  • This HUGE Model Railway is absolutely Mind Blowing! Bron Hebog is an incredible 009 Exhibition Layout!
    Early Access: / @thatmodelrailwayguy
    MERCH: shop.thatmodelrailwayguy.com
    When I visited the Warley Exhibition last year, I have to admit there was one layout I was looking forward to seeing in particular... It was of course Bron Hebog! This 009 exhibition layout is absolutely huge, made even bigger by the tiny Welsh narrow gauge locomotives running through the expansive landscape.
    Based on the real life Welsh Highland Railway and the famous curves leading out of Beddgelert Station, it's mind blowing to see these trains winding their way up the incline through the expansive scenery!
    With passenger trains taken care of by the famous South African Garratt locomotives and the Small Englands, while goods trains are handled by the more modern diesels, this huge model railway really does give the impression of a fully working railway. Even outside the main station there's so much detail to surrounding buildings all over the landscape, it's truly impossible to taken in this entire layout in one go.
    I'm not kidding when I say Bron Hebog is mind blowing! It's an astonishing achievement and one I'm very glad to have seen in person.
    For more information on the construction of Bron Hebog, check out: bronhebog.blogspot.com
    Filmed during the 2023 Warley Exhibition at the NEC.
    Thanks for watching 😃

    Thanks for all the lovely comments on our layout. It’s really nice to see the concept of a train lost in the landscape being appreciated. Other people have observed that they find it.a little boring because it is, essentially, just a long stretch of single track.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  13 дней назад

      I wouldn't worry about other people, it's a superb layout! Not every model railway has to have a four track mainline and personally I find single track operations a lot more interesting than lots of trains whizzing around in circles 😅
      Best of luck with the build of Minffordd, I've been enjoying seeing the updates! Thanks for watching 😃

    Bron Hebog might just be one of the most picturesque layouts I’ve ever seen, it almost seems like they’ve literally taken a chunk of the Welsh countryside, and just shrunk it down.

      Yes having visited Beddgelertt myself it really does capture the scene incredibly well. Given the size of the overall layout I'd be surprised if there was any compression in the plan at all either! Thanks for watching 🤩

    There at 9:38, the Beddgelert station sign - brings to mind in this American's mind at a little bit before sunrise, that somewhere there is an interesting little tank engine named Beddgelert. I model mainly in HO and On30 on very small shelf layouts; have dabbled in Gn15 and our version of OO9, HOn30. Also tinker with Trainz Railroad Simulator, only have the several years old A New Era, edition, and somewhere someone made a Beddgelert to offer. That light hued Garratt with the inside frames is absolutely eye catching on the move as the counterweights and siderods do things.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  4 месяца назад +1

      So this layout is based on the real life location of Beddgelert station on the Welsh Highland Railway. There was a locomotive by that name originally too but it was scrapped many years ago. I do believe there is a 15" gauge representation of it at the Fairbourne Railway not far away. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

      Oh yeah, continental model prices I’m sure but if the quality is there… …want a wallet shock look up rtr Japanese brass locomotives. With the death of the hobby narrative right now, model pricing talk is going to start a war but I think what people are really feeling is that their wages have stagnated and dropped in real terms so everything feels wildly more expensive than it should, models that used to be, 10% of disposable income are more like 35%, more features costing more etc making it more of a luxury item so even higher % of the disposable income…
