As a 19 year surrounded by other young people that only wear trendy street wear (the sporty kind, sneakers, running shoes, sweat pants, long t-shirts), your content is very much appreciated.
Yea I use be guy wear sporty stuff. And I workout too and I thought it make sense. Also I live in 90-100 degree weather so t shirt shorts make sense. But now I’m 30 I tend wear polo, button shirt more. And loafers or sneaker. No more gym shorts unless going somewhere after workout. But cotton or linen shorts ok. Most time pants.
The Modest Man what's your opinion on boots (I own chukkas, and combat boots) with shorts, it's some I might wanna try out in spring (southern hemisphere)
Huaraches are my go to shoe. I live in the Caribbean where it’s tropical weather all year round. They’re woven to let your feet breathe, provide the airiness of a sandal with the security of a closed-toe loafer.
Great video...though I have to say that there are guys who rock a high end leather flip flop or sandal with a dress shirt and a pair of dress pants. So that is a look that can work well.
Huarachas are a better option than other sandals. They come in more dressy closed toe styles and can be worn with shorts and even summer pants options like linen. Look them up!
3:06 technically those you showed are blucher mocs. camp mocs should have 360 deg all around lacing like boat shoes and tied through one pair of eyelets across the vamp. incidentally, they are also my go-to summer shoes.
I have the Lincoln loafer in natural chromexcel and they are really beautiful. Probably not as sleek as some European brands, but sleek enough and very comfortable.
Thapelo Mokoto I'd rather not say! Lol I just started to build up my wardrobe from beach/skater casual so I'm on somewhat of a budget. Also, I'm a giant, so my clothes typically come at a premium. I went with some boat shoes from Target. You can tell they're made from cheap leather, but they'll work for now while I see what I like and don't like in a boat shoe. Then when those wear out I'll know a bit more in what to look for in a good, well-made pair.
I wouldn't say dressy. If you want an equally comfortable and stylish shoe try a penny loafer. DO NOT WEAR BOAT SHOES WITH TROUSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
My first impression is that the ‘camp mocs’ suit you best. The loafers look fancy, though I don’t like them. If you don’t mind me saying, they look a tiny bit big on you.
Brock, I'd like to know your opinion on something. I don't own any black clothes, and I wear mostly blues, greens, khakis/browns and sometimes yellow. I'd like to add black to my wardrobe but I'm not really sure about how to pull it off or what to combine it with. Something that I'm interested in are black chelsea or Beatle boots, what tips or warnings do you have about them? Thanks in advance!
I just started wearing shorts a few months ago and I've mainly been sticking to sockless Reebok classics, sockless Adidas Stan Smiths, or sockless Nike Air Force 1s. The only time I wear socks in the summer is when I play tennis or there are times when I'll wear low cut, white polo Ralph Lauren socks. It all depends on what outfit I'm wearing.
Moccasins and boat shoes are so similar I don't get the hate on the boat shoes. Why can one be worn with pants and socks all year and the other can't? Seems silly to me.
I’m 19 almost 20 talk about how guys of my age should Dress , !! Your videos are pretty much for mature guys like 30’s or so , But I still watch your videos !
Good video Brock. You have same issue as I do with Thursday shoes. Needed to size down a half size like I do with their boots. They told me not to and to get my usual 11.5 for the shoes instead of 11s that are bigger for boots. They half size too large for sure. You need to size down at least half size if not full for loafers. I can tell yours are at least half size too big also, as I have same issue with heel slippage.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts concerning TOMS, particularly the iconic canvas style slipper. Personally, I love my Chacos sandals for the hot & humid weather where I live. Boat shoes are always ace imho.
Great video Brock! All of this works for cropped trousers/pants too. All with no show socks of course. Personally not a fan of boat shoes, just something too snobby about them. 😁
I think Thursday boot is a great company. When it comes to the shoe line though, a lot of the "good" ones you have to join a wait list. No bueno!! Hence, I'm forced to shop an alternative.
Sandals should be at the top. And Birkenstock sandals were recommended by my chiropidist. They're premium functional and classy; not a cheap shoe in terms of looks, function, and price. A good quality sandal can be worn anywhere shorts can be worn. The only issue with sandals is mainly the person who wears them. They need to keep their feet looking not too cheap. This involves the necessity of basic hygiene, like keeping your toes trimmed, your calluses shorn, and a preemptive foot anti-persperet, because it's hard to fake no-socks socks with sandals. A good quality sandal offers style with warm weather comfort (your feet can feel the air). Boat shoes are a classy casual second. I'll only comment that shorts are inherently casual, and yes they are generally regarded as work appropriate (I've worked for Microsoft, Sony, American Express, a small engineering firm, an auto parts factory, an oil refinery plant, security guard work, armed forces; in their head offices, etc... if it sounds like I can't keep a stable job, then I'm either unemployable or easily bored), and even in sales, customer service, and other customer facing jobs. The more elite jobs (like software development or classical electrical engenering; the more liberal the dress code. McDonald's has a more stringent dress code than Microsoft. Am I ranting? I guess. You bet! Nobody on Your Tube, whatever tube you are into. Nobody is going to dictate what shoes I wear! Except of course for Donald Trump, because he has the codes to launch nuclear missiles! And I don't want my home on the target list! Shorts & sandals r ok @ most businesses. Trust me.
they're not called button up shirts though. they're properly called button-down shirts. these came into popularity in the eighties with the "preppies".
Button down technically refers to a shirt with a collar that buttons down. So you can have a button up shirt with or without a button down collar. Of course, these days people use “button downs” to describe the whole shirt.
FYI: In Europe from Antwerp southwards, loafers are called mocassins. And mocassins? I don't know, probable just called "ugly" or "midlife crisis Porsche shoes".
I don't get the sneakers and shirt thing, it doesn't work, even for your friend with the Nikes. A polo shirt is as far as I'll go in terms of formality when wearing sneakers.
My favourite, especially with shorts: Barefoot. No shoes, no socks, no sandals. Perhaps an anklet or toe ring, but nothing else. The most casual, relaxed and liberating.
Love the Thursday boot shoes. I got the Executive and Lincoln at their original "pick what you pay" event for $121 each. Not sure if I'd pay the $180 full price though. Would rather wait for a sale from Allen Edmonds and pay ~ $250 for those.
I feel more comfortable wearing normal socks and black trainers or casual leather shoes. I don't usually wear shoes around the house but I generally feel more comfortable wearing t shirt and shorts with socks. The only place I feel comfortable walking around barefoot is on the beach. If I was going to ditch the socks I would opt for sandals but flip flops or crocs are an absolute NO!
I am surprised you didn't mention or show a lighter tan leather or canvas with tan/lighter shorts. Matching your skin tone with your shoes makes the eye not ground you but follows from toe to waist, creating the optical illusion of longer legs and height. Just saying...
As a 19 year surrounded by other young people that only wear trendy street wear (the sporty kind, sneakers, running shoes, sweat pants, long t-shirts), your content is very much appreciated.
Second this but at 18 :p

