Thats, coaches egoism and stupidity should cost them a game not win them one... Technical fouls were well deserved, cause you cannot be a hooligan on bench and coach at the same time. Refs didnt give anything to Serbia, i could say this one of small number of games without mistakes, for refs. Making a cicus of the game just to disturb the game is allowed but its not fair and its not going to bring much to you... Ask Ataman, he is the same circus coach

@@efrendelapena2592 Yes because in the NBA they barely play defense. Luka himself has told that in Europe is way harder to score points. That alone tells you the quality of the NBA where they can't play zone defense.
I am Serbian and when they threw him out of the game I thought that the Italians were done for but it actually turned out that it was the deciding moment when they started playing so much better.

good for italy for not giving up, but serbia made it very easy for italy to win it in the end. micic, the second best player, made 1/8 threes. catastrophic. lucic and guduric missed all their 3s 0/3 and 0/4, and those were open, easy shots. overall, micic had a horrible game. and the coach putting jokic on the bench instead of playing him 40mins.. as i've said, respect to italy for not giving up, but if the coach didn't bench jokic or if some of these players made the easy and open shots, italy wouldn't have won.

You are right, but the Serbian coach made horible decisions and nobody could understand why he kept players who clearly didn't offer anything in the game. Obviously Italy played better, but they were lucky for the wrong decisions of the Serbia coach.

Legendary coaches usually make calculated risks like getting ejected sometimes like Gregg Popovic and Phil Jackson. In the Philippines, Tim Cone also does it sometimes to energize or wake his team up.
I don't think Pozzecco did it on purpose (he burst into tears I mean...), he's known to be hot-headed, even from back when he was a player.

Back on the days, he was seen as a risky but very talented player: too much hot tempered, too much dramatic, too much emotional. Yet he managed to win an historical italian championship in Varese, the team wasn't even close to be considered a serious contender. As a coach he remained pretty much the same guy and he's seen as quite a controversial choice. Well, hate him or love him, pozzecco is one of those guys that lead you to amazing wins and condemn you to stupid losses.

It doesn't matter if Italy is going to be eliminated before the final. It is one of the very few cases where you don't just remember the winner. It is a Eurobasket classic scene, next to the battle of the scissors, next to other great moments of European basket. He wrote history through this extraordinary elimination of Serbia and its not smthng that will be forgotten too soon. In my opinion Italy and Pozzecco added value to the competition
