I think the idea behind the AT-ST is that it has a similar play feature to the 70's/80's Kenner toy AT-ST for 3.75' figures. That had a button on the back that made the legs look like the vehicle was walking. You haven't built it wrong, you have to lift it off the table to make it look like it is walking. Thanks for another great review. This is one of a few Star Wars lego sets that i haven't sold, it is too good a set and goes really well with my Ewok Village set.