Get you man
What are your go-to shoes with shorts? Let me know in the comments!
Also, sweet graphics alert @ 05:51 ;)
I've been glued to my CP Achilles Lows this Summer! I also rotate in my Quoddy Pennies. I enjoyed this video!

drlatham22, that's the secret only the best dressed don't share with "the lower class"

Try "veldtschoens", i.e. the "Desert Boots". They are missing in your collection. And with knee-length socks they are quite attractive.
Great video Brock!
No socks and sandals? LINUS IS TRIGGERED
quality of your videos gets better after every video
keep up the goood work!
I liked all your choices ... I would add huarache sandals or maybe it's just a west coast thing.
Nice video, Brock. Glad you showed the difference between loafers and moccasins, but I'm basically a loafer guy.
I would suggest suede loafers over leather loafers in combination with shorts
I love this channel because I can relate to someone with the same height, you seriously changed my choice of wardrobe and style. 👌🏻
and the very reason i also subscribed to this channel...
I have the Lincoln loafer in natural chromexcel and they are really beautiful. Probably not as sleek as some European brands, but sleek enough and very comfortable.
Gentlemen dont forget Huaraches and Swims loafers (for water shoes) they replace flipflops VERY well
You've helped me completely nail my style, great vid as usual!
Awesome! Glad to hear that 👊🏼
Just got my first pair of boat shoes and I'm loving them.
Very nice!
Andrew Martin what kind?
Thapelo Mokoto I'd rather not say! Lol I just started to build up my wardrobe from beach/skater casual so I'm on somewhat of a budget. Also, I'm a giant, so my clothes typically come at a premium. Andrew Martin 😅 that's why we're here ma brother, we're all here to learn
Andrew Martin my budget is also an issue, sometimes I plan my purchases way over a mouth ahead, to get good stuff.
Boat shoes are amazing. They can be casual or dressy, and they’re so comfortable.
I wouldn't say dressy. If you want an equally comfortable and stylish shoe try a penny loafer.
DO NOT WEAR BOAT SHOES WITH TROUSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
They are stinky ! Even the least stinkiest ones are smelly to me. Even if they spary it or put powder in it. White guys feet are the stinkiest !
They do have a certain "Student union" look to them, beware of that: they scream cheap beer, bad tie knots, and banga lists.
This is the video I needed, but not the video I deserve.
Thank you @The Modest Man
My first impression is that the ‘camp mocs’ suit you best. The loafers look fancy, though I don’t like them. If you don’t mind me saying, they look a tiny bit big on you.
Do you know any stores/sites where adult men can buy boots/shoes that are under size 6?
I always wear the Flip Flops and the boat shoes :)
Same
What do you think about brown Derbies with shorts? Yay or nay?
Thanks, Man! You're doing a good work!! Appreciated!!

