then he became a moustache twirler) but outside of that the last few movies have been populated by morons. Urgh. Anyway. Great video. Not sure why you don’t have more views, these videos are great.
Every time someone mentions Firefly, I shed a single tear of regret over what might have been... Great job chaps, entertaining and informative as ever 👍
I think in the novelisation it was where it was explained that the aliens didn't spit their way out, cause it would've taken to long and the humans could've reacted. Call said she couldn't trust ripley cause she didn't know what to make of her I think. When she pretended to be drunk she went to kill her, but couldn't bring herself to do it, especially when knowing the alien is not in her anymore I think. I like the 4th movie a lot more than the 3rd even tho I also didn't really like the newborn. It is definetly not as good as the first two, but the 3rd is just to much of a mess to me. I prefer the characters in the 4th, cause with a few exceptions the characters in 3 were all just generic prison guy and the in 4th while with most not really given time to really introduce them, the characters had at least a few established traits and felt different and interesting enough. The 3rd movie was also just visually bad imo. The alien looked bad most of the time and the setting felt very stale super fast, especially with that weird orange filter going on or lighting or whatever it is that makes the movie just look orange. And then there's the part where they invalidated what the characters achieved in the 2nd movie, right at the beginning.
Alien 3 is one of the most underrated movies of all time, alongside AVP. I have watched both many times with great pleasure. That operatic shot at the end of Alien3 is truly spectacular.
What makes this movie even more embarrassing is if you factor in Prometheus. Timeline: "The Engineers" create humans "The Engineers" create black goo zombie juice to kill humans they created for some reason. Humans create Androids Android creates Xenomorph from Black goo zombie juice to fulfill a desire for self expression. Or something Ripley stops Xenomorph. Humans Clone Ripley and Xenomorph. Xenomorph de‐evolves to be more human and become "not the MaMa". So I guess Humans won? 🤷 We won by making the Alien stupid 🤪
@@bambalamrambalam2773 Hope to have it up Tuesday. We've been leaving messages back and forth with many questions and getting pissed off. Show will be grand. LOL!
It might seem like David created the xenos but 2 things you see xenos on the heiroglophics in the pyrmid and 2 weyland talks about the signal on lv426 and David was the only person besides weyland and one of his cronies. And 2 he found what the engineers were working on in their lab. Also in the alien movie magazine they told the story of how the derelict got on the planet
Alien Resurrection has some moments that's pretty good , but overall isn't a good movie . I've seen both versions and I still think the theatrical version is the better version .
Alien was a horror movie
Aliens was an action movie
Alien 3 was a drama
Resurrection was a flat out comedy
Can't argue that.
Alien 4 is the definition of, "They had us in the first half, not gonna lie."

A bit like Romulus
David Crockett almost drowned on the river. His colleagues had to pull him out of the riverboat’s window!

Interesting. I may need to read that novel. Your take makes sense about 3 verses 4. Appreciate the view!
It's alight. The non cgi effects are good

An early draft was but 20th Century fox said no: screenrant.com/alien-3-newt-return-resurrection-original-plan/
Yeph they wanted weaver the same fox did with 3 they said were not doing it with out weaver so they ended up backing brinks trucks up to her house
