    I find it interesting that “pureblood” Asari are discriminated against by their own kind. When looking at real world human history it would be reversed. Mass Effect has some truly masterful writing.

      It sounds nice but practically it would be immeasurably slow to respond and probably prone to mob mentality. I'd imagine it would also be pretty conservative since people hundreds of years old would be held in higher regard.
      But longer lifespans and maybe the right laws could make it work better.

    Mass Effect is just the best video game series of all time. Even with the boggled ending, if you can even call it boggled.
    I haven’t ever been what someone would call a gamer, mostly just a Madden/ Tekken guy.
    When Mass Effect 2 came out, my roommate at the time was so excited for it. I had never heard of the series at the time.
    I watched him play it for a while, while doing other things, and found myself being interested in the story.
    So I decided to give it a go. The next day was my day off, and I found myself playing through the night, the next day, and well in to the following morning. I called in sick, finished the game, and immediately went and got Mass Effect 1. I wound up having “the flu” and took the next two days off as well, and finished the first game, replayed the second, and then tracked down as much info as possible about the series, and when the 3rd game was coming!
    Every DLC, every nugget of info, all of it. I consumed it like a starving man at a Chinese buffet!
    I still find myself thinking about this game all this time later.
    I have always wanted a Mass Effect movie series, but have realized it would likely be best served by a Netflix/Hulu/Amazon prime show.
    Anyone else think that would be a good idea?

    • @dangieflores6167

      Considering the last of us show. I think it's more likely a mass effect show would be a hbo max series. Especially knowing mass effect a show would be a perfect fit for hbo. Especially since considering it's a large universe with a lot of characters it could be somewhat seen as a sci fi game of thrones. Just replace the white walkers with the reapers.

    In the waiting room of the Consort a Salarian remarked something like “Even the humans appreciate the Asari” which reminded me that I’d seen a presentation that stated the Asari appear differently to every race. That they affect perception to appear physically attractive to whom ever is looking at them. To a Salarian they have Salarian proportions while to a Krogan they are “Krogan shaped.” Etc.

    • @justfriendly7676
      @justfriendly7676 3 года назад +6

      So does that mean the husk asari are more accurate in shape to their true form you think? I mean the husk humans are pretty close in shape to us so it would make sense

    • @MrMightyZ
      @MrMightyZ 3 года назад +3

      @@justfriendly7676 That’s an interesting point, I wouldn’t think so as they’re still very human or at least couldn’t be mistaken for Krogan or other races. So maybe they’re still affecting perception in their husk state? Or maybe the whole idea is abandoned by the devs at some point? I like the whole idea though.

      First of all, I appreciate the point you made. Personally, it’s hard for me to picture a full on body change happening between each species’ perception of the Asari. If their body proportions changed, would the sense of touch be affected as much as sight? Or is it strictly based on sight?
      The most educated guess I could give is that maybe their facial proportions change (I.e. Eye/brow position, nose/mouth shape).
      Kind of like in ME2, when you meet Matriarch Atheta (Liara’s father) and her face changed after knocking back a few, maybe the features just shift slightly to appear more stereotypically attractive to each species. I can picture the eyes shifting more to the side and appearing bigger for Salarians, or having a more defined brow line and bone structure for Krogans. And maybe typical human bone structure for humans with some slight variations.
      At the end of the day though, it’s just science fiction. Either could be completely true. Thanks for bringing up the point you made! It got my brain workin 🧠💪

    Parthenogenesis is what there form of procreation is close to in the real world there is a species of salamanders that procreate in that way which all of them are female I believe and their offspring are nearly identical to their mother, really strange though.

    • @theflyingkaramazovbrothers6
      @theflyingkaramazovbrothers6 5 лет назад +8

      Correct. The Asari are an all-female race, in that at some point in the past there were males, but now they don't reproduce sexually. They have vestigial but functional FEMALE sex organs (note: they do not have penises), breasts, etc. To call them neither male nor female is not accurate.

