I liked that last one. I know you made those "homeless people" week. You probably gave them something to remember and hopefully make them want to find a job and a place to live again. Or get off drugs what ever they are homeless for. People never know until they ask. I've been homeless before and it wasn't because I was on drugs or didn't want to work. It was because I grew up in state care and once you age out they are done with you and you pretty much become homeless in less than 24 hours. So all that help you was getting is now just taken from you and if you don't have family then you are on your own. But luckily I met someone and he helped me out a lot. I was able to get SSI and get my own place in under 5 years.

Evening Redwheel. Nope, not a late start and definitely coffee related, that resulted in 8 hours at the ER, and about five stitches over the back of my right hand, so my typing and text wall making, will be hampered for at least a week till they are removed. So what happened?..... I awoke 7:05 am, not my normal 5am, and realized it wasn't just me who over slept, my kids as well. Five alarm clocks, not a one went off? It was then I realized we had no power, and the biggest problem with that, all devices hooked to a dead charger, discharge through Them and all dead. This should not have happened, I have serial and parallel Renegy 200ah racks set up in my garage, to hold enough power to keep my home powered 10 to 14 days, and are kept charged by the 30 300 watt panels on my roof and back yard towers, and timed input from our power company at night, should input be lessened by rain and bad weather. So why did nothing kick in? Because the computer that controls the relays and solenoids was dead as well, and the culprit was my power chair which rolled into the inverter system, and knocked out the data cable that sends information to and from, every node. Surfice to say, I had to Uber my kids to school once the hot water tank was fully heated. That one cable basically prevented all warning systems from letting me know, they were unplugged. Today, it was only Snowy and Bella who chose to share the window ledge. The other two cats were still sleeping in. Soon as the sun shown through, I noticed something no one likes to see. Pain in the neck to clean, but not so bad if you have a sink sprayer like I do. Problem was, I should have looked before turning the water on. Im always careful when using it, so my cats don't take off when I'm at the kitchen sink like they do when my kids use the sink. That mistake, lost me their trust today! Our sprayer has a lock setting, where if you pull the handle instead of push, it locks it into the on position. The first time they did this to me, I accidentally taught them a few colorful words I would have preferred them not learning, till they were at least 50! Today, was such a day, I forgot to check. My kids didn't set the prank up, they had used the sprayer on the dishes the night before, and just left it in the right sink, not the holder in the on position. It happened all to fast. I turned the sink on full blast, planning to use the sprayer on the coffee pot once the water got hot. Instead, I see Snowy and Bella watching me, as a cold shower slammed into both their faces. Most cats hate water all together. My cats like the water, as long as it's warm. This water was cold, very very very cold! Bella leaped through the screen to outside. I had just rescreened that window this past Saturday, and she tore through it, as if made of paper. I myself got blinded by the water that bounced back from a pot in the sink. I felt more than saw, Snowy not following Bella, but jumping to my shoulder, his rear paws taking my stomach, as he gripped my shoulder, and then launched himself to my bedroom. More than likely, to jump on my side of the bed, to teach me a lesson on what happens when he's rudely sprayed in the face. He was actually soaked through, and my wife had to change the sheets. My daughter had walked in at the tail end of the incident, while I was trying to wipe the water from my eyes, and blinding myself further? Turned out, it wasn't water that made my vision worse. My daughter's yelling at me "Dad, your bleeding, A LOT!!!!" Gave me an idea, of I think I'm in trouble. I couldn't see, and trying to wipe my eyes so I can made it worse. My son was just coming from the shower, heard enough to run into the kitchen with a towel wrapped around him. He grabbed some paper towels, yells at me not to move while he grips my hand, and applies a lot of pressure. For a 15 year old, he's damned strong. I was definitely into denial, as I could not believe all of this was mine. My daughter came back with one of the many first aid kits I put all around the home. We have like six of them, and there was a time that it was mere impossible to keep them all fully stocked with bandaids when my kids were a lot younger, which was why we had so many. One for each room. Even with pressure, those paper towels still got quite red. It wasn't till my son quickly swapped the towels, for a thick stack of gauz, that I saw the gash from Snowys claws, across my hand. I didn't even feel them. One went over an artery, hence the 5 stitches. Gauze and tape, which he actually tied painfully tight, did a good job. My next door neighbor was talking to me, asking what the heck happened. I don't even remember when he showed up. My daughter actually caught him as he was about to leave for work, and asked if he'd take me to the ER. I took an Uber home, despite having to beg my neighbor to go to work as we had no clue how long the wait would be. He refused gas money and with a big thanks, left. My kids came with me to the ER and used their tablets to get school work done. The looks I and my son got were priceless. His Minecraft shirt, stained with my blood must have painted a nice picture. Seven years later, I purchased a home and two years after that, I purchased a brand new car. My first new car EVER. Whoever says bankruptcy messes you up for your entire life is full of shit.
I did these alone with a (single and less than awesome) income.
If my mortgage werent significantly lower than current rent, I’d be out on the street.
I’d be homeless on the streets right now. I would’ve never been able to purchase a home. I would’ve had to rent. And with the price of rent now, I’d be on the street. You can’t rent a home where I live for less than $4000 a month.
So no, brankruptcy won’t kill you.
The last story about the cruise. I'm not sure it really bothered the cruise ship company that a couple of homeless people went along. They had their money for the tickets, and as this channel frequently shows, there are far WORSE people who have a home and money, that take cruises (or any other kind of holiday) and behave atrociously to crew and staff alike. The crew probably got more respect from the two homeless people than they would have from a lot of passengers.
