@@stoneyandroid1646 yes, we can use both, no problem . Like in most Pahari dishes my mother use gehu ka aata, in some dishes she use rice flour slurry and sometimes besan for thickening. We can use anyone of them.

We use gehu ka aata for thickening, especially in this dish.