    • @CreditR01
      @CreditR01 5 лет назад +15

      @@theflyingkaramazovbrothers6 I think it would be more accurate to call them a monosexual race, with female reproductive organs, but their concept of gender is much more broad; like how Liara's father considers herself such.

      I've heard that Asari use there biotic abilities to alter there appearance to what is considered the traditional mainstream beauty of whatever race is looking at them. Is this true? I think there is even a conversation in Mass Effect 2 I believe with a small group of mutable alien races talking about how Asari all look like one of them, which sparks an argument though I could be wrong; I haven't played mass effect in years and the reason I was brought here was through watching an other RUclipsr play Andromeda. Additionally you're videos provide a large amount of insight I would have otherwise not known even if I played the game, they are of a very high quality, you're voice is easy to understand and slightly calming which fits these type of videos nicely, and the gameplay in the background is entertaining. (Also forgive any miss-spellings and/or grammatical errors, I am mildly dyslexic which impacts my ability to write large paragraphs correctly.)

    Video is awesome but i have one thing. On one of the clubs in Mass Effect 2 you can hear the conversation of Salarian, Human and Turian that all say Asari looks like their species but blue. What means that they don't exacly look like human. We see them as humans cause we play as human (and i believe that most of us players are humans too). Which means that asari look is unknown.

      @GSWoof 7 лет назад +2

      The facts are there. You can go to Mass Effect 2 and find 3 guys watching asari dancer on the table and if you listen to their conversation they mention it that they look different for all of them

    • @random3857
      @random3857 7 лет назад +10

      That is not a fact, that is a mere conversation between a few friends in speculative nature. As established by lore: turians believes long crests (or mandables, for them) are attractive and asari have them long, salarians related positively to high-pitched noises and exotic colors (asari have this), humans find any-thing that is relatable to human body shape (such as asar) attractive. *Your mention is not of concrete, irrefutable, indisputable evidence and as a result is shall not be considered canon.*

    • @Drenhol
      @Drenhol 3 года назад +3

      @@random3857 then there are also the statues and ancient paintings of Asari in the temple on Thessia. And during the party in the Citadel DLC, Garrus and Tali make fun of Humans and Asari for their weird legs, e.g. normal human legs. So yeah, I think this conversation on Illium was just meant to be funny

    I HATE the asari. They are just so pathetic. Like the Turian's we see how powerful their fleet is, able to withstand the reaper invasion for a considerable amount of time. The krogan we see as unstoppable brick sh-- houses who can take on armies! Evem the salarions who are set up as more spy/espionage type army proves their worth on a few occasions. (Most notably Novaria) but the asari, we are told constantly how powerful they are, we are told constantly that they are the best, but whenever we see them fight they get bent over like they dropped the soap on prison! Heck first game we face an asari commando unit, which you would think are epic badasses and will challenge you and push you to your limit, but no, they go down just as easily as the geth you had been mowing over up to this point!

    • @vksasdgaming9472
      @vksasdgaming9472 3 года назад +1

      Their way of fighting is not suitable to those encounters. Asari commandos are masters of guerilla warfare and assassination. Their bodies are just as frail as any other sentients (maybe even more so). Against overwhelmingly powerful Reapers being great at small unit-warfare is about as useful as champion wrestler at artillery fight.

    I still think it would be pretty cool if they create a genuine male Asari (and no, not an Asari that just likes to use masculine pronouns). Granted, the chances of that happening are low, and it may conflict with some previously established lore, but in the hands of a dynamic writer, it could add a new layer of depth to the Mass Effect universe. It could also add some character depth of a male member of an entirely female species and his struggle with his place in the world (something like Y: The Last Man). Maybe it could be explained that male Asari, being male obviously, lack the necessary reproductive organs to give birth and require females to help produce male or female offspring, while the females can give birth via pathogenesis but only to females, which gradually drove the Male Asari population to the verge of extinction over the Millenia. Just food for thought, but I still think it would be an interesting idea
