We have had our WAVE for 6 months and it has improved so much, love the ability to play from Tee to Pin with the brilliant putting mat. The firm wear updates keep improving the product (like my Tesla used to do), the course graphics are very, very good
I have had mine for about six months now, it is a good simulator experience. I use this along with my GC3, you can only use the Wave with their courses. But it is an excellent launch monitor. The only issue I have had is when you are in the middle of a game it will say ready, you hit the shot and it don’t pick the ball up. Other than that it is a nice little launch monitor.
Nice to see a recent review on the Wave. I was considering buying one but I couldn't figure out how they could possibly measure sidespin on a radar device without using metal dots or RCT balls. I asked Golfzon and they told me it calculates spin using an algorithm based on measured club and ball flight data from the radar. They also said they do not plan to incorporate RCT ball technology into the device. That was the killer for me because if you are going to pay that much for a device it really does need to measure spin accurately for reliable shot shape. So it's basically a very expensive golf simulator device primarily for recreation and not game improvement. If that what you want though then it looks like a great device! I will stick with playing GSPRO using the connector for Rapsodo MLM2Pro. It gets the job done at a much cheaper price!
I understand where you are coming from with this. It is geared towards a certain category and it does what it does very well but I certainly get your point also.
Besides the short chips I was very impressed with the accuracy. I would say very close to numbers I would see on my EYEXO. I don't have the GC3 but have tested it and know my numbers pretty well. Definitely comparable for both devices.
Is it possible to buy just the putting mat to use for practice? I'd rather use something like a mevo plus for game improvement, but that mat seems like a real useful tool!
Hi Ken, I don't believe it is possible just to buy the putting mat without the Radar device to be honest. If you want a great putting tool that is similar consider the Exputt possibly. shop.exputt.com/products/exputt%C2%AE-real-time-putting-simulator
FYI, I think it's the same as with the Mevo+ using wifi to connect to the PC. You can just plug in a USB wifi dongle and give your computer a second wifi connection to connect to the device and use your built in PC wifi to connect to your internet
Ok, awesome. Let me check that out. I don't have hard wired internet so if a dongle works to create a second wifi point than that will certainly fix the issue. Thanks for the help!
Just a quick question maybe you can answer... running into alot of issues "canceled" ball - not reading no tripod legs installed, exact lengths from ball to monitor and ball to radar, updated firmware skills app, aligned on skills app, its about 60% ball detected and then 40% "canceled".. it is becoming very frustrating.. have you had any issues like this? still waiting on tech support to comment
@@EduardoEspinosa-j7c stumbled upon the solution randomly… I had a trackman before and all RCT equipped balls. Those balls were creating the issue on GolfZone. All of the issues went away when we used normal playing golf balls. Works perfectly now!
For the righty lefty setup, wouldn’t it be more of an annoyance having to keep moving the putting mat back and forth? Clearly the mat would be in the way of someone hitting the opposite side no? If you keep moving the putting mat during play, does it affect reading putts accurately?
For righty lefty I would just put it behind the hitting area in the middle maybe a few feet back out of the way of the club path as talked about in the video.
I have the wave too. But For mine, i think the setting for the game mode is like draw-bias. People hit slice outside, hit straight at my place.. and people hit baby draw outside, hit hook. Idk why.
Strange...I wonder if it's a calibration thing possibly? Have you tried opening or closing the device to target to see if it corrects it. With something like the Skytrak I've had to open or close it to target to adjust accordingly before. Try hitting some small chip shots as dead straight as possible and see if you notice a draw bias. If so, try opening or closing the device to target and readjust to see if that possibly helps. Should you have to do this, absolutely not. Do you have to do this sometimes with devices, unfortunately yes!
Returning mine the minute I unboxed it. Cannot connect to AirPlay with my iPad or iPhone. When connected to the device wifi, thats the only option to connect to it. Which means you dont have internet when connected to the device. Unless you have a PC etc….. Under low light outside it does not detect the ball. Gave me tilt errors yet there is no tilt adjustment….. Dont get this. There are better ones, easier to use, much cheaper.

I am very very impressed with the device, especially putting overall.
@@GarageGolf phenomenal putting, I would say best on the market.
As always, Roland, great review!!!
Thanks so much for watching!
Great video Roland....Thank-you! Rex
Anytime Rex. Thanks for watching!

Have you tried using exputt with the mlm2pro and gspro?
Besides the short chips, how accurate would you say this device is compared to something like the gc3?

Roland, when you’re not reviewing a unit, which one do you find yourself using the most?
Primarily either the Uneekor EYEXO or the Uneekor EYE MINI/MINI Lite are two that I use the most regularly for my personal setup.
Awesome as always. If only I had 20 feet !
Closer to about 16-17 feet now with the latest update.
You only need 8.5 ft now after the latest firm wear update
@@homecourse6154 8.5 feet from ball to screen. You still need well more than that from unit to screen.

Is the lag in registering shots because of the Wave monitor itself or the computer/ graphics card speed?
No, I'm running this on a $5000.00 computer setup. It is a result of the Wave in this case. Some radar based devices experience a slight delay.
How many players can play on local play? And is a scramble or best ball mode available? Only looks like stroke play
I did stay to the end and seen 6 players. What about golf modes ?
6 players. There is some more info regarding that on the written review we did you can find here: mygaragegolf.com/golfzon-wave-launch-monitor-review/

Does wave lens have to be on the straight line with ball?
GS Pro?
Unfortunately not at this time. I'm not sure about their status with the Open API though to be honest.
