This may be a future option. I've honestly thought about bringing out my glue gun because Annie's binding methods are so difficult to master. Sewing through so many layers!
I don't think using a glue gun would go well. If the binding is truly giving you fits, try cutting the binding strips slightly wider. I wouldn't go as wide as 2.5" like some people do, but you might try 2 3/8". When you get comfortable with that, try 2.25" again.

So, I thought you were teaching this based on how Annie makes the bag. She does not hand sew the binding, and I think it looks better that way.
I am just trying to offer options for those who prefer to do it another way.
