Thanks for that info. I have this machine and haven't used it in several years. Want to update it too, I hope it doesn't cost too much $$. But I'm glad to know how to check this module, because I think it might be messed up too.
Hi Brian, You need to check out my other video, "Bernina check hours 165, 170, 180, 185" this is the one that shows you how to check the version number of the machine and the embroidery module. The module must be on the machine and plugged into the machine. The machine version number and the module version number must match for the module to work with the machine. Follow that video and let me know what results you have before we get into talking about replacing parts. If you did follow these instructions and no version number is showing up on the 180 screen then it's one of two problems. Its the embroidery module or its the machine. The only way to tell is to take the machine to a dealer that has another 180 module that you can try in the store. Hook it up to your machine and go into the service mode like my video shows and see if a module version number shows up on your screen. If it does then your machine is OK and you have a problem in your module. You would have to get the parts from a dealer in the event the module you have needs a new board. If you still do not see a version number using another module, then you might have a problem with your machine, possibly the electronic part that the module plug's into needs to be replaced or you have a problem on your main print board in your machine. You cant tell for sure till you follow my video and then try another module if the module version number does not show up on your service screen like in my video. If you have a good Bernina dealer in your area they should be able to hook your machine to a computer and update your firmware in your machine and module so they match. Sometimes you can only update a module so far. Lets say a module is V2 and you are trying to update it to V4.1, it might not work. I have modules that will only update to V3 so in that case you just make the machine v3 even if it is v4.1 right now. You wont notice any difference. You just need both to be the same version number.
we were trying this today with the large hoop. It moved in the directions and then all of a sudden, it stopped at the lower left corner and the control panel kept saying it was running. We turned it off, and back on and it said it was still running. What do you think might be wrong with it. It took us 8 hours to embroider a pillowcase. It was VERY stressful. We would almost get done, and then it would stop sewing. ARG
I just bought a 180 and the module is not it showing the version. The machine is version 3.01. You said you might have to replace the board in the unit in the video. I can't find any place on the internet to get the parts. Can you only get them from the dealer?

I have a 630 and the embroidery module works great but the center is off. How can I test and fix this, it wasn't covered in your video. Thank you
I have a Bernina 880 module that won't recognize the hoop; what could be the problem?
How long should the X+Y run?