Flip flops > sandals, especially in Hawaii, locals wear (slippahs) transplants and tourists tend to wear sandals
nice idea to try
Nice video and where I live it’s freezing cold most of the time so I only wear shorts on holidays abroad.
GREAT INFORMATION AND VIDEO THANKS
What do you think about desert boots?
Wearing them right now 👍🏻
With shorts, I mean
I just started wearing shorts a few months ago and I've mainly been sticking to sockless Reebok classics, sockless Adidas Stan Smiths, or sockless Nike Air Force 1s. The only time I wear socks in the summer is when I play tennis or there are times when I'll wear low cut, white polo Ralph Lauren socks. It all depends on what outfit I'm wearing.
It would be nice if Thursday Boot throws a sale once in a while.
What does 'preppy' mean?
I like the look of Vans, but the pairs I've had seemed to fall apart pretty easily. Switched to plain Adidas.
Thanks a lot!
Do they ship in the Philippines?
Alpha M. knocks boat shoes, he offers great advice, but I don't understand the hate. Sperrys are such a versatile, classic and comfortable shoe.
Alex T I want to smell your feet. Ah the white guy foot odor.
All of these go either with no socks or no show socks? So shorts means no socks?
Moccasins and boat shoes are so similar I don't get the hate on the boat shoes. Why can one be worn with pants and socks all year and the other can't? Seems silly to me.
make a video of how to wear socks as accessories please
I’m 19 almost 20 talk about how guys of my age should Dress , !! Your videos are pretty much for mature guys like 30’s or so , But I still watch your videos !
Does Thursday boots ship to Africa, specifically Ghana?
Good question... not sure, but you should ask their customer support.
Okay thanks, and great video by the way. Always love your content.
T shirt you're wearing? fits nice
Hey Brock, did you upgrade camera gear? Looking much crispier, or its just lighting.
Thanks! Same camera, but I got some new lights.
Nice!
Can wear sports shoe or no
?
What does Preppy mean? I'm in the UK.
If you're still interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preppy
Can these shoes be worn with chinos in summer as well?
Yes!
Thanks

I had to size down with the loafers too. Quite a bit bigger than the boots in my experience. I could probably size down another half size.
The Modest Man Yeah, definitely. I'm 11 in boots and 11.5C/D normally. The shoes needed to be 11 too and loafers potentially another half to a 10.5
I’m curious to hear your thoughts concerning TOMS, particularly the iconic canvas style slipper. Personally, I love my Chacos sandals for the hot & humid weather where I live. Boat shoes are always ace imho.
I’ve never had a pair but they look like a nice casual (and comfy) shoe.
What brand/model are the sunglasses at 0:50? They look dope!
Great video Brock! All of this works for cropped trousers/pants too. All with no show socks of course. Personally not a fan of boat shoes, just something too snobby about them. 😁
Curtiss Wu nothing is snobby about them
Keep it on 👍🏻
what is the name of your sneakers
What are the shoes at 36
I think Thursday boot is a great company. When it comes to the shoe line though, a lot of the "good" ones you have to join a wait list. No bueno!! Hence, I'm forced to shop an alternative.
What about the chukka boots with shorts?
Kind of a cool/unique look.
Can We Wear Sport shoes with shorts ???
Socks and slides are the only way I wear sandals gotta know how to wear them
Big wooly socks with sandals in Scotland AKA scandals
Great advice!
I'm 5ft2 should I be getting some XS tshirts or sticking with kids for now? I'm 14 years old.
Whatever fits you best. Doesn’t matter what the label says.
Dude at 5:09 is seriously skipping leg day

Where did you get your Olive green pants? At 1:03. Thanks
Peter Manning slim chinos 👍🏻
your "beat up" boat shoes are my pick of the bunch precisely because they look so distressed.
they're not called button up shirts though. they're properly called button-down shirts. these came into popularity in the eighties with the "preppies".

Thank you, sir!
Its still a no go from ME, to sandals and boat shoes
My favourite, especially with shorts: Barefoot. No shoes, no socks, no sandals. Perhaps an anklet or toe ring, but nothing else. The most casual, relaxed and liberating.
Air force one's low tops.
Great Video!! If it’s sold at REI or has Birkenstock on it, it’s a no go!! Flip flops to the beach and pool.
I prefer to wear boat shoes with socks.

Why are Birkenstocks "controversial"? I love em!

If you EVER see me in white sneakers, it’ll be because someone is pranking me at my funeral.
I can only hope they bury me in my white sneaks.
You say “potato”...😉
Square toe loafers, more comfortable, better looking with shorts.
#3.5 ankle boots for the rugged wilderness look
Yeah, loafers would be terrific. Until one has flat feet. Time to pay the "tailor tax".
I guess the most important is you feel comfortable of what you wearing. Whatever it is.
I prefer sandals on shorts.. Im sexy on it.. 😍
you're a charming man...
Bare feet.
Chelsea boots
You do know I’m joking
I personally don't like dock shoes
boat shoes are dorky, just my opinion
1st 😎☝
You're always first in my view, Tyrone 👊🏻

No Brock No. Not the Jesus shoes. Please. 😉👍
