I got a story that could qualify as MC/EP/Petty/Pro Revenge that features my late Uncle Donk (not his real name and this is a reference from a Crocodile Dundee movie).
This is a second hand story that happened a few decades ago, so there's some exaggeration. Brief background on Uncle Donk: he was 6ft 2in, one of the top wrestlers in high school, liked to join bar fights until his mid 30s, loud and crude with a heart of gold.
Uncle Donk was sitting at a bar and enjoying a beer when Angry Idiot enters the scene. Angry Idiot must've done some time in jail because he was shouting, "I'm the baddest mother fucker in town and I will fight any one of you!"
At the time, Uncle Donk was starting to mellow down (he didn't answer Angry Idiot's challenge right away), until the idiot approached him. Angry Idiot punches Uncle Donk's shoulder and shouts, "You! You wanna fight?!"
Uncle Donk stood up, faced Idiot and said, "No, but I got a magic trick I wanna show you." Uncle Donk flexed his arm and pointed at his bicep, "Do you see this?"
Angry Idiot squints at the bicep- DONK -and gets KO'd by a single punch from Uncle Donk. Uncle Donk looked down on the unconscious idiot and said, "Pussy."
Uncle Donk finished his beer and left before the idiot could wake up.
    RIP Uncle Donk.

I was going to say much the same thing, but with the caveat that it matters what OP actually said. If OP sent a random friend request and then went along for the ride, then OP just exposed an existing pattern of behaviour. OTOH, if OP hard sold the idea that they were pursuing the guy, then yeah, that's going a little far. Anyone can have a weak moment, especially if they're being constantly harassed.

I have a habit of moving between states. The last time I returned to my homeland, i tried to get my car registered. It was the only time I had an electronic title..means I had no paper title. This caused the DMV in my homeland no end of fits. They did not recognize the title, so refused to title the car in that state. This went on for almost five years, until I was about to move to another state again and where I am now. As I am returning from getting supplies for the move, a deer jumps out in front of me and the car is wrecked. And wouldn't you know it THATS when a cop stops and threatens me with a ticket for the now expired plates. Had to explain the five year epic, while bleeding..it was a bad wreck..and he finally lets me go an hour later. Stay long enough to get the car fixed, move, and use the car as a trade in, and will never get an e-title ever again.

Heh, gotta love Department of Motor Vehicles. Out here in Ohio it is called Bureau of Motor Vehicles. When I moved from NY to here, when I went to switch from a NY driver's license to an Ohio one, I had to show my NY birth certificate. Mine is a duplicate copy, that at the time was 43 years old, but still crisp, with the raised State seal intact. The Ohio clerk became perturbed that it didn't list my parents names, nor the name of the hospital I was born in. Explained thats what a duplicate NY birth certificate looked like. Clerk reluctantly accepted it, but declared that I needed to get a new duplicate for the future so it would look like an Ohio one. Um, a duplicate NY one will always look like a duplicate NY one. There was no convincing her otherwise.

Coming from someone on the other side of the counter at the NY DMV. The OP went on the website (yes I know it sucks, yes it can be confusing) but if they knew what needed to be brought could have saved some time. You can do more then 1 type of transaction on the same vist. We have to follow strict procedures and way to many to remember them all. Could they have checked the record and found the photo at the start (yes, but that's if some go the extra mile and might cut you some slack. Or the OP could have asked to talk to a supervisor or go to the same person and remind them.

  • @neilprice513

There is a universal constant with low level bureaucrats, like from the DMV, is that they HAVE to follow a set procedure in doing things and if they alter that in anyway (like in the video with entering a issue number into the computer to see OP's file) they will get heavily reprimanded. So very quickly these bureaucrats just go through the motions and follow their job's very very specific way of doing things. It's extremely annoying to people that interact with these bureaucracies, but it's how things are done and they can't change it.

The 1st one reminds me of an encounter I had with state police in Arizona or New Mexico in 1977. I lived in Illinois, which had not yet gone to picture drivers licenses. I came upon a road block and the officer asked me for my DL. It stated I was male, 6 ft tall, 170l bs, brown hair and brown eyes That covered a good percentage of the population. He looked at the license, looked at me and sneered - this doesn't tell me a whole heck of a lot. I shrugged and asked - what can I do? His response was a defeated - I know. It's not your fault and he sent me in my way.

As to the second story that idiotic nut should be fired. Op was injured and the idiot only cared about the stock. She left the store wide open to legal problems. I'm old, lol, and remember the old days, but I still find the last story unbelievable. Last I knew, in the U.S., data linked to license plates is still "Top Secret." Misuse by anyone, including LEOs, can result in a world of hurt, fines & termination. The writer seemed to imply the info is readily available. In today's world, anything is possible, can someone verify how easy or difficult it is to access that info?
I Just remembered while writing this. I ran into that secrecy once back in the '60s when each police station had their own (12"x18"?) printed copy of license plate info. I was at the front counter waiting on something when I saw this big book and started leafing through it. I mean it was sitting right there on a public counter, duh. An LEO saw me and I swear, he 'flew' the 20'-30' across the room & slammed the book shut on my hand.
