I was told to soak 1 hour with cold water or 30 minutes with hot water or the hay starts to re absorb the sugar. Vet also suggested running barley straw through the hay too. Forage plus test hay for you Demi. I buy my balancer from them and they are really knowledgeable about laminitis and EMS and the current research. I’m seriously considering ploughing and seeding with Timothy grass. Good luck with it all. It’s a wild ride x
Ooh I hadn't considered it re-absorbing the sugar. Goodness that makes me cringe even more thinking back to all the people I have seen re-using the same hay water for 2-3 days 🤢 I will check out Forage Plus thankyou ❤️
@@fionaclark9249 I was then going to add RINSE the soaked hay until run clear as can, hell it all uses so much water, I know a horse got very ill as nobody told her to rinse the hay, toxins or something?
Your doing a great job bird ! I feed mine Timothy haylage very low sugar and low sugar chaff Healthy hoofs .I dont use regular hay as the sugar content isn't consistent and it's mostly rye grass the farmers grow as it's a reliable crop ,good for cows but not horses ! Restricted grazing on a track . Alsow consider a grazing muzzal it means at least 4 hrs excersise on the field and only a very small amount of grass! I tried medication Pracend but mine got very depressed and stopped eating and became anorexic ( do your research on pracend ) it's a constant worry I know ! Info changes as veterinary science improves . We never stop learning as horse parents ! Good luck bird ❤
Mmm we were discussing cattle hay being fed to horses the other day .... I hadn't realised how common it is 😳 I'm very thankful we have knowledgeable and reputable growers in our area. Haha a grazing muzzle would be a great idea ... But it's Blue 🤣 can you imagine? I don't even think I'd get it on him and if I did I guarantee it won't survive more than 10 minutes. Could make for an entertaining video though 🤔
Well there has been some interesting developments with his feet over the last few weeks which is giving us hope that e may actually find boots to fit him, or better yet we might be able to go down the road of glue on shoes. Only time will tell though, we may be getting excited way too early yet
Lean, mean, muscled showing machine! Loved that. Wiltshire Show next spring for Mr Blueberry.
Ahh Bless mister Blue
It's love and patience most of the time ... and sometimes I just wish they understood English so I could explain to them how daft they can be 🤣
@@raversmead sometimes I also wish I could talk horse or they could talk fully human.

Ohhh what boots are you looking at?
None ... There aren't any that fit him 😂😭
Blue can’t wear shoes; I think; but maybe there is some kind of shoes that he could wear; and help him with his feet.

@@raversmead Oh wow that sounds good; glue on shoes; but you are not sure; well I hope something will help him! 🌈
