I think I understand the use of bias binding eg bag making vs quilt making You replied that to someone that one could use straight of grain binding (1) But does your math stay the same and (2) do you pull the fabric or is it necessary to pull. Thank you
You can't use straight binding on curves. You can use this joining method on quilt binding. When you're using straight binding, you don't pull on it because it doesn't have stretch to it like bias binding does.
Great advice. I wish I had known about you & these slow along a long time ago!
QUESTION...Would this method work for straight of grain binding? Since it doesn't have as much stretch, i wasn't sure. Beautiful tutorial! perfect camera angle and lighting. I could actually clearly see what you were demonstrating! :)
Yes, it will work for straight binding.
Question-When you place the zipper on the binding, is it right sides together? Sorry, couldn’t tell. Glad I found you! New subscriber here!
Omg, I made this bag today n fought with the binding, I wish I found this before! Thank you, I’ll use it on my next one.
Without a doubt…best tutorial EVER …thank 🙏💜🙏
Excellent instructions but, I had a smaller project. A Hot Pad 10-11" and it was difficult. Would you recommend it for small projects?
Thank you so much Randi! I also watched your tutorial for joining the binding together and both have been so helpful! It makes me want to make more projects that require binding now! ❤️
Thank you, best video I have for this!!
Thank you for teaching this slowly…for us older folks! This is the best video I’ve seen for joining binding!!! Thank you!!
Thank you. Very clear and helpful.
I do this but attach binding to base piece so I always have the flat piece against my machine
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This has helped me immensely! Your explanation was fantastic. I truly appreciate this. ❤
Thank you for your very clear instructions. They were tremendously helpful.
SO HELPFUL!!! This is exactly where I mess up, Thank you!!
This was very helpful Randi, thank you!
Thanks you so much for your video I always struggle with this when I haven’t done it in a while very easy your the best
Thank you!! This is really helpful with such clear and concise instructions and demonstrations of the steps.
Excellent tutorial
thank you that's great tried the annie one but too confusing yours is so easy
I don’t think most people cut their binding on the bias.
Thank you. I am making this bag in a class in a few weeks. I think I will try it at home first, thanks to your tutorial.
Great, clear, and concise video! Bravo!
Thanks for watching!
thank you for this great tutorial
Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU! No other tutorial I've seen has shown exactly how to open up the two ends so the binding isn't twisted.
I'm so glad it was helpful!
Thank you Randi. I can now delete allllll the videos I have saved over the years on joining the ends on my binding. This is exactly what I needed. I will never use another video to help me join my ends.
I'm so glad it was helpful!
I have been struggling to get this right. Your video explained it to me perfectly. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! I'm so glad it helped.
ACROSS the mountain...that fixed my issues with sewing the wrong diagonal! Thank you!
I'm glad it helped!
I’ve struggled to “get” this method for a year now and your tutorial is the best I’ve found
Glad it helped!
Are you using 1 inch wide handmade bias binding
2.25" handmade bias binding
This is amazing I’ve made many by Annie bags and I will use this next time.
Once again this is a great technique. Question, on the Clam binding hack you say that’s the only time you will say to iron bias binding. Do you iron the bias binding for quilts? Thx ❤
I don't use bias binding on quilts.
The thought of this "hack" briefly fluttered through my brain a while back. In one ear, out the other. Thank you so much for documenting the "Hack" ! I will be using this on my ByAnnie projects going forward! (I don't use FB, due to personal aversion to censorship in general. Have you considered also posting on Rumble, X, or Truth Social? I would definitely follow you and your group there!)
Thank you for this video! It helps loads 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, what a difference this makes! ♥♥♥
I'm glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much. You're brilliant at explaining how to join your bias binding. Thank you. Anita
Glad it was helpful!
This was super helpful! Thank you
Incredibly technique and so well explained. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
This is, without a doubt, the best video that I’ve seen for joining ends. Thank you so much for sharing your technique!
You are so welcome!
Hi, Randi! Thank you SO much for this awesome joining video! I have been quilting for a long time but always have to look up how to join the ends. Now that I have found your method, I will be using it from now on! I just managed to make a perfect join for my quilt which I will be entering in my State Fair this summer, all thanks to you! Bobbie🥰
Oh, yay! I'm so glad it helped! Good luck at the fair.
Thank you, Randi! 🥰
Excellent way of explaining for the joining the ends. You are good tutor
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, I have always had problems holding on to the ends of the tape and trying to zip the zipper, never thought to put it down on a table and hold it that way. Brillant!
Are you using a bias binding or regular binding?
Bias binding
You're Awesome! I hadn't done any binding in awhile, so I came back to the video and refreshed my memory. Thnks for all you do to make our sewing lives easier. 😊
Glad I could help!
I love you used a sharpie to mark the center points. Whenever I use pins they either come out or poke me, and chalk goes away before I get to sewing. Game changer for me!!! Thank you.
I'm so glad it was helpful.
I made this bag today. What a torture in sewing. I tried your hack for applying the binding on one side and ByAnnies way on the other side. I found Annie’s way to work better for me. I think the stitching before hand helped squish the seam down and made it easier to work with. I learned a lot and since I am a glutton for punishment will make another. Hopefully easier the next time.
I don't actually use the binding hack on my own projects 🙃
Thank you, you might want to mention that if you used zippers by the yard to make the 30" zipper you need to turn the one zipper pull so the heads are facing each other. I got the strip all done and noticed it zipped improperly. It wasn't too hard of a fix but I had to take out the seams from the center side strip on one end. Also, Granny Sassy Desgins sells a Zipper tool that worked fabulously to get the zipper pull back onto the zipper.
Thanks for your input.
Thank you for the review…..
My pleasure!
Is there a chart somewhere that tells you approximately how much bias you get from different size squares? This is a great tutorial. Thank you for doing it.
I also struggled with Hold Everything - the zipper strip! OMG, the zipper strip. It warped my brain.
I found my pattern, so I'm going to give it another go and see if it gets easier 😊
