    One of the aspects that made Tuff Trax such a quality show (aside from the obvious racing/competition) was how they had interviews with most all of the drivers whether they lost early or not. For most points events from '89 - '96, it was such a big deal just to qualify to make the race, they deserved that type of coverage. The later years of Trucks & Tractor Power/Penda really dropped the ball by barely acknowledging the trucks/drivers who were eliminated in the first round. Yes, it was only a 30 minute show, but it could have divided it's time better and followed the successful model already developed by shows like this.

    • @MisterGravelrama
      @MisterGravelrama Год назад +1

      This also led to fans developing more educated opinions of trucks and drivers in determining who they rooted for, and it created reasons for those fans to keep tuning in each week. This also had an influence on ticket and t-shirt sales for events and trucks. While the sport has evolved to an entirely different show than the motorsport it was back then, these tactics and details could still be incorporated to help the sport of monster trucks grow and deliver a better experience for current fans.

    This was awesome action that I grew up watching as a kid and I loved every action packed minute of the deal. My first monster truck race was a year earlier and was at Carter Finley Stadium and I was 9 years old and VORIAN was the halftime event as the crowd was in intermission and I think that the Digger won that night and I asked Dennis Anderson if the Digger was his baby and he said "yup, she's my baby". So, I have been hooked on monster truck races forever and continue to watch the insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Woa, one hell of a crash! Nice to see the great Bigfoot 4 making a good job in its final show. Kudos to The Outlaw and Mike Wine for an excellent night, that guy is really smart and funny. Maybe he throttled too hard in the final. Equalizer (and Bigfoot) always take advantage of their great handling. Also always nice to see Mopar Magic, for the sake of diversity, the Big Three must be represented. Thanks for this video, enjoyed!

    That young kid's not 19 anymore, he's in his early 40's now days probably since then. lol God, time flies too fast doesn't it? It should still be 1990 it seems! :-O Everytime the Tuff Trax title would come back from commercial break, the little theme it would play sounded like the background music from the Nintendo game to Super Off Road. =) ...a little bit of that game & a little bit of sound effects from the Scrabble game show with Chuck Woolery back in the day, when the letters would be finding a place to go into the box once the player picked it. lol

    Looking back on it, the Kong wreck should've never happened. He should've been DQ'ed in the race with Outlaw when he didn't hit the second set with both front tires. I guess the officials didn't catch it.

    • @diggerfan9319
      @diggerfan9319 9 лет назад +1

      BrendanJourney He made a legal run. King Kong barely got the wheels off the cars so the crash stays even though Steve Cain shouldn't have. Gary Porter though lost three times in this race.

    • @Arctic_Falcon
      @Arctic_Falcon 5 лет назад +1

      I have to agree. There were instances in the past where trucks were closer to having all 4 on the ramp and they still got DQ'ed. I suppose the difference here is the track was kind of a mess, and the lane King Kong was in was not straight at all. Hard to tell by the camera angles, but it looks like the cars might have been pushed over a bit and not lined up with the ramp?

    • @stanleychiu7594
      @stanleychiu7594 3 года назад

      Yes! This looks to be a 1-hour broadcast for the event, but there was a 30-minute condensed version that was aired on TSN in Canada. I had uploaded this King Kong crash to RUclips from the shorter version more than ten years ago, but accidentally deleted it... not sure if that was the one you had seen previously. I only stumbled onto this video a couple days ago and it was the first time I've seen this longer version. What's interesting is they didn't just cut out parts of it to make the 30-minute version, but they actually recorded a whole different set of commentary for it. It was still Army and Scott, but just different dialogue. I'm sure I've watched this crash hundreds of times, so it was just weird hearing the different "live" play-by-play of the crash on this version.

      Jeff Dane (owner of the Kong truck) discussed the insurance situation in an interview. Apparently they had the option to buy insurance at each race, the drivers never wanted to do it, but he did...sounds like it paid off! The interview is available on youtube, it's like 40 minutes, and quite good.
