The fact that this only has 90 views is criminal. This is probably one of the best reviews I’ve watched in a while with how concise and simple it is, along with the beautiful editing and storytelling. insane job
Thank you so much! Lowkey the conciseness comes with me being lazy haha. A 5 minute video like this takes me days of editing because of all the sound design. I guess that works in my favor though! Thanks for stopping by and watching!
I wasn't expecting to stick around or at least skip through to the actual verdict, but no, this was one of the most well-made videos I've seen. I watched the whole thing twice. I'd give it an 8.5/10. I'll explain why I didn't say 10, but nothing's perfect, though you can get damn close. -Better SFX isolation: Some of the sound effects, especially your footsteps, have noticeable noise. And maybe record different footstep sounds for different flooring and if you have one foot on the hard wood and one on the carpet switch them up instead of just using one of the footsteps. -Replace the mouse click sound: My bad if I'm wrong, but it sounds like a downloaded sound effect. My mate's got an MX Master, and the clicks are much softer, so maybe consider recording it yourself. -Text at 0:51: I would've made the text larger and make it so that it appears behind the microphone with masking. Bonus points if you add some ambient occlusion to the text near the mic. Maybe try a more "bubbly" font, but that's up to you-different fonts work for different people. Also, move the text to counter the natural movement of holding your camera to keep it in one place. -If you do any text or icons edited in, consider tracking it into the scene to keep it in one place in the room like what I said with the text at 0:51, and add a shadow on the ground where the text or icon would cast a shadow if that would be in frame in real life. Your camera work and editing are spot on. Other than that, I didn't notice anything else I'd change.
DUUUDE, this is some incredible editing. i thought this channel would have like 10k at LEAST, and 77 views?? this is incredibly under rated, keep up the good work man
This comment means so much to me man. And it's ok, the fact that you found this video and enjoyed is more than enough for me. One day we will get to more people!
I came here for a mic review, I got a cinematic and informative storytelling experience! Great work man! Very creatively thought out video. And I'm glad you came to the same conclusion as me with the FiFine. Surprisingly great quality for the price. 🎤😃💸
Thank you so much! I've come to realize that for normies like me, Audio quality is something with diminishing returns the higher up you go. If it sounds pleasing enough to the viewers, its good enough lol!
Very nice video, thanks! I one myself and you are so, so right about the Fifine K688. At the pricepoint the new Shure SM7B db comes in, one can get two K688 plus BM88 mic arms plus let’s say the Elgato Facecam MK2 plus lighting to build your whole studio.
You did some great things in this review!! Showed the microphone working in real time, made the entire video with the microphone, kept it casual because the microphone was intended for that! I bought the Samson C01u Pro when I first got my setup was done, and I am thinking of changing that now because it really doesnt suit my needs, great and awesome as it is!! I have been confused between this and the Fifine K688.
Thanks for compliments and stopping by! I think when it comes to buying setup gear, always figure why you need something like this in first place. I've been rocking with this mic because it provides good sound in general for the type of content that I make, and I can use it to take work meetings as well.
A mic that sounds so good you spent most of the video with processed audio? What about self noise, handling noise, plosive rejection, proximity effect, off axis rejection? Comparison between USB and XLR outputs? I didn't learn anything useful about this mic from this video.
I hear you. No matter how good of a mic, it's always a good idea to process the audio, that includes people you listen to podcasts with the Shure mics. And you're right, the things you mentioned above I should've spent some more time on. These videos take me a hot minute to make, so I'm still learning, and I'm happy you're giving me this feedback which I'm taking as learnings. The entire video was recorded with USB.
I haven't used the Boya before, so I can't really make a fair comparison. I did take an initial look at the Boya on Amazon, and found out that it's a condenser mic. The Fifine is a dynamic mic. So before you make any purchases, I would recommend looking into what your use case for a mic is and whether a condenser vs a dynamic mic makes a difference
